EVE Online: Incursion 1.1.1 will be deployed on Tranquility during a downtime on Friday, January 21, 2010. Downtime will begin at 11:00 UTC and will be completed by 14:00 UTC. A full list of patch notes are available here and new additions have been added in green text. To assist our Mac users we will provide a detailed listing of Mac patch notes and known issues along with useful advice on how to use the mac repair tool and a guide on reporting issues.
Patch notes for 1.1.0 (deployed January 18th)
- Antialiasing is now disabled for Leopard users to avoid client startup problems.
- Switching between windowed and full screen can now be done via the ESC menu.
- Users can now choose to disable Multithreaded OpenGL via ESC menu settings, this option affects CPU load and graphics performance.
- Running EVE in the background should no longer severely slow down other applications.
Patch notes for 1.1.1 (deployed January 20th)
- Client crash on exit (buffer overrun) should no longer happen.
- Fixed an issue where closing the in game browser, would spawn an Exception raised issue on the Mac.
- Fixed an issue with drop down menus in the IGB.
Known issues for 1.1.1
- Various crash issues on client startup, please contact customer support for help in resolving these. Some users have reported that clearing the client cache resolves this issue for them, please note that any direct editing of preference files is never recommended.
- AA cannot be turned on if you also have depth effects enabled, this is something we are looking into. Not sure when or if we will be able to support both in parallel.
- Adding websites to trusted sites does not work in some cases.
Other useful info
- Shortcuts have been changed, for an example the quit client shortcut is now: ALT+SHIFT+Q
- Editing prefs files to start the client in windowed mode no longer works as it used to, please note that you can now change these settings via the ESC menu.
- If you run into any issues try running the repair tool first:
- Download the Mac repair tool from here. The repair tool will be packaged as a .tgz file
- Double click the file to extract
- Double click on the extracted file 'EVE Online Repair.app'
- When prompted, select the EVE Online client you use to connect to Tranquility and click open
- The repair tool will auto start and when it displays the text 'complete', press close
- Run your EVE client as normal
Please use this format for reporting any issues in this thread:
- Description of problem, the more verbal the better
- Hardware info (Mac model, GPU, CPU, RAM etc.)
- OS version
- Step by step guide to what causes the issue
- Step by step guide to any workaround that has resolved the issue for you

We have been investigating this issue over the last few days, as incredible as it sounds one of the few leads we have on it is that the app name length is a root cause for this type of crash. Could you try changing your app name to something shorter or longer and report back here please? ------------------ Tester, Scrum Master Quality Assurance

Issue #1: Random crashes after just clicking on something. Can happend in Planet or map mode or just in normal space.
Issue #2: IGB browser does not trust pages or there is something else wrong with the data in request header.
Hardware info (Mac model, GPU, CPU, RAM etc.) Macbook pro 15" 2010 model
OS version 10.6.6.
Step by step guide to what causes the issue: #1 seems totally random #2 can be seen at least on two separate services
Step by step guide to any workaround that has resolved the issue for you: none that I know of

I can confirm that changing the name of the "Eve Online" app to "EO" fixed this problem for me. I was getting this consistently as it would occur (as previously reported) the second and subsequent times the client was launched, and that removing the preferences folder would get you back into the game (but only once).
With the name change to the client I have not had this re-occur.

Launching the client causes a black screen with sound, no graphics. Tried 3 times to restart all with the same result. I did a power down / up between tries and the only application I tried to launch was the eve client.

While playing over the last two days, the game has just stopped responding. It doesnt freeze to the point of OS X listing it as Not Responding, just in game commands stop working. Example, While mining, I mistakenly double clicked in space and the ship started moving, when i tried to go back to my can, it would say approaching "1209" (name of my can), however it would just keep going, not approaching the can. Another time, I was trying to warp to a local gate, and it said warping to "Gate X" but the ship didnt do anything and I couldnt tell it to do anything else, just said the is "busy" or something. Only thing that fixes this, is quitting to the desktop and relogging. Not sure what this is.

Really not done much to file a full report but i've noticed some odd behaviour when launching and starting in windowed mode.
I have 3 clients (i.e. full copies of the game) which either:
1. Launch straight into windowed mode. With a minimise button which when used to minimise and the restore the window leaves the client active but unable to take mouse and keyboard input.
2. Seems to enter full screen briefly then windowed mode, but with the minimise button disabled.
Cheers,
Social.

Cannot launch Eve twice in a row. First launch OK, subsequent launches never get to black/login screen. (Mac EVE client 221279 (1.1.0) and 222391 (1.1.1))
Can launch if the preferences are deleted. I have now narrowed it down to a single file that can be deleted to allow launch, ftfontcache, see below.
Hardware: --------- iMac 8,1, core duo, 4GB, ati radeon 2600pro, OSX 10.6.6, details at end.
Simplest steps to reproduce the problem: ----------------------------------------
1) Installed 221279 from complete download .dmg, verified OK etc 1b) or patched from working 221279 -> 222391 via autopatch, no difference.
2) Delete/Remove ~/Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences
3) Launch Eve Online.app
4) Splash OK, black screen, startup, EULA agreement dialog appears with bckgd music etc
5) Scroll down EULA, accepted
7) At login, enter nothing, just quit with shift-alt-q, click YES
8) Relaunch EVE Online.app
9) splash screen - possibly up for longer time, but not sure
10) splash vanishes, no black, no login screen, cannot quit, must force quit.
( reported for client 221279 at bug report #106105, included a zip of the problem prefs folder)
Workaround: -----------
1) open ~/Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences
2) delete ftfontcache file
3) Launch EVE Online.app Launches OK
If you quit the whole thing starts over again, and I have to keep deleting the ftfontcache file to run EVE Online.
zip of prefs folder attached in bug report.

