I was just looking at the incursion features page. I noticed on March 8th there is a scheduled patch that deals with Carbon Inventory. The description is as follows: An integrated series of inventory optimizations. Does anyone have any idea what that means?

Probably more options for clothes and decorations though the way its worded might mean they are improving performance of the character creater which isn't nice on low to medium hardware atm.

Not quite. This is server infrastructure stuff we're talking about here that we want to deploy in isolation from game feature code.

10x for confirming my intial assumptions
It's the next step to being able to differentiate BPCs and BPOs...
P.S. Much more than that, I guess, but anyway! Complete overhaul of old systems is a good sign for the future of EVE!

Indeed then the first step towards that goal was taken in the 64-bit Inventory Service in Tyrannis 1.2 and the second step will be in this infrastructure upgrade, Carbon Inventory "Phase 0" (the cleanup and hardening), in Incursion 1.3.

Yes, that should have been 15 February for Incursion 1.2 and has been corrected. The plan is to deploy Incursion 1.3 sometime in March if all goes well.

Will we actually notice anything on our end?

This upgrade is a foundation upgrade/refactoring to future-proof the code.

Furture proofing is basically an arbitary term where they just making it less obscure to handel it next time they have to deal with it. For example the concept of 0-10 is nearly future proofed once upon a time that concept replaced the concept of 1-60 which still exists in some systems today.

tbfh, can you just fix hybrids, and a few other glaring gameplay issues? no1 gives a hoot about your code upgrades. most people see incarna as sugarcoating.

Considering all the replies that are positive about Incarna and the upcoming Captains Quarters, your statement of 'most people' is very wrong. Those of us who have been looking forward to walking in stations for years are very excited to see it is finally becoming a reality.

I agree.
Im very happy about the upcoming WIS, it will bring new audiences and interests to Eve. More spread on the type of audiences can mean more players/ subscriptions and profit to CCP so they can maybe hire more devs?
As I seen in all MMOs, its typical to see ppl troll, rage, QQ and threaten ragequit in forum etc. Yet still see most of them ingame playing normally.
