When eve went retail and we were a small corp long before fountain existed we used to mine and hunt out there. then the fountain allinace was founded and we were told to sling out hook more or less....so last night it was decided it made sense to unrent our offices there which i sett on my merry way to do.....i got to the station mostly unmolested and was on my way to dock when i was warp scrambled and held up and was asked why i was here....and after saying i was here to unrent the offices i got all manner of grief as to why i didnt go through the fa council to unrent....i was even told after unrenting them because they were still showing as being owned by us our corp would be on kos list for having offices here......and this is where my gripe is i was clearly telling them my intentions yet we were still getting grief for it and i clearly wasnt an alt spy as was evedent for corp description and info etc....why are these alliances so unfriendly to non pirate non aligned players when i was no threat at all to anybody

Mostly because they have nothing better to do then PvP and grief.. If it was me i would have just not paid the rental bill for that office and it would eventually expire, save the trip out there.
Unless there was stuff in the office of course..

Edited by: Oosel on 26/01/2005 17:27:44 i dont hate alliances i just feel they shoot themselves in the foot by being so bolshy with it.....on the one hand you have the ccp exodus expansion wanting to get people out into 0.0 and on the other player alliances point blank stopping you from doing so....i dont mind so much as i can prosper anywhere it just seems counter productive...

Despite the bleating anti-FA brigade (so would the result have been different if it had been pre-breakup CA, Bob in control etc?) there are protocols if you wish to enter alliance-controlled space - did you speak to anyone beforehand from FA about this to arrange passage? Could you not simply allow the rents to go unpaid as someone else suggested?
If you read these forums, you'd see that the Fountain Alliance are currently under attack from .. well.. just about everyone and wandering into a warzone without prior arrangement is simply showing a lack of intelligence and no amount of crying here will change that.

They arent unfriendly, they are protecting their territory. And territory changes over time. FA sells access to their space, and if they dont shoot tresspassers, why sell if you give it away for free ?

There is a difference between saying "Thx for letting go on the offices but now I have to ask you to leave our space as you are not authorized without a proper pass, and pls contact the alliance council for such matters in the future etc etc" and "Those offices do already belong us now get the **** out of here or I'll send u right back to the cloning station, oh btw why havent you contacted the council you bloody noob", well u know what I mean.
This is not directed at FA or any alliance in particular but FA is well known for its over zealous actions when it comes to such matters. The man is trying to give you the offices, and you put him on KOS list.. WOW gotta be a logic behind it that my humble intelligence cant figure out

I have to say that fountain had a much better community spirit in the pre-alliance days, but FA are under attack on all fronts atm so its understandable that they are especially touchy about intruders these days althought Ive known certain FA corps to shoot people from neutral corps who are leaving the area peacefully.

I myself am in the Fountain Alliance as you can see from my sigs, but I havent always been in it :). I was in a corp that operated in aridia and then fountain once it opened in the beta, FA was formed and although I didnt join initially I am part of it now and enjoying life in eve.
We do have strict rules regarding entrance to our space, and we police these to the best of our abilities. Although some posts suggest FA is unfriendly we are one of the more peaceful alliances out there, and as there are alot of hostiles in or near our space unknown ships tend to be KOS rather than take the risk of them warping away and running around our core systems.
Some things that may not be clear, we have several ways you can buy a passport. Contact a CEO of an FA corp or join the Fountain channel ingame (though that isnt used alot now).
I apologise for any heavy handed tactics by any of our forces, and I would like you to evemail me with any details you have. Hopefully I can sort this out for you. Again Id like to make it clear that it isnt the FA way to blow up ships for no reason, we have rules and they are there for a reason.

When a pilot is so badly informed of galactic politics that he wanders idly over the borders, I feel no sympathy.
Get informed, you morons! The alliances have been there for a long, long time, and they are forced to shoot down some ships if they are to defend any sort of borders.
To use a RL analogy (I know, I know...), make sure your VISA is up do date before you strut past the border patrol. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

Cos if they didnt theyd have every tom **** and harry and all there dogs cats and gerbils a) hunting npc's b) mining c)using said alliances resources to keep them safe and pirates out.
Basically its the same for every alliance. They dont want you there, you do no good being there, and they use there money to keep there space and hold onto resources and good npc's. Your lucky u got asked id of just podded you if i still in FA.
And posting on the forums whining aint gonna help your cause im sure your gonna enjoy your permanent negative standings.

Have you tryed to enter any other alliance controlled space i can assure you FA is not the only place they take down any unknown ship.
Try and enter some other alliance space like SE, XF, FIX or RA and see how long you will stay alive there, i can tell you this it wont be long.
So i say this: Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Cuz fountain has Arkonor, and is one of only two areas that does. You can't blame them for being protective of their primary asset with megacyte prices being what they are these days. Fountain's also in an extremely good place, geographically, like Venal and Curse used to be before the smugglers' gates opened up. In fact it's the only region that's been able to get overlooked by CCP to keep its geographical isolation reasonably intact. Just one more hole to plug where other areas got 3-12 of them. Fountain talks a big talk, and is easonably competent, militarily, which i how most 0.0 alliances are. Blustering and bullying is the best way to ensure a proper amount of fear so the noobs dont come pouring in and strip their carefully farmed arkonor dry.
