The bottom line is that the damage advantage of blasters is too small to be a significant factor in deciding ship choice.
I recently flew some Megathrons and some Tempests, the Megathron did more damage, but I had to waste a low slot on co-processor just to fit standard t2 mods. And in actual combat, I haven't noticed any difference in killing power.
Next time I fly a short range BS, I'd pick Tempest over Megathron simply cause I don't want to waste a low slot on co-processor, and cause Tempest, unlike Megathron, is easy to fit with 1 heavy neut, which is a major advantage. Tempest even has viable 2 heavy neut setups
And then there's the Abaddon for massive tank+gank fit, another great alternative. The Hyperion looks pretty bad compared to that. If you can fly both ships, why would anyone pick Hyperion over Abaddon?
Again, the bottom line: blaster damage advantage too small to matter.

if I'm not mistaken the 2 EANM should easily be replaceable by 2 ANPs and a meta 4 neut (cba to eft 4 u).
Edit: ARRGGG.... i just noticed a repper there... is that a pve fit? and hobgoblins? why?
ok I suppose ANP makes sense, but meta 4 medium neut is too expensive
The hobgoblins are useful when there's a frig attacking, as the blasters are completely useless against them. This was fit for small gang roaming, so the chance of encountering frigs is high.
The rep is fitted for several purposes: *) had Damnation with gang links in fleet *) combined with overheat + standard Exile booster, it gives more HP than another plate during a battle that lasts more than 60 seconds. With 2 plates and 3 trimarks, battle is likely to be over 60 seconds. And overheat can last a long time with 1 module among 7. *) when roaming in 0.0, it may be difficult to dock for repairs after every small engagement.
Of course if I was roaming with 2+ other battleships, I'd prefer full RR fit
The rep doesn't require significant CPU, just grid. It's CPU that's the problem.

Ok that is a decent fit, but you gotta admit that full t2 fit is very difficult for Megathron, specifically on CPU. And Minmatar don't have such problems.
also, I wouldn't have so many bs deaths if I wasn't hot dropped every day. One of those deaths is a titan DD
