This issue has come and gone several times now since first been identified after incursion came out. It's obvious that it has been fixed at the ISP's end and then has broken down again somewhere else along the way, fixed again and broken again.
How can this problem be addressed once and for all as it is back yet again making the game unplayable during these same time periods every single day.

Edited by: Doobie Man on 24/04/2011 14:41:44 Guys this is a known problem with Optus International connections during peak. Check out this Whirlpool (Australian Broadband forums) thread (The second after the first thread maxxed out at 50+ pages a week or two ago.
Whirlpool Optus International Congestion Thread
This has been a known issue since 1st of December last year, Optus keep claiming that thier next capacity upgrade will fix it - and it doesn't. I'm off to Telstra - already booked in, Optus is a bad joke lately...

Anyone have any updates regarding this issue - its killing my game. Ive done a tracert and the breakdown in ping starts after it leaves my isp. Should i put another petition in? Is there any word from ccp regarding potential longterm fix (ie maybe go back to pre-incursion when eve wasnt flagged as torrents?)
Need a solution asap as i simply cannot play during my only availqble gametime during the week. |

Bit of twoing and frowing but I have this to report, all praise Snr GM Retrofire
4/26/2011 7:45:00 AM I checked with our Operations department and it seems we did contact Optus on this quite some time ago to try locate the cause of this. However since the problem is still apparent I can only conclude that neither our operations personnel nor Optus personnel were able to locate the cause of this on either end.
Best regards, Senior GM Retrofire
Sent - 4/27/2011 7:48:00 AM Thanks alot for your efforts in this matter. As I understand the situation was back in January there was an issue and Optus was contacted by CCP, it is not common knowledge what was discussed but the issue was resolved. Resently (Mid March) it appears to have returned, exactly the same circumstances.
It is the general feel of the Optus customers that play eve that it would be a great help if CCP contacted Optus again and confirmed that, what was discussed in January is not the issue.
Since January' issue, Optus have started routing peak time traffic (6pm) through a UK complany Tata.
If CCP are not prepared to contact Optus, could they please provide a summary of the issue in January so that I can deliver it to Optus myself on behalf of the gaming community impacted by this problem. I completely understand that this is not an issue with Eve, but we lack any technical arguement to have them look into, thus they advise its an issue with CCP and around we go.
Sent - 4/28/2011 12:12:00 AM Hmm that explains a few things, we have received reports for the last few months from Optus customers so we though that situation had never been solved. I'll contact the operations guy who handled the case originally with this update information in hope he'll be able to help Optus find the cause of this and solve it.
If you have any further specific information on this please do update the petition with this information so we have as much on this case as possible.
Best regards, Senior GM Retrofire EVE Online Customer Support
There is hope for us contracted ISP restricted shmucks yet

Hope it works out for you guys. I'm pretty sure all its going to take is a simple shaper profile update.
BTW Tata are an Indian company last I checked
I could see this trainwreck coming last December when Optus gave everyone massive data allowances but did absolutely SFA about upgrading their international transit to cope. "Oh no we won't be throttling data back to zero at peak times" - uhuh and there goes some flying breakfast

I went to log on tonight at around 8:30pm AEST just before downtime. Normally it would have been laggy as hell and unplayable but this was not the case tonight. Im an Optus customer and as in my previous post have had the same frustrations as other users in this thread. Can any other Optus user confirm whether this problem has been fixed or is it just a fluke?
