Your going to have to change your way of doing things. Gone are the days harvesting 2 resources per planet (way to ineffecient). Think of each planet as offering a single resource and you will be doing fine. 8 processors and 8 extractor heads is very easy to do per planet and will keep those factories busy 24/7. Looks like p2-p3-p4 production is best done on dedicated factory planets.
observation:
Planet size matters more now
Gas giants - Do to the resources moving and the size of the planets, I find that 2 space ports are easier to manage. I put 1 with the factories and 1 with the ECU. Now I know it sucks to import export p0 (taxes suck). It does allow me to extract alot without losing power and cpu to long links chasing the hotspot.
Small planets are GREAT!! the resouces don't move that far. Saves you in moving heads constantly.
Your just going to have to change your view on what your going to produce, and adjust accordingly. Look at the Good side...PI product are going to increase in ISK. Stick with it.

Taxes do suck, but if I launch an haul a days work of P1 it might cost me like 50k. It might cost me another 50k importing it to the factory, but that little batch produces 12 million worth of output (- about 5k tax) in less than 1 day.
Not exactly wallet breaking :)

nah, wackamole is talking about exporting and importing p0 onto same planet, which kinda impacts profit quite a lot.

Why would you set up a planet like that for a gas giant?
Lay down the extractor first, then the space port right next to it, then the processor right next to the space port. The additional processors can branch off the first one for a few links, or go off the space port in a different direction. Off the top of my head, I think you can line up roughly 4 processors before you start running into link overloads. Just never use the link between the spaceport and the extractor for anything else. If you have two ECUs on the same planet, then make sure the second ECU is also directly adjacent to the spaceport before you worry about the processors.
