I'm entirely for this idea. My job requires me to be on the move a lot. A lot of traveling which means I'm unable to log into the game and fill the skill queue.
I do have a smartphone which I do carry with me everywhere. It would be nice if I could just change skills on it instead of finding a computer.
I brought up this very idea in the AH forums.

I endorse this idea, would be nice to fiddle with not only skills but corp tab stuff while at work or times when I don't have access to the game. This would likely see me keep my sub alive even during big eve breaks.
Lets do this CCP.

Yes. Please do this so that the people with basic knowledge of scripting internet applications can get to work on their infini-queue application, where you just plug in your username and password, and it will auto-queue skills from now until the end of time.
Please?

Ok.. question.
If they are paying for the account, why is this a bad thing?

What part of my post said it would be a bad thing?

It's a great idea that has been put across millions of times before but CCP just ignore it.
There really is no difference if I log in to change my skill and log back out, than if I logged on EveGate and did it there.
However I think this may be one of those "Risk Vs Reward" CCP are always banging on about, the risk might be that you are logged off in dangerous space so for the 0.1% of Eve that might effect (bull**** statistic).
I only use EveGate to read corp/alliance emails whilst I am out etc, though skill queue integration would keep my sub active. When I know I am going to be unable to log on for a few weeks I let my account expire and don't resub it till I'm back. With a skill queue on EveGate I would keep it subbed as I could log on my phone and do it.

I don't know why CCP won't/hasn't implemented the ability to change skills to EvE Gate. I know they said it's to make sure people actually log into the game every now and then, but that's stupid.
Don't force us to do something if we really don't want or need to. If we want to play for a few hours, we will. If all we want is to change our queue, we'll log in and do it or not log in at all.
They're going about getting people to actually play the game in the wrong way. If they want people to play, they need to give us a real reason to. Something entertaining.
Not to say I don't play or that EvE isn't entertaining. I love it, personally. As I'm sure anybody who's been subscribed for a while does as well.
But please, this is a simple feature and it just makes lives for the players that much less complicated.
I'm at work or school. I see my queue is almost done. I won't be home for another couple hours. I JUST WANT TO CHANGE MY DAMN QUEUE WHY CAN'T I DO THIS THROUGH A BROWSER OR MY PHONE!?
If they implement this ever, I will be so happy. Sooo much time not lost not training.

afaik it does.
Chribba's right. Logging into the game means you are forced to play EVE for at least 30 seconds or so longer than logging into the EVE Gate site to update the skill queue. This is due to the screen fade heading into character selection and then into the game.
Statistically speaking, no doubt there are some people who log in to change skills but get distracted by a CTA or corp chat then continue to play for three hours instead of doing their homework. But that doesn't seem like a good reason for not allowing skill queueing via EVE Gate to me.

Why doesnĘt CPP just support infi queuing in game and not lock it to within 24 hours as long as you had a active subscription I guess this would please both parties

CCP should introduce plex for skill points right after this. You should also be able to buy plex from spacebook. Come to think of it, CCP can convert the client to a mud based web game. We only ever look on our spreadsheets anyways.
MUD client on spacebook pretty please!

You already got skill queue you know how long that took to get and how many whine posts there was about it? Which Iam very ****ed that was added because it ruined the need for dump skills(long skills you would use when your current one would end when your at work/sleep/etc). It was so nice using BS V as a dump skill then by the time you actually needed to train it it only had like 2 weeks left.

From a convenience point of view, I certainly wouldn't mind seeing this implemented.
However, from a security point of view, I'd rather not have this. As others have pointed out, there have been issues in the past, and I'd hate to risk others being able to mess around with actual in-game stuff such as the skillqueue.

For security issues: use 1 of those picture boxes to type what u see?
For the other issue whereby people would play less: allow the feature to be used only once a year (like remapping). This way u can still do an emergency change when on vacation, stationed overseas or traveling for work...but not to the point whereby space ends up empty with nobody to shoot at.

What is this EVE Gate thing you speak of?
No seriously. How many people actively use EVE Gate and find it useful?
At least OP's suggestion would encourage people to actually use the damn thing.

Originally by: mkmin I don't trust spacebook even a little bit. CCP keeps screwing it up from the time it was in beta. Last I checked SISI spacebook had all the privacy settings set to the default, completely disregarding your personal preferences. In beta CCP screwed it up so that anyone just had to browse to your character ID and see everything in your profile as though it was public. They've got the security standards of a homeless shelter, and I'd rather spacebook get abandoned as a bad idea while hiring people who know what they are doing and respect the customer to start over and make it not suck. I'm completely firmly anti-spacebook. I'd rather the features that are offered in spacebook be migrated AWAY from it and to something at least somewhat reliable.
Spacebook is crap. Hope it dies. Wish they wouldn't waste any more developer resources for something that deserves to die the worst kind of death.
Umm isn't kind of the whole point of Sisi and Beta testing to find out things just like the flaws you mentioned?
I would think that playing on a TEST server you might expect software to have error bugs and problems. It's what it exists for. To catch those glaring things that the developers weren't omniscient enough to think of before testing.
Of course that's just me.
