Fragged a bot miner Hulk yesterday. Ahhh. Sweet revenge. A friend left the game in frustration due to the rampant bot mining and it's effect on the market. Human players are at a disadvantage if part of their income is due to mining.
So it was particularly satisfying to watch the Hulk go pop. System is free of bot miners today. Cool.
I will pop bot miners whenever possible. Please do the same if they bug you. The satisfaction is worth the cost.

Most miners are macros, even when they respond in local it is likely an automatic response. If you encounter one of these then I recommend killing their next hulk too, those macros never learn.

A hulk cost 200 million. it's a drop in the bucket for those botter, most of them probably have a few in the dock anyway. The time/ship you wasted killing the hulk will equal to them clicking a few buttons to fit up a new one.
Now if you get your alliance to camp him 27/4 that's a different story.

i do not understand you guys, to cause them grief simply war dec the corp, you can then kill anything that undocks and if they change corps, war dec it, it truely messes with their auto log mechacnisims

can't WD a starter corp. Maybe starter NPC corps should be removed from the game. Then we could WD all the bot miners... All for it.

I agree, I think that Starter corps should be limited to the trial characters, and once your time runs out you need to either be in a player corp, or automatically be set as a non-aligned independent with no corp assets till you join a corp or form your own. Either way, you available to wardec once your out of "training". ---

Even if it's a real player, everyone should learn to watch local, at least watch for their name being spoken, and to make some kind of response to private convos. And if they don't want to do either, well, they can take the loss and either keep losing or they can learn.

Please don't make facts up. It bites you in the ass.
Only 40% of minerals on the market comes from mining, the rest comes from loot reprocessing and drone compounds.

bots, loads of em about, easy to detect, easy to prove they are bots and easy to report, sadly no insurace fraud profit these days for popping em.
You gotta remember that loads of botters are stupid, they didn¦t write the macro they bought it, they bot with the aim to pay for game or because their main quite frankly sucks.
F12, Create New Petition, report them, their squeals help CCP combat the very few guys creating them for mass distribution and they can get reminded that most accounts get hacked that way too.

you know what would be cool? If you suspect a hulk is a bot, be able to demand proof by means of sending one of those things that weeds out bots on forums (like has the word "pizzahut" but it looks all crazy and is difficult for a human to interpret), and charge the challenging miner like 500000 isk so people don't do it frivolously, if the supected bot fails they win a million as a finders fee. Give the suspected bot 3 tries and/or 1 minute to complete the challenge, then if they fail make them red to everyone in system, and then it flags the suspected bot for review by ccp. It would be like self policing so the players could take out bots effectively.

not always true, if I'm mining and someone is bugging the crap out of me because I don't accept chat requests and they're bumping my hulk, I'll finish the cycle, dock and go and do something else, or change system. I don't chat in local as most of the conversation is either inane or non-existant and my cspa charge is set at something absurdly high to deter random chat requests. --------------------------------------------- Proudly posting with my Alt since 2009

This info is two years old, and there have been some changes since then. Notably, they reduced mission loot and increased the spawn rate for veld in highsec...

That time limit should be multiplied by about 10. Looking at EFT, an all l5 Hulk with two T2 mining upgrades and 3 T2 stippers mines about 1000 m^3 an hour and can be rigged to hold 10k m^3. So, I suppose most miners set up the mining lasers, then go do something else for 10 or so minutes.
And besides, this could sooooooo easily exploited for griefing. Hell, it is griefing.

Slightly wrong numbers. Hulks can be rigged and fitted to hold roughly 17k m3 at maximum, and decently fitted can yield up to 1700m3 approx per beam per cycle, so 3 x 1700 every 3 minutes on average. When fitted for high yield they can't hold as much ore due to mining upgrades taking up low slots, so that brings cargo back down to 8k m3 without cargo rigs and 10-13k with rigs and its in high yield fleets that orca's get used most. Personally I'm yet to see bots using orca's.

So just cos local chat is lame you wont say WTF in it, yeah right, your that cool, but maybe your just an alt who¦s got a bot who wants to deflect when they get pulled..... Now that's just as believable.

Wtf are you talking about? Don't you think you'r exaggerating a bit, or are you really that dense? I've played EVE for 3 years, and mined quite a bit of it. I do not recall ever seeing someone whom I suspected of being a bot. I'm serious.
Where are all these elusive swarms of bots everyone seems to rage against? Could it be.. that they're part of major "respected" alliances, and virtually nowhere else?
Hulkageddon was nothing more than an event to grief miners. Nothing more. CCP will not put a serious dent in the "bot population" because said "bot swarms" are residents of major alliances and corps that CCP is hesitant to butting heads with. You know, subscriber base and major-hitters and all that. That's just my opinion anyway.
On a side note, these forums are pretty sad. So much drama it hurts. The S&I section is nothing but people complaining about PI. GD is nothing but "am I pretty" threads. The rest is just filler material consisting of nerds nerd-raging and exaggerating almost nonexistent problems.
Anyway, until then, I'll be keeping a sharp eye out for these huge bot swarms. Maybe they're actually Sansha probe teams that have been doing reconnaissance EVE space for 5 years, waiting to strike. ------------------------------------------------ |
