Edited by: jonmar on 23/01/2011 02:43:58 Yes I agree. In my case it is warp gates and P.I., particularly when I enter the planet view. The system slows down and the music starts to stutter, then... desktop. My wifes' MacBook Pro has no issue. Currently using Bootcamp on my iMac where all is stable else it is far too dangerous to roam in lo-sec.

I just tried running the Mac Eve repair tool, but it found zero problems. Yet I'm still crashing with no error or warning, so it would seem to be a bug in Eve.
I'm also crashing a lot on quit, though on quit I sometimes get an exception or buffer overrun error. Other times Eve just freezes on quit and I have to force quit.
In both cases it is a PITA and incredibly bad for a commercial app, IMO. Both problems have been present in Eve for Mac for YEARS, with varying frequency in various patches. Sadly in the current patch both happen all the bloody time. If I could roll back to before Incursion I would. It's added nothing essential so far, only crashes, feelgood features, and the absurd moving of 'Dock' to the bottom of the right click menu, away from every other related travel command :-( |

I've had eve CTD without any warning or crash report on me during: 1) undocking from a station, crashed with about 5 seconds left on the undock timer 2) jump through a gate, decloaked and recloaked in a rapier and was just drifting away from the gate. about 2 mins later CTD 3) doing absolutely nothing except sitting at a POS in a carrier with drones on a mod, after about 20 mins.

I'm getting those, too. Usually right after jumping through a gate, apparently as the grid is loading. I've gotten one or two crashes before jumping through the gate (after hitting the jump button, but before or as the gate activates), and also one or two when the PI interface loads after double-clicking a planet in the Industry window.

Me, too. Always either dual-boxing or multitasking with some other application. I'll have to do a long courier run in fullscreen to see if I can get a CTD there, too (or burn back to the same gate over and over, since gate activation seems to be the most common way to cause it).

Edited by: Myriel Viper on 25/01/2011 21:03:05 I have Eve just installed after a long absence but I think I have the same problem. And when I briefly played in December I didn't.
The game only executes when I start the game briefly after my iMac booted. Otherwise the loader Window appear, disappears, but the window doesn't open, while the process continues to run in background and do nothing. The only way to get into the game again is to reboot. The game hangs up on its own after a while.

i'm getting CTDs although I'm playing fullscreen only. there is no specific action discernible that will trigger it. never got it in PI, it seems to be totally random, but mostly it happens during warp or after a jump. luckily, i did not happen in a combat situation yet, and i live in lo sec.
regarding graphics settings: 1) frame rate seems to be slower with "multi threaded opengl", which, as i understand, it shouldn't. 2) anti-aliasing is non-functional again since 1.1.1

2 crashes since 1.1.2. One when switching planets in PI, one when going to portrait capture in the avatar creator. (Yes, half an hour of work lost).
In 1.1.1 I got 3 crashes when moving cargo to or from an obelisk, one when the obelisk docked, and one while doing PI.
All crashes produced an error message:
Unhandled page fault on read to 0x000010a8 at address 0x78sf8396 Do you wish to debug it?
I have not kept records of them all, so I do not know if the hex addresses are the same each time. But its always a unhandled page fault.

So, dl'ed new client, reinstalled, seemed to work, for about an hour. Then in the middle of a fight my corp mates had to tell me on vent that I disco'd. Of course I lost my ship. Had to quit eve and reconnected. I stayed docked in station and it happened two more times over the course of the next hour, once I asked on vent cause I was unable to type in one of my channels [the others were fine], the other time they had to tell me cause everything seemed fine just my channels were suddenly quiet.
Some sort of answer on this would be appreciated as this is completely unplayable.

What kills me (luckily not for real yet, but that's only because I'm staying well out of dangerous space for the time being) is in the recent patch notes they had "Client crash on exit should no longer happen". Funny thing is if you read http://www.eveonline.com/updates/patchnotes.asp?patchlogID=217 that line is no longer present... I wonder why? :-D

I am also having this same issue, crashes after I jump through a gate. Also, when I try to restart the client, I have to force quit it three times before it will start up with the login screen (it's always 3 times). And one other problem I have noticed with PI, the client seems to be sending massive amounts of packets and eventually it chokes my broadband modem to the point I have to power it off and restart it. This ONLY happens with EVE.

