Ive got a question about these and sensor dampners.
If...
1) someone has a lock range of 80km 2) they get hit by about 7 senser dampners and have thier lock range reduced to something stupid like 5 km. 3) Then they load up a load of fof cruise
will thier fof cruise lock targets outside thier 5 km sensor range? Or will they only be able to target ships inside his 5km range?

FoF dont need a lock, they just hit the next best thing in space. (friend or foe)
Its only the flight time and velocity of the missiles that matter. Seriously Have I Not Said How I Can Assist Some One You Are Killing Online? |

Yup.. I appreciate they dont need a lock..
I was under the impression they will only go for targets inside the firing ships targeting radius.. which if for example it was 5 km, means they wont got for targets more than 5 km away..???

Speaks for itself really. FoF are autotargetting and do not use your ship¦s onboard targetting computer so you just release and let them do their business.

cant confirm this, but i heared, they are limited to the locking range of the FoF spaming ships. So if someone would "jam" you by reducing your target range, than they wont go after the dampening ship.
But again i cant confirm this, just heared. But you can try it out cant you? _____________________________________ Dead or Alive

FOF's are going for anyone who targeted you and will hit every atrget in range. But will hit only ships that targeted you (as i know) ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

They only go after ships that are ACTIVELY committing a HOSTILE act on you. So if someone jamms you and you send your FoF theyll target him. The moment he stops jamming the FoF will stop going after him. (Except the ones already launched ofcourse)

Something I've been wondering about a while now, but forget to test it out... does a Passive Targeter negate FoF AI? ----------- Fighting for the ideals of freespace, posthuman ethics, and rock & roll. |

I dont think so, because the second the person using the passive targetter uses say a weapon (somthing that causes agression) the red box will apprear, and the fofs will have a target.

This is false, or a certain VOTF guy in a raven took my lil' scouting punisher out with a neat trick.
I was autopiloting through systems, scouting for ice, rocks, hostiles, etc., when I came out of warp 15k from the gate to the next system I was headed to. There sat the raven.

Victim: Raynaar Corporation: Intergalactic Mining And Trade Corp. Destroyed Type: Punisher Solar System: R3-K7K System Security Level: 0.0
Involved parties:
Name: Waywatcher (laid the final blow) Security Status: -1.9 Corporation: Vengeance of the Fallen Ship Type: Raven Weapon Type: Dragon F.O.F. Cruise Missile I
Destroyed items:
Type: Small Nosferatu I (Fitted - High slot)
Type: Prototype Cloaking Device I (Fitted - High slot)
Type: Warp Core Stabilizer I (Fitted - Low slot)
Type: 1MN MicroWarpdrive I (Fitted - Medium slot)
Type: Co-Processor II (Fitted - Low slot)
Type: Co-Processor II (Fitted - Low slot)
Type: Dual Light Pulse Laser I (Fitted - High slot)
Type: Multifrequency S (Fitted - High slot) Quantity: 1
FOR THE RECORD: I never committed a hostile act. The ONLY two things that happened on my ship after coming out of warp and seeing the raven were: (1) me activating mwd (which got me to the gate in maybe 3 seconds where I jumped, waited a second in next system, then reappeared back in the previous system in a pod) .and. (2) my ship auto-targetting back the raven once he 1st got his lock
----------- Sooooooo, -----------
In thinking about this, I wonder if anyone has tested out the following:
1) What happens if I'm a raven pilot sitting at a gate loaded w/ fof cruise and watching local. If it's a chokepoint and there are only 2 gates in system and I'm at one of em, I see the guy pop up in local, I know he's prolly at the other gate about to warp to me. I don't recognize the name, so I pull up his bio and find out he's KOS. My question with regard to this scenario is this: If I immediately set a personal standing of -10 to the aforementioned KOS pilot while he's in warp on his way to me, when he drops outta warp on top of me (cuz i'm sittin on the 15k warp in point), can I fire FOF cruise at him without even target locking?
I've never tried doing it, cuz I just thought it up, but hey, who knows? Anyway, I'm rambling, and the only thing I wanted to point out is that your opponent does not have to commit an aggressive act towards you for your FOF's to be 'permitted' to fire, as is shown in the above kill mail.

p.s. To Waywatcher, this isn't me trying to yell 'no fair' about your kill. Good job on catchin a fast frigate. :)

Not true. We did some testing... fired on a corp mates scorp who then FoFed us. We then unlocked him, and his missiles still went for us. Then we warped out and back in, and his missiles still went for us. Then we jumped to another system and came back, and his missiles still went for us. Then HE jumped to another system and came back, and his missiles still went for us.
They go for the closest ship which has commited an agressive act "recently". We're not sure what the timer is but I assume its linked to the aggression timer so its like 15 minutes or something. +++
It's called "low security space" for a reason. |

I don't think that this is a factor, as I hadn't committed to any pvp at all that night. In fact, I hadn't committed a hostile act in any system for days before the encounter I described in my previous post....

To make the discussion a little bit more interesting ;)
We were doing a complex with 3 corp members. When we destroyed the last ships and went for the buildings one of them used a FoF by accident. It went straight for the other corp member.
So the only thing I can imagine is that it will hit the nearest target if nobody is locked. It doesnt go for building though. Seriously Have I Not Said How I Can Assist Some One You Are Killing Online? |

They go for anything hitable as long as they are moving, this includes deadspace structures. ____________________________________________________

I think they are called friend or foe missles for a reason.
