Sorry Dev Team if you think we are burning your hard work at moving forward with EVE.
Some things need to stay as they were to keep the awesome in EVE - these above being probably the most missed and visually attractive part of the game.
What good is flowing locks of hair in a bar in station if the core of the nature of what EVE is (or was) lacks the visual stimulus it once had. Yeah yeah server load etc etc, rendering the trails, understood, just FIX IT (somehow)
Seconded old cyno too!

Agreed. Although the cyno effect is mainly just boring and unimpressive, whereas the sebo/eccm ones are more of an "ARRRGH I WANT TO STAB MY EYES OUT!!!" varietyà ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

I agree completely, 'cept off course eye candy does not result in additional server load (if that's what you meant). ...

Which is why the trails got removed in any case. Last I've read is that looking into bringing them back is on the to-do list, but it's been a while.

Trail rendering is completely client side, and of course it will be an option that can be turned off. During any medium to large engagement everyone turns off all sound and effects, trails will just be one more added to the list.
I miss the cyno effect and trails too :(

CCP, I try to be a good little boy, both by paying my bill every month and by not complaining (much) when stuff gets screwed up.
Please, please, please bring back engine trails. Please. For me. Your little sweetie.
Thank you.

There was some random dev talk back a few months ago about the first full incarna release having a bunch of general graphics improvements. Guess we will see SoonÖ.

I miss engine trails too. In every expansion and update I hoping that they bring it back.
Without engine trails the ships some times feels like not moving while they are.
Engine trail is a way to show and feel that you moving fast or slow.
There should be different options for engine trails once its back:
1. Engine Trails for everything 2. Engine trails for ships but not drones 3. Engine trails only for capsule piloted ships 4. Engine trails on self only. 5. No engine trails.
Currently we have only option 5.

Engine trails have been proven not to have a sizable impact in the projected future sales of vampire related games.

The question is why did they go?
Maybe cos this is a computer program where things like trails and effects are programmable items that need CPU/GPU cycles to run and you guys keep on throwing your toys out the pram when you fight, because of the lag. One of the ways you combat the lag is to cut down on the CPU/GPU cycles....

Engine trails (and all other graphics) are handled client side and have NO IMPACT ON SERVER LAG, YOU MORON!
Give me engine trails or give me death.

The trails were removed because they had a significant impact on client side performance when the engine was updated. CCP have said various times they would love to bring them back and that they were redoing the entire way they render to properly implement them into the game without causing severe FPS issues for players.
This from October 2010, so 'next expansion' would be this summers expansion.
Eurogamer Interview
Quote: Eurogamer: The same reader asked when engine trails are coming back - "Please!"?
Torfi Frans Olafsson: Hopefully next release. We are talking to the graphics programmers about it. But first we will be introducing turret graphics on all the ships.

Stuff waiting for an expansion.
They can just insert it in a patch, one of the client side patches they meter out every now and then

If you are lucky, you get notice CCP saying they will do it, but we can't ask "when". Then they will ignore everything about the subject the next coming years. Just like they did for capital cyno effects.
Good luck with the "now" thing though.

Returning engine trails is not the most important thing CCP should focus on, sport. Get off your high horse and look at the big picture.
