Green Bay Packers prevail in a legendary contest. Pittsburgh Squeelers go home crying, after clawing back from an 18 point deficit.
Big Ben throws too many picks, and their defense can't save them. Aaron Rodgers takes the MVP with 3 TDs and no turnovers.
NFL shows the world what REAL football is.
That is all.
Oh, and the Black Eyed Peas sucked donkey ****. Next time, dust off Tom Petty and have a real show, not that MTV ****.

LOL @ Rugby.
Who took the championship this year, anyway? Was it the Lower Bockhampton Sheepshaggers in a nailbiter this time? Unfortunately, my cable package doesn't carry ESPN 8 'The Ocho' - and besides, I'd have hated to miss my soaps.

We lol @ american football, mostly because there is more armour on the field than out in the middle east due to cut backs. Thankfully it's pretty much a non event here in the UK.

Rugby is contact sport. American Football is a collision sport.
BIG difference.
Rugby players wouldn't survive 30 minutes playing American-rules football without 'armour'. Nobody would.
There is a reason that 90% of NFL players retire in their early 30s. Athletic competition is too intense, and the wear and tear on muscle and bone (after only 16-20 games a year, I might add...) is incredible. But that is what makes it exciting to watch, while rugby is a quaint sport for hobbyists.

1) Don't care to watch a game that takes 5 minutes to try and move the ball forwards 10 yards and requires the whole team to swap on and off depending on if in offence or defence...
2) It is NOT football. < 1% of the game requires the use of the foot on the ball. Should be NTL for THROWING...
3) Watch AFL sometime - no padding, unlike the "REAL" football wimps.... (and I will even admit calling AFL football is a streach compared to soccer (as it it called in Australia)).

Play both and then make that comment.
As a rugby winger, I'd take some knocks and playing weekside defense againts a 300 pound and all muscle Samoan was always a load of fun, but
the difference is the "wrap" rule and the frequency of making a full speed hit against a stationary player which also rarely happens ...

If one breaks away from the emotional and the subjective, its pretty clear that American football is the far superior sport.
I will concede that there are more soccer fans worldwide, currently. However, soccer's fanbase is inflated primarily due to widespread participation in the third world.
Soccer's simplistic strategy and low overhead has strong appeal in such places. Europeans are reduced to whining about hands and feet and semantics, while the inescapable fact remains: That soccer is an incredibly homogenous, shallow experience.
Seriously, there is a much better 'version' of soccer already out there. Its called ice hockey. Same simple strategy, but faster and fights too. Again, never caught on in the third world due to high barrier of entry and lack of ice.
The NFL takes full advantage of a wide variety of racial body types and athletic skills. Players with widely divergent roles must work together seamlessly. Strategy is complex. Coaches play an active role in the strategy and end result of the game, rather than merely being glorified cheerleaders and scapegoats. Most neophytes who complain about American football 'not making sense' do so only from a position of ignorance - as they have no idea what is occurring on the field.
Finally, Europeans primarily are interested in soccer, because it gives them an outlet for their senseless nationalistic, violent tendencies. Most are so busy floating their livers and shouting racial epithets at opposing players, they hardly have time to notice how dull soccer is. I mean, witness: Serbia and Italy didn't even get 3 minutes into the game because the fans were too busy rioting, burning flags and throwing flares on the field. Americans, on the other hand, have a bit more class.

Eh ...
Another OPE thread ...
Each Culture thinks they are better than everyone else ...
Ha! Ha! People making fun of each others games!! Ha! Ha!
When I was in Junior High in Louisiana and in ROTC in California - we played American Rules Tackle Football without helmets or pads. But then ... we were 150 lb teenagers ...
Originally - American Rules Football Players - did NOT wear helmets and pads. Then ... because so many were getting killed doing that ... they started wearing helmets and pads.
They still have a terrible problem with concussions ... not to mention all kinds of other injuries ... so apparently they aren't wearing good enough helmets and pads.
We have club teams here in the US that play Rugby and Soccer. I've seen a few games but not really knowing the rules from never playing myself ... it's hard to keep track of what's going on and ... I'm often confused by the penalties.
Community sports is ... a community thing. If you've got a big sports team in your area ... a lot of people enjoy going to the games, drinking, eating and rooting for their team ... (rooting ... may mean different things in different cultures ... here it means cheering on ...).
It's just a form of fun.
I mean ... how much difference does it really make what sport you play?
You get out and run around ... get some exercise ... vent your aggressions in a semi-controlled environment ... *shrug*.
But ... people like to think that whatever they're doing is better than what someone else is doing ... you know ... like EVE and WoW ...
As I said ... pretty much every culture thinks that it is the best.
As to the game ... Steelers had a bad first half and couldn't recover it seems. I was tired and took a nap during half time and missed the second half.
*shrug*
At least now I know who won.

hopefully the first of many wins for Mr. Rodgers.
both teams deserved to make it to this game and if those two teams played against each other 100 times, i bet each team would tally roughly 50 wins/50loses.
it was every bit as close as i had hoped for.... i just could not have asked for a better game.

What a pointless arguement.
Rugby and American Football have different contact rules. And different players...
Sorry, rugby does not have 90% of their players in the 230-350lb weight range, that has stupidly quick acceleration and top speed to delivery all that solid, unsquishy like mass to an object that is also moving very fast.
Anyone that really believes they would take an unpadded hit from a 250lb solid mass linebacker moving at athletic quick speed is a biased, nonsense moron that deserves to take the shot so they get the sense knocked into them.. get some rl experince instead of talking out of ass.