Im running off the internal drive and getting crashes. One of three things happen during any given crash:
Just crash to desktop An error message shows up "unhandeled page fault" The Mac crash reporter shows up. Ive generated like 6 of those so far.
Has anyone found a way to get a crash every time? Jumps seem to be the most common, but anyone got a way to make eve crash on demand?

Has crashed for me when enemies warped into my belt, has crashed for me when just sitting in station doing nothing, has crashed for me when trying to open the in-game browser. Has done so with black screen, with everything appearing to be fine but I am no longer connected, crash to desktop and the worst when it just freezes and I can tab in and out but cannot force quit, yet according to others I am still connected.
There seems to be no pattern to this at all besides the fact that it simply won't run for longer than an hour or so. |

Edited by: Vincent Athena on 02/02/2011 18:27:24 Ive found going to planet mode, while you are undocked, will cause a crash about one in 5 times. It does not have to be a planet you have PI stuff on. It does seem to need you to be in space.
CCP, want a bug report? Is that crashlog thing still working, where you use
cd ../../../../../../../Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS ./cider -debugmsg +seh,+tid,+module,+debugstr &> ~/Desktop/EVEcrashlog.log

I filed this as a bug report, and was told that CCP is aware of this problem and has already fixed it on their internal servers, and will fix it soon with an upcoming patch. Whether this refers to the crashing to desktop or the problems launching the Mac client is anyone's guess, though.

Guys, I just got great reply on my petition which was for asking about MAC crashes.
Here I am going to copy and paste their answer:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi,
Could you please run the game with the following attributes
Go to the directory where EVE is installed and create a shortcut for the EVE process ( eve.exe ) when the shortcut has been created right click on "eve.exe - shortcut" and select properties.
In the shortcut tab under Target add /minidump behind the target line so it'll look something similar to this "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" /minidump
Reproduction step are very important part of the report. Write exactly what you did to make the problem happen. This will help the programmers see where the problem is, and hopefully make it happen on their own computers.
Using the logserver (to minimize problems with this, its recommended that you either restart your computer or check Task managers process list for unresponsive instances of Eve.exe)
1. Find your Eve folder in Windows Explorer 2. When you have the Eve folder open, find "logserver.exe" and launch it (Do NOT have EVE running) 3. Select "File" - "New Workspace" 4. Start Eve using the shortcut you created 5. When you have reproduced the bug, Eve crashes or when you kill the process if it hangs, select "File" - "Save workspace as..." and save the workspace in a place you'll find it again.
Finding the crashdump
1. Press Windows Key + R and paste the following line into the Run window.
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\ if you use Windows XP %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\ if you use Windows Vista or Windows 7
2. Find the .dmp file with the most recent time stamp. Files called #error*.txt are useless.
In order to try solve this problem we will need some information about your computer.
1. Also run the DirectX diagnostics tool: Press 'Start' and select 'run'. Type dxdiag and hit enter. When you do this, a window will pop up. 2. Click the "Save All Information" button that's located in its lower right corner.
Then compress all files and attach the compressed file to either this e-mail or by using the attachment box by logging in to "My Petitions" on our homepage ( http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/Petitions/MyPetitions.aspx ) and opening the petition there. An attachment box is presented after opening the petition.
When we have this information we will hopefully be able to determine the cause of this issue.
Best regards, Senior GM Xamother EVE Online Customer Support
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you CCP
Sweet
If you feel you still cannot solve the crash issue even you've read this, it's your fail.

Edited by: Varia Henn on 07/02/2011 21:09:28 15 minutes ago, jumping through a gate, I just crashed to desktop. iMac Core i7, running in fullscreen with maxed graphics.
From OS X console log (console messages) all that is stated is:
07/02/2011 21:42:58[0x0-0x1b01b].com.transgaming.EVEOnlinewine: Unhandled exception, starting debugger... 07/02/2011 21:42:59cider[270]failed to launch task: launch path not accessible 07/02/2011 21:42:59[0x0-0x1b01b].com.transgaming.EVEOnline2011-02-07 21:42:59.476 cider[270:5e2b] failed to launch task: launch path not accessible
Now, since Im kinda "lost in space" I try to start the client again. 4 times. Black screen, no login. This time, output from console log:
07/02/2011 21:43:03cider[305]Error reading affiliate.plist:The file ôaffiliate.plistö couldnÆt be opened because there is no such file. 07/02/2011 21:43:24cider[315]Error reading affiliate.plist:The file ôaffiliate.plistö couldnÆt be opened because there is no such file. 07/02/2011 21:43:47cider[321]Error reading affiliate.plist:The file ôaffiliate.plistö couldnÆt be opened because there is no such file. 07/02/2011 21:45:12cider[350]Error reading affiliate.plist:The file ôaffiliate.plistö couldnÆt be opened because there is no such file.
... 5th time i get a proper & working login screen. Where did the file go for those 2 minutes I wonder

