THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THIS!!
I linked it in the MOTD for our entire alliance. It's a phenomenal tool for new players.
My comments are that it looks beautiful and is easy to understand, but like others, had to figure out a way to open it independently in an adobe reader so I could zoom in and that does hurt its effectiveness a bit.
I love the look of it and think its chock full of great info!! Thank you for the hard work!!

I think it looks really nice and is a big improvement. However the double page reading lets it down for me. ISK 2.0 worked quite nicely on my Kindle and was an excellent guide as I was playing as a result, please if there is anyway to change that then that would be great,

ISK 3.0 Lite goes to EVE Store
The guide EVE players have been crying out for since 2003 is finally here! Updated to include changes up to Incursion 1.4, ISK is the most exhaustive guide to EVE ever compiled.
No matter whether you are a beginner on a 14-day trial account or a veteran trader; maybe a fierce pirate, a determined miner, a pilot who has years of experience in mission running or a three-month-in noob - there is no pilot who has tried and done everything or knows all there is to know about EVE. Beginner or expert, this Guide - known as the Industrial-Sized Knowledgebase - is for you!
Expertly written by a number of specialists in their field, beautifully designed by the EON Magazine team, and officially endorsed by CCP, this guide covers just about everything you can do in EVE. If you need to know something, just look it up in this book. Of course you do not have to commit everything to memory; just open the ISK 3.0 Guide and you will find your answer.
EVEÆs infamous learning curve can now be overcome!
Note: You are pre-ordering the printed version of ISK 3.0 Lite Edition, updated (Incursion 1.4) from the downloadable pdf currently available from isktheguide.com. In order to receive the $5 pre-order discount during the pre-order period, please apply coupon code ISK305 at checkout. You will be notified by email when your order is dispatched. Oh, and go tell your mates the guide they need is finally here!

Problem 1: the EVE Store lists a shipping rate of 0.00 $ I do not believe that shipping is free
Question 1: same format as shown on fanfest (Din A4, Linkage) ?
Question 2: till about when is the preorder-period where we can buy it for 30$ ?
Question 3: you talked about a premium edition. can you tell us what extras the premium edition will have and when it is planed to be released ? I do not want to be annoyed by buying the lite version and later seeing that the premium edition was some interesting extras for just costing a little more money
Question 4: will the updated free pdf (incursion 1.4) be available before the preorder-period ends ?

Edited by: Purloin Darkly on 03/04/2011 01:47:50 Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but after looking at the PDF version of this guide i notice it mentions nothing about the Incursions that pop up randomly. I presume these NPC incursions where introduced to EVE with the expansion of the same name, and as the ISK 3.0 Guide summary states that this guide is upto date up to the Incursion 1.4 patch I found it a tad suprising there is no mention of these random PvE encounters. I've pre-ordered the Guide anyway in the hopes it will help me get up to speed with the current state of the game and aid me in my first few steps through it (2 weeks and counting), but i'm a touch concerned that if this guide neglects to mention something like this that there maybe other areas of the game not mentioned.
Of course I could be wrong and the PDF version is incomplete and the printed one ive so recklessly spent my hard earned ús on will have this information included. I certainly hope so.
P.S. I'd love to know when our pre-orders will be shipped, any guesses?

That plan has changed a little bit.
Instead of æliteÆ and expanded æpremiumÆ editions, we will be publishing two separate print volumes. There are a few reasons, but the main one is that after printing prototype copies of the lite edition, we realized itÆs anything but light. As for the new æPremiumÆ chapters that are in development, they are almost certain to weigh in at another 350-400 pages - another guide in themselves!
Ostensibly then, Vol.1 is the current lite edition (although it will be fully updated for Incursion 1.4), the print edition of which, as previewed at Fanfest, is available now on pre-order from the EVE Store for $35. If you apply the checkout code ISK305 during the pre-order period (until April 14th) you will enjoy a $5 discount on your order. As with EON magazine, shipping is from the UK and costs $10 to UK addresses and $15 to all other countries. At 1.5kg itÆs a weighty beast.
For those that visited us at Fanfest to talk about the guide, thank you all for your valuable comments. We will be going for a wiro-bound edition, but with more substantial rings and thicker cover stock. The prototypes held up pretty well after three days of near-constant thumbing by hundreds of people, but we will make it sturdier so it can endure the rigours of the modern desktop environment.
The free PDF version will remain free, but will be available as both a æDouble Page SpreadÆ version and a æSingle PageÆ version, by popular demand.
ISK Vol.2 will focus exclusively on PvP in all itÆs various forms. When we say all forms, we mean of course combat forms. It will be a very comprehensive manual for all levels of ship-to-ship combat, from low-sec piracy to null-sec starbase sieges and fleet engagements, aimed at everyone from the rank-and-file grunt to the high-level fleet commander. It will include guides for all the combat hull types.
We will announce availability of Vol.2 in a few weeks. It will almost certainly weigh in the same and cost the same as Vol.1 (with the same pre-order discount). There will be a digital version of Vol.2 but it will not be free. PvP content is pretty good in Vol 1 already, so you shouldnÆt feel short-changed. In Vol.2 it will be more focused around roles and various tactical situations and will be very exhaustive.

