Ok, just bought a toon with -5.88 sec status. It was in a high sec area, as soon as i undocked, instapod. Being red flagged, i can't even move about in low or null sec without bring a glaring target. I am trying to get the sec status fixed, but can't hunt in highsec, ganked within 4j into lowsec, even pod running trying to get back into a quiter area. Any thoughts? __________________________________________

have a friend or an alt with a jump freighter find a quiet area of lowsec with a lot of belts have friend/alt jump a ship out to said system rat. a lot.
or, join a nullsec corp and use their space to rat in similarly. --

doing it wrong.
you kill the biggest rat you can find in the system and you move on to the next one.
killing lots of rats in the same system doesn't do anything for your sec status.
get a tech 3 ship, interdiction/cloak fit it, go hunting. only stop in absolutely empty systems to kill.
if OP can afford to buy characters he can afford a tech 3.
And as long as you dont screw yourself by not paying attention to local, you are virtually invincible to player interference.

Get yourself a stealth bomber, and run around killing battlecruiser + battleship rats, one rat per system per 20 minutes (the biggest one counts, so if you already got a battlecruiser and stumble upon a battleship, kill that as well). Stay aligned to a celestial at all times while killing.
Lowsec if you want to play it extra safe, nullsec if you want it to be quick. No need to join an alliance, as long as you arent ratting in their home systems where they got gazillions of people, chances are they will hide from you and not vice versa.

He seems a bit inexperienced, based on him not surviving even lowsec, so a stealth bomber might be more forgiving on his wallet while he is learning the ropes. It should be a good ship for this purpose and all the gear in the world isn't going to save his ass, if he isn't experienced enough player to take advantage of it.

There is no reason you shouldn't be able to move safely around hi sec space in a ceptor.

You won't be able to fly any ships in any high sec systems.
Best option is to just warp to 0 in your pod all the way to a very quiet low sec system with only 1 NPC station in it. That will just about insure the population count of the system to be very low or none at all. Probably best if you have someone you can trust and know in game buy the equipment you need in high security and bring the items to you in a cloaked Blockade Runner.
You'll get a security status increase for the single most highest bounty NPC belt rat killed every 20 to 30 minutes. Best option is to have a few systems interconnected and do a round robin between them. The timer will reset to 0 with each session change of jumping into a new system. Then you won't have to wait on the timer.
There's some URL/guide links in the Faction Standing Repair Plan about fixing bad security status and about surviving in low security.
Good luck to you.

You can, as long as it's a frig hull and you are swift in jumping. The faction police will attack you if you hang around. The higher the sec rating, the quicker the response. If you do get caught on undock, they only web you to begin with, so it's fairly easy to escape.
Tip - when you jump into a system, click the right mouse in space to bring up the menu, as the system begins to load, you will lock that menu in place. Hover the pointer over the destination above\below the one you want. Once the system has loaded a bit, you will be able to select the option you want. Once you get usde to doing this, you can select your next destination before the system even loads..
As an example, one of my chars is -6 and I popped to jita over the weekend to buy and fit a manticore. I got it back to low sec without incident
