Ok, I think I see the strategy now. Back when t2 was considered avantgarde and players were surprised that battleship losses didnt make the BBC news desk, it seemed that something as gargantuan as a Dreadnought would be a fairly rare purchase. One per eternal imperial galactic dictatorship sort of thing. I mean how many darth vaders can one alliance have? But no, the economics of eve dictated that every tom, **** and indeed harry (did that get censored?) have one. Bereft of shock value - CCP did what any insane godlike creative demiurge would do and bestowed upon us some very expensive toys indeed. Now, surely, a ship that cost as much as a decent car IRL wouldnt become de-rigeur? It did not (although the numbers are still climbing). But CCP could not abide the false idols it had created in Dreadnought form. CCP is a jealous god. It demanded a nerfing, and lo - there was an almighty nerfing.
But heres the thing: we all have these bloody things. Why not have a dreadnought tourny? all dreads to be fitted with 3 civilian railguns loaded with dangerous lead ammo, and nanofit for high rates of ponderous speed. First dread to armor is the winner. Then cyno in 3000 concord and put the rest out of their misery.