Almost everytime I jump my titan when playing eve on my macbook it ctd's. I cannot fly my tian on the macbook, I have to use the desktop. Lag is worse on the desktop due to it being older. So now it seems I cannot fly my titan safely due to this.
If I loose it I will be referencing this thread with my petition.

Another day, another freeze upon jumping into a system before I've even got to start the mission, and another bump to this thread - though it's starting to feel in vain.
My solution: I'm off to play another MMO today. The hell with Eve. The staggered release of Incursion was supposed to avoid the weeks of bugs that plagued the last Expansion. What an epic fail, at least on the Mac side. I guess you didn't care about getting Eve working for us... Obviously the staggered release was only to eliminate serious bugs from the Windows client. Also, crashing regularly (as well as just locking up) after jumping through gates. Would be nice if CCP would at least communicate if anything is being done to fix the mac issues with EVE.
Side note: love those big red structures in missions that slow performance down to a crawl.

Ok, so what I've noticed:
EVE screws over preferences on patches. SiSi reverts to TQ, a couple of things got toggled etc (god DAMN YOU CCP, why is the option to toggle 'special brackets' not stored in the EVE prefs file?! That got me really confused!). So I trashed preferences (manually & via ingame) and also reset the cache (ingame). Now, *that* client has random crashes. The one which I didn't reset (that has its own prefs file, untouched) doesn't quit. I'll be working on this later today, starting with copying that prefs file.
Oh and please oh please, get us instructions for the freakin logserver on OSX! You have plenty of people waiting to send you in reports if you just tell them *how*!

To run eve with logging:
first, run the terminal program
type into it the following 2 commands:
cd ../../../../../../../Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS
./cider -debugmsg +seh,+tid,+module,+debugstr &> ~/Desktop/EVEcrashlog.log
I have those commands stored in a text file so they can be entered quickly, as Id never actually remember them.

why did you use all the ../ you could have just typed /Applications/EVE\ Online.app/Contents/MacOS unless you have the EVE Online.app somewhere else.

I'm also having this issue, very frustrating when you're running with a gang. Jumping seems to be the prime cause but I've also had the client crash out of nowhere in warp or just sitting in space.

We have progress!! A pre-incursion 1.1 preferences set does *not* cause crashing, whilst a preference set created under the current build (1.2?) *does* cause crashing, as far as I can tell the crashing is linked to warps.
Anyone have anything more?

Well possibly our crashes to desktop are two separate bugs then, as my prefs are much older than that, yet I crash randomly when jumping, or sometimes - far rarer - doing anything. -- Frog blast the vent core! |

That *or* something you've done has updated the prefs to cause that bug since then. Either way, it's getting narrower. 'Preferences' is still a massive field to look in, but it's better than 'all the game' I guess ;)

Ok guys, i don't know if this might be a placebo, at some points i find out that the came crashes more commonly at certain hours than others.
i've had my mac client crashing every 4 minutes until I realized that this happened every time the UI had to be updated in some way. for instance, everytime you jump, the flashy thing in the wallet...
i also noticed that the client works better in fullscreen mode (more stable)
i changed the theme to total black to avoid difficult transparency effects from within the interface and it has worked quite well. 5 hours without a crash
however i'm fond that this will not be fixing the situation, i think it's just a placebo, and that probably the game crashes due to some other reason.
i thought it could be due to limits in temperature and the cider crossover/cedega api the client uses to run in mac. but that had nothing to do.
now i'm thinking in possible reasons... client behaves better when the laptop is in my desk than when I sit with it on top of my laps. could be caused because of the mac feature that turns the hdd off if it detects movement? maybe the windows-not-emulator api kinda screws there??
i don't know i'm just guessing wildly... atm 5 hours or so without a crash, sounds vivid, but i think it's more like a server side thing, nothing related to the client, as I said earlier on, i noticed that my client crashes more times in certain hours than in others.

one of my both client usually crashed those last days, the difference (again) was one client was "original" and the other was renamed (eve online2) i renamed the first one (crashing one) to eveonline1 (with pref folder the same) and i didn't experienced crash until now.
so 2 days with 14h = 28h without crash yepeee ! (but i lost my raven due to my neighbours, Frak why didn't it crashed there ! :s )
Flashing button could be also an interesting path to explore. I read somewhere that unallocated SP could be a problem too, i have both account with free SP and i will not allocate them to test for this.
so the pref folder keeps a lot of surprises indeed.