Follow up: --------
Since the problem seems to be font related, guessing ftfontcache is a font related file, I opened /Applications/Font Book.app to check the system fonts .
Using the menu: File->Validate Fonts, it scanned all 308 font and found two with serious errors (red warnings). I removed the two problem fonts (adobe garamond and Cheltenham, Type 1 PS fonts).
Now EVE Online.app launches every time!!!
So, the current mac client seems to very sensitive to macOS font issues in ways that it wasn't before.
People need to check their font setups if they are having problems, and TG needs to make their code more robust to font problems.

Still having issues with Character Customization in 1.1.1
When I open the Character Customization interface, what I see is this: link
If I put clothes on I might see some clothes. I never see skin, eyes, hair, or any other body part other than a set of teeth and a neck hole. This is the same with the second screen, where I would take photos. All in all, it makes character customization feel like a crap shoot.
This effect persists regardless of what I do with the video settings -- full screen, windowed mode, with or without anti-aliasing, etc.
System Details iMac 4.1 CPU: Intel Core Duo 2GHz processor (one processor two cores), 2MB L2 cache GBU: RadeonX1600 128MB RAM Memory: 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667 MHz bus speed in two DIMM banks of 1GB each Display: 1680x1050 32-bit color OS 10.6.6
How to cause the issue Open Character Customization screen.
Work-arounds Select "NO" when asked whether to enter character customization screen.

PROBLEM: #1 - Will not load after splash. Screen minimizes into icon and will not load the game. #2 - Random crashes and will not allow me back into the game. (similar to above) #3 - Lock up when trying to shut down the program with CTRL+Q or in the menu. Have to force the machine off.
PLATFORM: 27" iMac 3.06 Ghz Intel Duo 4 Gig DDR3

Edited by: Flynn Fetladral on 22/01/2011 11:45:51 The other day I experienced a really odd issue. PVPing in a small gang, interceptor gets tackle, and calls us to warp in. Soon as I drop out of warp I find them 23km off, so I set myself to approach and turn on DCII and Afterburner. Something seems really odd. I look in space, and there is no thrust graphics coming out from behind my ship, and it seems as if I am no moving. I look at my HUD and it shows me moving at speed. Then a corp mate on TS3, shouts at me to start moving. By this time I'm taking heavy damage and go into armor, structure. I'm spamming warp to get my Pod out, and as my Rifter goes pop, the HUD suddenly seems to move from it's normally located position, centered at the bottom of the screen, to slightly offset at the top left hand side of the screen. Once I dock, it returns to normal.

I've not found or seen away to reproduce this issue, and I've not experienced it since. I believe this happened before the 1.1.1 Patch, so I'll keep an eye out if it happens again.

Iam also getting the "Exception Raised" bug after starting the client a second time. The problem was solved when I renamed EvE Online.app to EvE1.app. Only question arising is: Do I have to rename it to the original name (EvE Online.app) once CCP releases a patch?

Eve frequently crashes with no warning or error when I jump into a new system since the Tuesday Incursion patch.
Eve also frequently crashes on quit with an exception or buffer overrun error, or it just freezes forcing me to force quit Eve. Again since the Tuesday patch.
Both problems have been an issue from time to time in other patches, but Tuesday's has made them happen all the bloody time. Thursday's patch has fixed nothing.
Also since Tuesday I've a brand new issue whereby many player ships show as empty brackets in my overview :-(
I have run Eve repair tool, but it found zero problems.
I am on a mid-2007 24" 2.8GHz iMac, 4GB RAM, ATI Radeon 2600 HD Pro with 256MB VRAM, OSX 10.6.6. |

For all the complaining I do....
I try to come back when things are right...
For those still having issues; I understand your frustration & I hope it is resloved as soon as possible..
CCP the Tuesday patch was the magic ticket for me. I have a standard install and don't rename anything or do any O/S x changes. I have a 2009 iMac and everything works as advertised. Yes I have to turn up my shader to HIGH to see hair in the Char-Creater, but after that I play & I no longer crash 5x a night afater 1.1.0 and I no longer lose drones like popcorn due to app failures. Thank you CCP for the efforts. My biggest issue was the IGB. That thing not only crashed my unit, it dragged my CPU to death's door and created exception failures all night long. It's working well now.
Thank you. |

Game randomly crashes. No error message, just quits. Most frequently happens when jumping through gates. Has also happened in station and while looking at the star map.
MacBook Pro model MacBook Pro5,1 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM OS 10.6.6
Have my graphics settings set fairly ambitiously, and most of the time this doesn't seem to slow things down too bad. Except for maybe missions with clouds or big red collidable structures (submitted a bug report on that).
My only workaround right now is to stay out of low sec until the problem is fixed.
