Ok I recently trained skills so I could pilot all the races' battleships. I would like some help choosing a good one to start out with. Thanks for any help given.

Goat, you will have to be more specific as to what you want to use the BS for, before anyone can help you |

As Tegan says, you have to be more specific what you would like to do with your battleships.

Edited by: Goatman004 on 28/01/2011 04:30:35 Well I am not sure what I would want to do, I am kind of new to the "attack ships" I had been concentrating on mining and production at the beginning. And sorry for the misplaced topic this is like the second time I have used this forum.

Well I was hoping to move into PVP sooner or later, but as it stands I probably will get my butt handed to me in PVP right now. So I think PVE would be good for now, thanks for helping by the way.

It makes it hard to give you an answer if you dont know what you want to do with the beast. Like many of the ships it also depends on your other skills too. At this point with the information you have provided I could only suggest you get a Rokh. fit it wil 8 lasers and mine with it.

Goat, have you decided which Space to settle in yet?, I mean Amarr, Minmatar, Gallente, etc, cause the rats and missions there are different. It sounds like you want to do a lil PVE to learn a lil regarding resists, etc

Well you are right about what I want, and I probably will stay in Caldari space for now because I know it a little better. I know he was, I just had heard that it was good so I thought it might have an advantage.

Goat, well, this has been solid advise for a while, but Ravens do well at PVE. You can pick a specific damage type for the mission and missiles are good at dealing with rats at various distances which you will encounter on missions.

if you haven't done pve or pvp before, start in a smaller ship and get a feel for it first. it is not a good idea to start something new in the most expensive ship unless you like to lose all your isk as quickly as possible.
imo, for pve kill missions prob start in cruisers since they are cheap enough to replace while being overpowered enough to cut you some slack if you mess up somehow in beginner missions.
for pvp start in a frigate and don't be afraid to die often along the path to gain experience.
since you can fly any cruiser of your choice, prob head over to the missions forum and ask there what is the best cruiser for you for pve in in caldari space- that's my advice.

For PvE Raven, for PvP Amarr for BS's. If you want to get into pvp I would recommend to start in far cheaper ships to learn the basic mechanics of it though as they are very different from pve. Unless you are around 40 mil skillpoints I would say crosstraining all 4 races bs's is a pure waste at the moment to be honest, specialize in 1 of them.

A good starting battleship is the Machariel. Really simple to learn and easy to fly. Not to mention hard to kill!

What I would advise is to get someone to link you a good CNR PVE and a solid drake fit. Anything with red crosses on the drake start to train immediately and you find that when you want to jump in a raven much of the hard work has been taken out of it. Meanwhile you could easily get practice by running level 3's in virtual safety with the drake..

Goat,
I suggest you go for battlecruisers to start - aiming for level III missions to see how they feel for you.
The battlecruiser is a great ship to learn what you want to do because they are mostly "forgiving" in that you can make a mistake with a battlecruiser (in a level III mission) and usually can still make it out, and if the worst comes to the worst, well they are cheaper. They are also more forgiving of fitting mistakes (which happens often when they go from industrial -> combat)
Also training up battlecruisers for all races is much much easier than doing the same thing for all battleships as there is a single battlecruiser skill (you just need to train up cruisers to III to get into the BC)
Another important point is once you get into the BC you can really jack up the support skills - most of which (excepting maybe medium sized weapon systems) you will be using in a battleship anyhow.
Finally battlecruisers are all great ships to know how to fly, even once you can fly battleships well there will be times when the BC is the ship for the job.
After you fly the BCs around for a while you'll know a whole lot better what you will want to train for in the longer run, you'll have built up skills which will allow you to better fly any other ship and the skills you'll have access to one of the most popular ship types in all of EVE.