Mmm... you've a point. Whatever it is I hope to hell CCP fixes it sometime soon. I find I'm playing far less Eve having to reboot into Windows every time. No big surprise - I neglect almost every Windows game for the same reason :-( I long for a day when virtualisation works well enough to run demanding 3D windows games in OSX. The best I can manage on my machine is Half Life 1, and performance is still only just good enough to be playable. -- Frog blast the vent core! |

I started having a lot of random crashes and desyncs a few months ago with both my Mac and PC clients. They would begin with a desync after some random interval of inactivity on my part (afk, autopilot, etc.), followed by a crash once I tried to interact with the server again (check assets, market orders, jump through a gate, etc). I finally discovered the solution - run a continuous ping of Tranquility's IP address. Now both my Mac and PC clients are rock solid for hours at a time - even when I'm afk.

Now there's an idea......everybody perform a ping flood of the Tranquility server. That should help lag.

try and just ping your router/gateway, instead of the EVE server and see if that fixes the issue. This will prevent your TCP/IP stack from "sleeping" (sleeping isn't the correct term but is close enough)

Thanks for the suggestion. I dug through several threads (like this 52 page one started in 2008), but the solutions either didn't work, or went beyond my comfort zone with low-level tweaks to Windows and/or routers from companies I don't have. The continuous ping is one that actually worked - I just didn't think to subsequently dial it back down to my own network and see if that was sufficient.

So here's the latest from my testing with my Macbook pro:
Still have a LOT of problems connecting initially. usually it goes, Splash screen > .... nothing... Once I get the black screen, it usually loads. I suspect it has to do with the browser of all things. the IGB browser doesn't start sometimes so I am suspecting they are trying to instantiate a version of that in memory during start up and it is failing. Last night I tried and tried to get in and eventually had to restart my machine.
So by and large, the app start up is a HUGE issue for me.
The second issue is only when I fly cloaked ships. The issue is crashing to desktop. Last night i climbed into my new Viator for the first time and crashed no less than 3 times. It is by far my most expensive ship and to have it flying around uncloaked during hulkageddon due to a crash was un-nerving and extremly frustrating.
I gave up after the 3rd crash. I am going back to running the game in Windows which is a huge pain in the ass.
Also, i should note that i ran missions in my drake for almost 6 hours prior to the crashes and had no issues. That's why I think cloaking is a problem.

I can even send chat in game and it is displayed in my chat window, but to others I am disconnected. It can sometimes mean that I am disconnected for several mins without realising it. Not good.
Makes the game nigh on impossible to play as it happens at random points, and can happen several times in 5 mins, or not at all for a few hours.

We've been working on identifying potential causes for these crash issues over the last few weeks and think we might have some solid leads, if users that are experiencing random and sudden crash to desktop could try disabling the Multithreaded GL option in the escape menu (display setup section) and then report here if that proves to be a successful workaround.
Please note that this may not cover all the different issues being reported in this thread, for an example the network issues described in the last two posts sound completely unrelated to the random CTD problem. ------------------ Tester, Scrum Master Quality Assurance

I currently run 5 monitors, 3 video cards and 10 accounts
If I turn off Multithreaded GL, they become absolutely unplayable. I can't run more than 3 or 4 clients and all framerates drop to single digits. Is there a workaround for that?
I didn't start getting the disconnects until this latest 1.2 Patch client update 1, I haven't been getting them from the start. Mine also do not happen when jumping, they happen in station while chatting, or just doing whatever. I rarely jump or leave system on most of the toons,

Nope, not a successful workaround. I can still get CTD on demand by setting the graphics to high, undocking, and going to planet view mode over and over. Full details: bug report 107140
It seems to happen with the same frequency with multi-threading on or off.
Note that setting all graphics to low IS a workaround for me.

Same crashing issue. The majority of the time it seems to happen right after jumping through a gate, though it also happens upon initiating warp quite a bit. Crash straight to desktop, no log, nothing. Doesn't matter if the ping program is running, or if OpenGL is enabled or disabled. Seems to happen alot more often after the latest update/patch. I've gotten 3 crashes in under an hour quite often. This kind of crap shouldn't take this long to fix!

