Hi,
Does anyone have any experience using this product with eve? I have been thinking about getting one and if someone uses one with eve im wondering what they think.
Is the thing configurable to the point where i could use a button for TS and then other buttons to fire off 1 or multiple mods on one button? Is loading and making the settings for different ships easy?
The thing looks really nice but i dont think i would want to use it for anything other than eve. In FPS games i much prefer a keyboard. ______________

Not with Eve yet, but i use the pad with FPS.

I must say i was surprised with its high configurability using it with the FPS. although it takes some time to set up the keys the way you like them.
There are various options that will allow you to set up the pad in many different ways at the same time. You can use the keys on the pad 4 times using the red-green-blue mode, adding it up to 14 (keys) x 4 (modes: normal, red, green, blue) = 56 keys to program. Excluding the joystick panel, the space key and the scroll wheel.

Nostromo's are one of the best gaming devices around. For FPS, there's not much more you can ask for. You can bind the keys on the nostromo to keys on the keyboard so the default controls never change. It does take some getting used to, but well worth it, IMHO...YMMV, of course.
As far as using one for playing eve, I haven't tried it. Mainly because I'm too lazy. I can see how the macro function would help out with binding multiple keys or functions to one button. And yes, you can bind one of the keys to use for TS.

I've used a Nostromo N52 in EVE since it first became available. It's been immeasurably helpful in any ingame endeavor.
And, yes...it's fully configurable for any and all functions ingame.

I don't use the Nostromo, but I do use the Strategic Commander of MS.
The compatibility with Windows and the ease to program the buttonmacro's is much better.
Though it's not suitable for FPS.

Here's what I use:
Backlit Gamer's Keyboard
You can program it any way you want with up to 27 keys (9 on the pad and 3 modes). Plus since it's backlit, it not only looks cool but functions well at night with lights off/dimmed. Can program multiple keystrokes on each button if that is your desire.

Yes Siddy, the Nostromo was the main ship in ALIEN.

Ive owned everyone :D
Strategic COmmander, Nostromo n45 (50?) & the n52 also a HET Evomouse :D
& basically the Nostromos are awesome. I object to the orange button on the n52 & the thumb shape but thats cause of my hands. From a technical viewpoint its UBER with a capital U. Ive used them for Il-2 to Ravenshield (Mmmmm two mouse wheels :)). The only thing id say is that it could use more buttons but I think 68 different buttons & three direction pads (which can be used as four different buttons so 12 more). covers everything pretty well :D The perversity of the Universe tends towards a maximum - O'Toole's Corollary of Finagle's Law |

I have one too . . . I want to set it back up.
My only complaint is that the thing is too damned big. I don't have particuarly small hands but the thing would be better if it were about 25% smaller.

Been using one for ages, would highly recomend them to anyone thinking about them.
Easy to set up for your own setup, only use about half the options on mine, plent space left for future expansion.
Stupid not to buy one at their price

Yep, works a treat. I just use it for single key presses tho - wouldn't want to get pinched by any macro detection code.... -- We are the Octavian Vanguard www.octavianvanguard.net http://www.serenitymovie.com |

I think it was around the early '90's I purchased a VersaPOS keyboard and its brilliant. I cant praise it enough.
Using your favorite graphics program print up your key layout on A4 paper, slip the paper under the transparent touch sensitive membrane and program the keys.
Just swap your key layouts as needed depending on what you're doing and press a single key to load the new keys for the layout you're using.
