I'm desperately trying to build a vherokior female that isn't totally ugly (witness my current attempt).
Here's a vietnamese woman whose face I was trying to replicate. I'm having troubles simply because I've obviously chosen the wrong morphology to aim for, and keep coming up with something that looks like a poor attempt at parodying this chinese woman.
If only we could alter the eyes beyond simply moving them around on the face! Does anyone have hints for making a lean Vherokior female face? The best I've managed so far is this.
à and now off to bed to wonder if I'm not putting far too much effort into creating this silly portrait.

I got a lot of evil necromancer, vampire medusa quotes in the "what is the above character thinking" thread, so I'm not sure if I did a good job or not.

You can do quite alot with it. Proportions and the angle of the portrait shot go a long ways to letting you get the effect you want. Try working from the side and adjusting the front to back positioning of facial elements, that should help some to narrow the appearance of the face. |

How about searching "divine facial proportions" on google and "asian female face" and "asian female facial profile" on google image search. It might also help not to copy the face directly from the image you choose, since you propably can't replicate it precisely in the CC. That lack of precision might alter the proportions of the face and make it look bad. This is where knowing the proper facial proportions comes handy.

Edited by: Jada Maroo on 28/01/2011 15:15:37 It takes some work getting the eyes to look right. My last two tries I went with aviators because it was such a hassle. But I think I tweaked Jada to the point where I'm now pleased enough with her eyes to show them.

my main issue with Vherokior are eyes. way too narrow. makeup helps, but making them more open would be much better. upper lip i can deal with, but eyes just don't work. ________________________________ : Forum Bore 'Em : Foamy The Squirrel - [jedi handwave] "There is no spoon." |

Meh .. none of you look remotely like the latina girl most 'old style' Vherokior girls resembled. You just adjusted to the way CCP wants you to look now.

Actually, not knowing their history, I thought they were supposed to be Native American, because the old male ones definitely looked that. I was surprised when the new editor had them as Asian.

That has nothing to do with being "hopeless". The impression you gave was that it was impossible to create a decent Vherokior face, which isn't true. Now you're saying it's because the races are so wildly different, which still doesn't make sense because the ultimate goal is still plausible.

Let me rephrase that: the 'new' Vherokior are hopeless to make them resemble the way they used to look - which was the reason picked them in the first place.

Moving the upper eye lid will increase or decrease the slant on the outside of the eye. You can also open the eyes up a bit more, esp when in the portrait mode.
I believe moving the eye's up and out a bit will also help make it not look so Asian, if that's what you're going for.
I think I got this char to look more like Native American Indian or Hispanic. Either way it's close to the original.

Best thing to do is take your time and make many small movements, you can always go back to the creation screen if the portrait screen doesn't look good. Just don't finalize it.

I like the native American look. But it shouldn't take as much tweaking as it does to get a little more width to the eyes.
I really hope CCP gives them just a little more leeway. 'Course it will mean free portrait redo number 3.

I tried making a vherokior.
Unfortunately, CCP seemed deadset on making vherokior having squinty, small eyes. Dunno why they force these on vherokior...
So, after finding that out, I quit trying to make one

I empathically disagree as well... Moreover, I'm amazed by the level of variety that is allowed by the CC.

Also, I found that all gallente, gallente eyes look like a dear who's just got caught in a head light. AKA you all look surprised permanently.
Terrible imo... glad I got lucky with the Khanid, personally.

I didn't bother trying to lean. I softened the face by making the cheeks a little fuller, and then adjusted the lighting to give me the look I wanted. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do with the eyes. All the Vherokor females look like they've recently been attached to a morphine drip. --Vel

It takes a *REAL* female to make a good looking female.
You sick and twisted faeries wouldn't know a real female if she walked up and kicked you in your duct taped nuts.

when modelling keep rotating the face, also lips can be puffed out a lot more to resemble your desired result.
also try without make-up and use lighting more for mugshot

Civire? Strange.
When I tried to make a civire, I couldn't do ANYTHING to make it look like a woman. It just looked like a very angry man/woman hybrid.

Whenever I try to make the cheeks "fuller", it looks like my character has a giant tumor that wraps around her entire jawline.

LOL.
It doesn't take a female. It takes someone who can study anatomy and use the tools at hand to replicate it. Unfortunately, the tool at hand is somewhat difficult to use. --Vel