Edited by: Ravow on 01/03/2011 21:29:54 We got the same bug on Linux since Incursion. Random crash (Generally when you jump to another system).
The problem is that sometime, when your client request a character face (for the local...), CCP send back a 404 ERROR instead of the image.
The temporary fix for that is:
------------------------------------------ Put this in /etc/hosts 87.237.39.100 images.cdn1.eveonline.com ------------------------------------------
If it's the same bug, it should do it (you will see red "?" instead if the faces but no more crashs.
The problem has been "fixed" on Wine 1.3.13. But the real solution would be that CCP stop randomly send 404 error.
* EDIT : The crash on planet view may be a different one.

Running brand new MBP 15" 2.3Ghz quad-core. I notice high fan speed and a lot of heat (which I guess isn't a problem/or at least is to be assumed). What -is- a problem for me is the complete system lockups when (1) attempting to alt-tab out of eve, (2) attempting to close eve from the escape menu and (3) randomly when sitting around mining some asteroids. Same symptoms. Screen freezes, music eventually stops and the only response I get is from the mouse which seems to work when everything else is totally locked up/broken.
I'm not interested in running Eve in bootcamp as a fix. I will likely return the MBP as I bought it for gaming when on the road (alongside my work laptop) and the other game I've been playing, Sims 3, is also flaky. I'm guessing the real issue is that Mac's aren't really gaming devices outside of the iOS realm yet. Games or H/W or OS isn't stable enough. I don't tolerate these crashes well when I spend the big bucks for a stable platform. Good news is I can return the MBP -- unless its truly an Eve problem which just makes me think that Eve considers Mac users as second rate citizens since some of the problems I cite above have been going on for 6 months on my iMac at home as well. Oh well - lesson learned. |

Eve-Online and and Sims 3 are Cider port. The Macbook can do a good job for gaming on native game but most of the current game in sale are Cider "port" sold "as native" because they use Direct3D for there gfx API.
You can always try Wine+Windows client (Wine on Linux is know to be far superior than the transgaming stuff on Linux). I don't know for the Mac stuff but program for Linux and Mac usually have more that 99% of the code in common so this is probably true on mac too. The only disadvantage with that is that Wine don't came prepackaged with the game so you may need to turn on the geek mode first.
For the overheating problem, it's normal in a cider/wine transcoded game. usually, for one CPU core, +-20% is used for the game and the rest is to transcode Direct3D+Windows call into OpenGL+OSX call. The Video card stay under-exploited because the fastest CPU is still too slow to feed the video card for his max power. (I simplified it but it's like that).

Lets not derail this thread with a diatribe about performance under Cider etc.
The fact of the matter is that in general, the Mac client is/was generally pretty stable until this last patch (issued today, Mar 8). Now its crashing every other minute and restarting new processes before the old one quits. Never had to force quit the client till today, and I'm on the 4th round of force quits now.
Something changed in the latest patch that cripples the mac client and i highly doubt it has anything to due with the cider transport

Good to know. Where did you download the client? Every time I try to download it stops at 150MB or so, regardless of browser, connection speed, etc. (And BTW, my new MBP doesn't have this problem with any other file I download, including files substantially bigger than 150MB.)

1. I have experienced several sudden client crash since the last patch. Client just quits and is gone.
2. I've also had some issues with drones while running missions ... Drones that are killed dim in the overview but do not change to dead drone. They stay red.
3. And there have been times when i am checking sell prices on items and then attempt to move them out of hanger that the client tells me they are still "for sale".
There are obviously several issues with the latest patch that need to be fixed.
Too bad ... the client has been working pretty darn good up to this point with Incursion. Let's get it running smoothly again CCP!

Editing the hosts file makes no difference for me, still randomly CTD's. All my CTD's are when entering a new system, but its completely random when it happens, I can make a 32 jump round trip and no crashes, or I can jump into a next door system and CTD.
The only thing that remains the same are the crashes happen on the client I start second, first client started 'seems' to be rock solid.

I have never experienced the gate crash however I can almost be guaranteed a crash and inablility to restart the client when warping onto a busy grid (2-400 in combat).
...then I switch to a MBP 10.6.6, 2.66 i7, 8G...
This also crashes, although 'feels' more stable and less crash prone. It does have the added error of the 'unhandled exception, division by zero', discussed in another thread, after it crashes.
Sadly I have lost three ships due to the crashing and am tempted (vomit) to play in W7.
Please don't make me do this.

