Edited by: JonasML on 24/04/2011 17:57:23 Same problem as all these people. FORTUNATELY I have also got a laptop with hardware/software damn close to my recently re-installed desktop. Now I have a slow connection, living in the country as I do. I have previously copied EVE from one machine to another with no issues, though it is not may favorite thing in the world to do. I have copied eve from laptop to desktop, EVERYTHING, not only the /eve/ directory, also anything under users, program data, when I say everything I mean everything. What I haven't done is completely recopy my windows directory and all files in it (see below for possible missing file clues).
A few questions for CCP:
Who/where do I send the log files from each? The laptop runs, desktop, which has the same 32-bit Windows Vista, along with .NET and DX10, does not. Have logs from both, to compare successful and unsuccessful loadup.
In an effort to speed things up I've looked over the logs myself comparing the 2. Except for a few more "timeslice warning" on the laptop log (it is a slightly slower machine) they are the same. The major issue I found was line 386 (laptop)/381(desktop). My laptop says that the Trinity module starts, next line Direct3d, blah blah etc it works. The desktop says
"execute failed on ('script:/../../../carbon/client/script/graphics/device.py', 'compiled'): ('DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found.', '_trinity', 'trinity')"
and then is followed by
"execute failed on ('script:/../../../carbon/client/script/graphics/graphicWrappers/loadAndWrap.py', 'compiled'): ('DLL load failed: The specified module could not be found.', '_trinity', 'trinity')"
So, does EVE do some .dll file additions? And what are they? I can root them out if I can get some names from the appropriate directories on the laptop. If I can copy them over that will save me another 4-8 hours of downloading the full eve install (as I said, slow connection).
Again, I have used this copy process in the past to update the desktop after major patches (hehehe work has nice shiny T1, my little laptop zooms away)and never had any issues with it. Up until my unrelated HD crash that is.
And Happy Easter. Wish I had this issue last week as I might get answers before the download finishes lol.
