First, some words for haters and trolls alike: We all know that quitting is the best option. But nobody can't deny that water vapor is less harmful than tobacco smoke so STFU.
I noticed there are some e-cig users around here. How did you started? what model are you using? Manual battery or auto? Refillable cartridges or disposable? Do you still smoke regular cigarettes? How does your health feels now?
I've been vaping for 4 days now. Use to go trough 25 regular cigs per day and I've smoke only 5 per day since I started vaping. I started cheap with an Njoy NPRO (which is actually an RN4081). It's automatic battery and pre-filled/sealed/disposable cartridges. Cartridges have the atomizer in it, disposable as well of course. But at $19.95 USD its a good starting point.
I'm planning on ordering a 510 (like the JoyE), with manual battery, separate atomizers, empty/refillable cartridges and a USB pass-trough.
Non e-cig users, your comments/questions are welcomed too. :D

As a pack a month smoker, I'm actually somewhat interested. Regular cigarettes go stale after a couple of weeks. How do the e-cigs compare with the analog combustion ones? and further more why do i even need a sig? |

I've only been at it for 4 days so dunno. I've heard some people watch the e-liquid sales and stock up on years worth of liquid nicotine. |

This.
You need this.
I'd stop smoking entirely if I could just plug my e-cig in and puff away. As it is, I'm forever absentminded and always end up smoking conventional cigarettes due to forgetting to charge batteries.

Mina, pass-trough adapters are pretty cheap ($10-$14 USD). There are also some extended batteries. But the real winner IMHO is the pass-trough/battery hybrids:
Example 1
Example 2
It is both a battery and a pass-trough at the same time. One side screws into the atomizer/cartridge while the tip has a standard USB connector. And no special charger is needed, any standard USB cable will do. :D

Niiiiiiiiiiiice.
Actually just broke down and ordered a passthru. And some curious e-liquid that supposedly bears a similarity to Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum. I have a feeling it's going to be hideous, but the potential for hilarity is worth that risk I think.

Oh, I should be helpful as well.
Haven't played with the pre-filled cartridges at all, nor have I experimented that much with e-liquid (aka, the tasty nicotine-bearing juice). But I'm currently using a beaten up looking bottle of ULTRApure from InnoVapor, which is at least eight months old. Still has the same flavor it did when I first got it.
And at least for the non-prefilled cart/atomizer combos, you can pretty much disassemble and clean everything when not in use.

Edited by: Barakkus on 29/01/2011 19:08:53 I have Blu e-cigs. They're alright, their cartridges suck though. I get Nucig cartridges for them.
I do find myself smoking regular cigarettes regardless though. I'm thinking about getting the Nucig e-cigs that have the atomizers built into the cartridge because the atomizers eventually wear out.
They don't produce the same feeling of smoking a normal cigarette, it's not as "thick" feeling of the smoke when you inhale the vapor, but you will notice a big improvement in lung function after a month or so of just smoking e-cigs. If you want to quit or at least not damage yourself as much I would highly recommend switching.
They do save you money. You'll spend about half as much on e-cigs than you would spend on real cigarettes. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

Cairn, with the right flavoring (to match your usual brand), equipment (to produce a good amount of vapor) and the right liquid (to match your nicotine % intake), it feels just like the real thing. I even noticed that if I take a really big puff, it kicks and make me cough just like the real ones. Some things are different tho, here's a small list of what I've found:
How fast can you suck on it
A real cig is burning at the tip. The faster you suck the more it burns. On the e-cig, the atomizer creates vapor at a fixed rate. If you suck faster you get more air and less vapor... if you suck slower you get more vapor and less air.
Weight of the cig
E-cig weights more than a regular cig. Depending on the model it might be a little bit difficult to hold it in your mouth alone, without using your hands.
I'm sure there are more differences but those 2 is what I've found so far.

I smoke winstons for real cigarettes normally, wouldn't mind getting something similar that works well. I have problems getting the e-cigs I use to work right sometimes. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

Wistons should be easy to duplicate... just mix some dirty water with the e-juice to give it a nasty flavor (lol... just trolling... sorry) nah, for real, wistons are very popular, it should be easy to find some flavors that are just like it.

I honestly stuck to the e-cig for about 2 months then at times i would crave a real cig. I tried the Blu ones since they came with a handy case that looks like a cigarette pack and it charges them on the go. Needless to say I started smoking again...
For some people it works I met someone that had been using it for 2 years without a craving, but for me it just made me want to have a real smoke.

I hear this a lot. I can't say I'll forever quit myself as I'm just a noob at this. But even if you just cut down on tobacco by using the vapor some of the time, you still win in my book. As per the cravings, may be due to using cartridges with a low nicotine content. That's why I favor the refillable cartridges. I can fill it up with exactly the right liquid for me, right nicotine content, right flavor, etc. |

That's my problem currently. The atomizers in the Blu cigs don't work so well. I'm thinking about trying to Nucig ones since I already get their cartridges. I'll let you know how it works out :P
I actually had a doctor tell me if I'm going to smoke, to smoke winstons or american spirits. I worked at a cafe in my 20s and both my bosses smoked american spirits, they're kind of strong. She said both are natural with no checmical additives, and she was right. There is a noticable difference once you smoke naturalish cigarettes for a while. I used to smoke camel and marlboro, I can't touch either of them now, they make me feel like I'm catching a cold after smoking just 1. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

There's actually both e-cigars and e-pipes not sure about the taste though.
My problem is that I haven't found e-juice with the right cigarette-death-taste that I crave. I've tried both "mboro" and "kamel" but neither was right. But I'll keep on trying new ones because I think it's a great alternative.

The problem most people have with stuff like this (same thing with trying to lose weight) is that they focus SO hard on it "must not smoke must not smoke, not allowed to smoke!" that it becomes even more of an obsession. And when it then, inevitably, goes wrong they go "see, I'm useless at this, I might as well quit trying" and they go back to their old habit.
It's way better to (as someone sorta stated above) just see your efforts as a guideline, and expect setbacks and failure and even plan for them but DO see them as a temporary thing. You can try to diet fastidiously and give up the second you have a setback. Or you can treat it as a guideline and accept the fact that sometimes you'll be unable to resist the urge, as long as you move on from there.

Plastic gives off lots of carcinogens. Tire rubber when people do burnouts is one of the worst things you can inhale. It's chock full of Dioxins and Benzene. Even the 'new car smell' is highly toxic.
You might actually be worse off with these.