I was in the St. Patrick's Day Slaughter yesterday in O2O, things were going well until I got the crash to desktop. EVE just ups and quits without anything going on. Of course I was hosed at that point trying to get back into a system with 1200 clients in it. I managed to get back in later during loot scooping and got my carrier out.
Go to try to log in today though and it crashes on launch, no messages, no nothing. I agree before this latest patch the client appeared rather stable (and performance ain't bad on a Mac Pro 8x2.8, 16 GB RAM, 5870 and SSD boot and app drive). Not sure what they did but it's hosing the Mac client, I'm seriously considering going Boot Camp until it gets fixed.

X up here if you tried turning off the multithreading, it didn't work, you're getting annoyed, and you want CCP to provide an update.

Yes I have found the same, crashes on jumping gates too often for comfort which now makes cta and roams difficult. I've petitioned several times and found the replies unhelpful offering no solution. Come on CCP get it together, we have invested years of time and money, don't forget that!

Edited by: Chris Sphinx on 24/03/2011 15:54:12 For those of you getting these CTDs when jumping/autopiloting, have you tried repairing your permissions?
I use Yasu by Jim Mitchell (http://jimmitchell.org/yasu/) to clean-up & reset permissions every day. I've still gotten some CTDs, but it's not as bad as people are reporting in this thread.

I made the mistake of running a mission (my first activity lasting more than a few minutes in weeks) without rebooting into Windows first. Two crashes to desktop (first while fighting in a mission, second while jumping) in the last 10 minutes, costing me a full set of T2 drones. Joy.
Well, after I get back to my station, I'm rebooting into Windows... to play EverQuest 1 some more (I'm loving the new time-locked progression servers!). The hell with CCP - Eve is back on training mode with gametime paid for with ISK.

P.S. I can't believe this thread I created so long ago drags on as this crashing continues unabated :-( -- Frog blast the vent core! |

It might also be worth turning on the Cider trace log, if you find a way to replicate a problem.

I've had 0 (zero!) CTDs with the latest patch! And I've done a few hundred jumps in the past days.
Thanks CCP!

Amazingly the crashes to desktop seem to have nearly gone. In the past couple weeks I've only experienced one such crash which is a huge change for the better.
Here's hoping they don't come back as they have in the past. The current Mac version still lags behind the PC version in performance, but it is now fairly stable and quite usable. Please CCP, keep it that way :-) I've been burnt in the past, but if I never have to return to Boot Camp and the PC version of Eve, I'll be a much happier player. I might even start up another account now Eve for Mac's future seems brighter... still, I'll see how the next patch goes. As I say - I've been burnt in the past by CCP.
Either way - my appreciation to the devs responsible for the recent improvements. Cheers! -- Frog blast the vent core! |

I would be happy with a crash to desktop.
Since March, my Eve client will freeze and lock up my system, I need to power cycle with the manual button, nothing else works (key combo force quit or tab out does not work). I will freeze in station, in fleet, on gate jump, or looking at items in station. In other words, doing almost anything.
Any advice to at least avoid the manual system shut down? Is there something I am missing that prevents me from using the force quit option?
I have done a clean Eve install twice. I have cleared pref and cache on Eve in between clean installs. I have cleared system cache on my iMac, reset and repaired disk permissions. I have power cycled my router at home (fiber optic connection). I have run Eve in 'windowed' mode. I have turned off the GL function in Eve preferences, reduced graphics to low across the board. I use vent for voice, I have turned it off, I have always had Eve voice off. Yesterday I booted my iMac with the hardware test mode--nothing found broken on my system. Nothing works, and after a few months I am frustrated to the point of installing Windows 7 and using bootcamp to access the Windows Eve client.
Because eve by nature has consequences, I cannot play the game risking a system freeze when gate jumping in low sec or trying to run in a PVP fleet. I am ok with a few weeks of problems, but it has been months now.
iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB 800MHZ DDR2 SDRAM with OS X 10.6.7 Nvidia Geforce 8800 GS with 512MB VRAM
A final note, I have searched the Nvidia and Apple sites for driver updates, I could not find any that are advised or in beta for my card. Apple usually includes graphics drivers updates in OS patches, but I was wondering.