Edited by: Laci on 07/04/2011 11:25:12 Hi, we got a few question related the plans changes.
"This has me confused, so you are doing another version of the ISK Guide with the premium chapters added? If so when? IÆm starting to wish I hadnÆt been so hasty in pre-ordering now."
The original plan was: we make the lite and a premium version.
The plan was: Lite: The current content Premium: The current content + a "pvp guide"
THE NEW PLAN:
Title: Industrial-Sized Knowledgebase [ISK] - Volume 1 Content: Introduction, mining, ship-fitting, PI, R&D, manufacturing, production, trade, agents, 0.0 life, exploration, starbases Format: Digital download pdf & print Pages: 400 approx Availability: pdf (out now - update pending) - print (late-April 2011) Price: pdf (free), print ($35 + mailing - pre-order discount available) EVE version: Incursion 1.4.1
Title: Industrial-Sized Knowledgebase [ISK] - Volume 2 Content: PvP basics, PvP by system security, PvP by fleet roles, fitting for PvP, PvP by fleet size, tanking in theory and practise, weapons, EW, logistics, ship guides Format: Digital download pdf & print Pages: 400 approx Availability: pdf (summer 2011) - print (summer 2011) Price: pdf (<$30 - TBC), print ($35 approx - TBC) EVE version: TBD
If we would stay with the original "premium" content version, then the printed guide would be more than 900 pages which is too big for release (and the printed version would be too expensive. )
If everything goes right, there should be a Dev Blog in a few days (i hope sooner than usual soonÖ)
Fly Safe! Laci

the invention guide contradicts the wiki ... come on!
also it says that beams are high damage weapons when in fact pulses are high dps with trade-off of a short range while beams are lower dps but longer range.
I wouldn't recommend this to a newbie, too much misleading information.

How about re-reading page 96 again before making inaccurate statements?

what's on page 96? I see only damage modules table.
Anyway here is the quote from page 90 I was talking about :
Quote:
Beam Lasers fall in the bigger æappetiteÆ and bigger damage dealing category.
Ok it says above this that pulse lasers have higher DPS, but IMO this phrase supersedes that (hence misleading/contradictory), I think it should be stated more clearly that although alpha might be bigger, the theoretical DPS is still less than of equivalent pulse.
Maybe it should be stated in the introductory section about all turrets: basically there are 2 kinds of each turret class - 1. close range, high DPS, low alpha, high tracking - blasters, autocannons, pulses. 2. long range, low DPS, high alpha, low tracking - rails, artillery, beams.
maybe drop the alpha part, I am not sure it's so for all the cases.
just an opinion, sorry if my first post seemed a bit rough.

Edited by: Mnengli Noiliffe on 07/04/2011 12:32:42 page 269:
Quote:
If you do not use a decryptor, then it will not matter if the BPC has max runs or not. If you do, then a max run BPC may add +1 run to the result BPC in the case of ships or rigs, and +10 runs in the case of drones, ammunition or modules.
wiki says that max run ammo BPC produces 10 run t2 BPC in case of success even without decryptors.
I can confirm this, but I did not try less than max run BPC or any decryptors (they're too expensive for ammo invention). However, I hardly believe that using 1 run bpc would as well produce 10 run BPC...

Do people really need a guide to point and click? Good for you guys for making 700 pages of cut and pasted stuff that already exists, but meh....Eve really isn't worthy of a guide that friggin huge. Give us some stuff we don't already know and I'd be all for it. I'm way too lazy to make my own guide, though. So kudos for that.

Hi Laci,
1/ Thank you for the hard work, that's an useful guide. 2/ P. 82 : (150/400=0.375) 37.5%, so 62.5% of the charge is eliminated - and not 72.5%.
Have fun.

Originally by: Gilroy Marcellus I really like ISK 3.0, but would it be possible to get a text-only/minimal graphics version? I'd like to take ISK 3.0 with me on my phone, but it's a bit fiddly to read on my phone in its current format. I also agree with other people's comments about the format - A4 would be much better.
+1 I'd really much like to read one or two chapters while on the bus, but my phone is loading each page for one minute; and that's on a 1GHz CPU. The format doesn't bother me really and my pdf-reader can set bookmarks even on protected pdf. But the loading time is just awful.
