This may have been previously covered, but I could not find it. I just received a new iPAD as a gift and was wondering if I can install and play EVE on it? I tried to find the technical details but did not see anything talking about iPADs specifically.
I am not planning on major fleet ops or even necessarily hard core missioning, but was thinking of using it as a way to stay in touch with my corp mates and maybe do some ice mining or something like that when away from my desktop.
Does anyone have any information for me?

No, but you can use a VPN app such as LogMeIn Ignition to remote control your desktop from your iPad.
It's fine for chatting, messing with the market & ice mining, but anything more than that is a no-no really.

I guess I should clarify. I have a PC where I run two clients simultaneously for my alts for missioning and such, and for my normal gaming time. This would just be for chatting and maybe ice mining when away from my PC in my house.
Lexx, thanks for the information.

I think you could probably accomplish that. I've changed skills before through my iPad from a different city. EVE has to be running in windowed mode though, and don't expect to be able to do anything very meaningful. (The refresh rate is too pathetic to even run an easy mission, for example.)
LogMeIn Ignition is pretty nice for when you forget to set a skill before leaving for the weekend, though... ששששש

Edited by: Darkaedus on 21/01/2011 23:53:07 To clarify Lexx's post...
LogMeIn Ignition is not a VPN. LogMeIn offers a VPN service, but ignition is Remote Control, not VPN. Two completely different things. VPN won't do anything for him.
I use LogMeIn to remotely control my Macs and play EVE, and I can say with confidence that it will work. I'm remoted in right now. I wouldn't expect to mission, though. It's completely dependent on the upstream speed of the internet connection on the computers that are running EVE. And upstream speed caps are usually VERY low.
For chatting and mining, it's great.
edit for Seriously Bored regarding full screen: There was a LogMeIn client update for the Mac a day or two ago, and full screen applications seem to work now. I just noticed it about 2 hours ago myself, you should check it out.

Edited by: cyndrogen on 21/01/2011 23:56:23 Actually YES you can, via remote desktop software. You still need a computer but if you install a VNC client you can play eve on ANY device that supports remote desktop.
I played eve on my iPhone, I would not recommend it for PVP though, but it's fine for running missions, mining and hauling.
I really hope OnLive offers EVE online one day, then it would be a universal game.
