During the Anchoring and Onlining Time of a POS, is it possible (although obviously potentially stupid) to LEAVE the area to attend to other business, even LEAVE the system itself ? Or are you required to stay within a certain distance of the Anchoring (Onlining) POS, even cloaked ??
I have searched for HOURS for this everywhere and can't find it.................. God is simply-áthe very extraordinary power of the Universe to organize Itself as percieved.

Ok let me get this straight...
It's 30 mins to anchor a tower? It takes you hours to try to find the answer to what you're asking? And you didn't even try once to leave the area/system/log off to see what happens?
By the way, yes you can leave your POS alone while it's anchoring or even onlining |

Krixtal,
I personally have never found any documentation that says one way or the other in regards to this specific question.
From extensive POS experience, I can tell you that when you anchor / online / unanchor a POS structure (tower, module or other item), the process is the same and it's completely hands-off once the timer has started.
If you are concerned about your tower being attacked (low/null-sec) while it's going up or onlining, then you should have an appropriately sized defense crew handy. IIRC, towers and modules (e.g. guns, ew, etc.) are invulnerable until they are anchored.
One caveat to know is that once you UNanchor an item and it finishes its unanchoring cycle, it an be freely scooped by anyone passing by (unless it's inside the shields, then only by those that can get inside).
For anchoring / onlining / unanchoring times, size matters. For standard towers, the times are:
Large : 1800s / 1800s / 3600s Medium : 900s / 900s / 1800s Small : 450s / 450s / 900s
Faction Towers have appropriately reduced times.
Hope this helps. HROLT CEO Live Free; Die Proud

You can leave the tower once the anchoring process has started it's completely independent of anything else you are doing.
You will want to get back to it on time in order to fuel and online the tower and activate the all important force field.
As for it being a stupid thing to do - not necessarily. The time during which you are anchoring the tower is the time of maximum vulnerability. If you are hanging around the tower in a ship that can be scanned down or draw attention to the fact someone is in system. A tower in the process of anchoring draws a lot less attention through scans and probing.
This is not theoretical, I have done it on multiple ocassions. You do not need to baby sit the tower for the anchoring process to complete itself.

Goto test server and test it. No need to search for hours somewhere. And yes, its proofen fact, all answers above are correct, the tower onlining process doesnt care if you are in system or not or even offline. |

I get it: a link to a half assed wiki article / guide / ... made by one random guy is better proof than a forum post confirmed by several random guys. Or do you want to be 100% certain? Then go test it because there is NO other way. Calling people who help you trolls is a slick move, too bad you are in fact the victim of your own faulty logic. |

Maybe next time you need a question answering you should use the petition system and ask a GM, it will stop you getting slightly worked up about it all. You asked a question, two people answered and then you got all emo. Lots of things in this game don't have a wiki page to 'confirm' how to do it. In this example, people just kinda assume that when you get to the point of dropping a POS then you will either know that or one of your ingame friends will be able to answer the question for you.
You would have been better just asking the question: can anyone confirm what this guy is saying please? That way you will have got more than 1 or 2 confirmations to your question. If that still isn't enough as Koen L and Forge Pricecheck (awesome name btw) said use the test server
How can you have played so long and not know the answer to this question?! Its like asking 'can carriers use gates?' Seems to me you have been playing the single player version of this game. |

As stated above, you're actually making it more dangerous for your tower if you stay around. I've installed and removed towers from some pretty active low sec spots (farewell Tama) and not only can you leave the area, you should leave the area. |

Your POS will also continue anchoring/onlining/whatever it's doing during downtime.
If you're really concerned, start the process right before downtime hits. |

Thanks for the response. I stayed away a few days to let this all simmer down.
Confirmed by my Alliance CEO (4 yr player) that this is indeed the case.
And yup....not really documented anywhere, even the article on Anchoring. No biggie. Just needed CLARITY when doing in Low Sec obviously.
So, I'm slapping it up in High after all, but I have to get my Gallente Standing up of course, so now I'm doing the Data Center missions to turn tags and get standings.

OMG this is all so wrong I don't know where to begin.
I did not realize one had to post with SUCH EXACTITUDE on a Forum when a simple question was being asked.
And I TRUST NO ONE IN EVE. That's why I wanted Linky.
And, BTW, my FOUR YEAR alliance CEO learned something NEW from ME yesterday. People always do not know SOMEthing about the game. You ARE indeed just being an a$$. God is simply-áthe very extraordinary power of the Universe to organize Itself as percieved.
