Edited by: Esna Pitoojee on 22/01/2011 00:58:13 These titles indicate they are the deadspace (i.e., complex or mission) variant of a pirate faction. The variations are as follows:
Pithum = Guristas Corpii = Blood Raiders Centum = Sansha's Nation Corelum = Serpentis Gistii = Angel Cartel
As far as I know, there are no functional differences between deadspace and "normal" rats. ----------------------------------------------
Say "Amarr ships suk, lol." I dare you.
My statments do not represent the opinions, views, or actions of my corp. |

I'd always wondered this too.
Do those words stand for anything or have any meaning, or is it simply a word to give significance.

Edited by: Doctor Carbonatite on 22/01/2011 04:08:46 Corpus = Body Core = Core Centus = Center Pith = Substance, also the material located in the center of plants Gist = Spirit
In all cases, the name implies that these ships comprise the main component of their respective factions.
The other variants (Corpii, Centum, etc.) are just diminutives of these.

Pith = Guristas Gist = Angels Core = Serpentis Corp = Blood Raiders Cent = Sanshas
-ii = Friagtes -um = Cruisers -ior/lior = Destroyers -tatis/atis = Battlecruisers
The normal names are battleships, save for some exceptions (Centus, Corpus)
The Dire, Loyal, Elder etc. means that the NPC in question is an elite one. Dread, True, Dark etc. means it is a commander NPC (faction).

Edited by: Kiandoshia on 23/01/2011 10:59:51 The asteroid version of each NPC are no different in terms of HP and abilities. Their bounty is slightly higher than that of their deadspace counterparts.
The asteroid ones don't have the suffixes at the end of their names, so it may be a slightly harder to identify them.
Bounties are a good way to identify them:
5,000 - 30,000 = Frigates - Elite Frigates 50,000 - 300,000 = Cruisers to Elite Cruisers 200,000 - 350,000 = Battlecruisers
Anything above is a commander or battleship NPC, the latter is usually given away by the huge + on the overview.
Forgot to mention destroyers... they are in the 10,000 - 18,000 range I think but I hardly consider them anything more than frigates. If necessary, they will die to a single volley or to 5 light drones in about 5 seconds. |
