I agree.
I set up my colony on a hot spot, a collection of them. They're gone, other places are hot. None of these places are close enough that I can move my ECU and have a link that will carry what I need it to carry. No other mineral deposits nearby to mine well either, and the system is still a clickfest if your goal is to re-schematic every cycle or two.
I'd vote for a revert. PI is ****ed up, the depletion mechanics are the biggest reason. The ECU cost sucks, but will probably not be changed. The depletion mechanics though...
We've got idiots like the guy above me quoting what was originally intended, despite the fact that a few dev posts and general ideas are the most significant documentation of changes done since the inception of the first system. The truth is we're all stumbling around in the dark with no real clue how this **** works.
All we know is the system is badly designed as it stands. You aren't mobile enough to follow hot spots. The range on an ECU means you're forced to pick a local area and mine it, the cost of upgraded links over any significant distance means you can't afford to move one ECU, or to plant two of them. Depletion mechanics mean a saturated ECU will drain the area you sit in of resources in days, I've got 7/10 active and I'm still seeing a decrease in available resources every single cycle I run.
And I really hope the "stop a cycle and start again and you deplete the area, even after twenty seconds" is a bug. Of course, we don't know that because there's no documentation, but I can't see a justifiable game reason to allow a 30 second cycle drop white to orange.
If PI is going to continue to be workable we need some genuine documentation of what they're doing and how it works from the Devs. We're not going to get it. PI is ****ed and if they change it again we won't know if it's un****ed until three months later when some excel poopsocker figures out enough numbers to get a response.
That's my biggest issue. The fact that the devs are, and have been since the beta thread, ignoring player feedback and desires when it comes to PI.
Those of you willing to put up with this ****, have fun. My outputs are down 60% on P1 planets because of resource depletion, I can't even keep 8 factories running on planets that used to run 10, and everything the devs have said so far including the "Dig a hole and it refills" line seems to be bull****.
