I'm trying to get what you're coming from. Apparently your assumption is that EVE has its own distinctive style and the options that CCP's editor offer don't always result in the desired style.
RP wise I wonder if someone who floats around in goo to be able to control their ships isn't also still human. We're not born as capsuleers, were were people with families and friends before that, with all the corresponding social things like looks and style and personal taste of what's good looking and what's desirable.
Now we're allowed to get out of the pods again, wouldn't it be viable that we would take our past as reference when we adjust our looks for out of pod interactions? Some capsuleers may have been pretty, some may have been very ugly, some may have been from sophisticated elite families and others may have been lowly space punks - as we know talent, background and looks arenŠt related.
So it wouldn't be surprising when pilots have very difrerent looks and styles once they exit their ships. Why the emphasis on certain looks and discard the others while it's perfectly probable that we may (want to) look very differently?
