Anyway, OP has a point, and there are fare more "useless" threads in here than this.
Imo there is no point in mailing "good kills" when get bursted in a sebo¦d interceptor (or else), when not having a chance to warp to save. Everyone of us knows how hard it is to catch a pod, and when the OP lost it as well he might do it wrong, or just beeing unlucky.
But, as always (or at least many times) you will meet your offender again, and this time the odds may be on your side. Don¦t forget this and be patient. Time for revenge will come and it¦s up to you to be prepared.

Edited by: Asp IV on 14/02/2011 12:54:15 Well it's a known neutralization technique to grovel in your own losses or try to act cheerful towards an opponent that just beat you to hell and back. It's very common among animals.
In fencing. "nice point, when opponent expertly catches you off guard and hit your chest with a well timed lunge"
However if shooting fish in a barrel eve-style results in a smiley sent by mail you're way off.
How to handle ship loss in eve: RESHIP. GF/GG/ Propaganda is a soft weapon; hold it in your hands too long, and it will move about like a snake, and strike the other way.

Nothing to be sorry about sport, we all enjoy a little bit of stealth trolling from time to time. In your case it was blatantly obvious though.

From my experience it is the new players between 1 day old up to 3 months old that realy ignite when they loose there ship.
I call it V-time "vulnerble time"
It is in this time frame they strugle with any loss simply because there Isk making are not in gear yet...
90% of the fan mail i recive are from players within the 3 month time frame.
My 3 cents

I think I can agree with that... I take ship losses with little more than a shrug now days. But I seem to remember it bothering me a lot more years ago when I was still fairly new to the game.

Yes you're right. If lose something I can replace easily (like the OP) I don't really care either, but for example for people who saved for months to buy their Hulk and have no means to replace it within a few weeks it's very very hard, hence the emotional outburst. ________________* - If you're in favour of a bloodline change please vote in the Assembly Hall in this thread - |

Thanks for finding this. I think being called "no-name player" from someone with an adjective for a name somehow waters down the insult. At least this proves I wss not trolling.

Why is everyone saying the OP is being arrogant reminding the many, many new players that nerdraging when their little cruiser gets popped will make people laugh at them?
It's true, and it's good advice, arrogant or not.

Meh if a pirate wants to pirate you, then who's to stop a butthurt from butthurting you? Either way both parties get what they want, so what's the harm?
Loss is inevitable, but it's arrogant to assume everyone should take it the same way in a sandbox game.

Being buthurt is useless indeed, and raging at your killer is stupid. However congratulating someone for killing a noobie also seems kinda weird to me.

The OP was obviously stealth trolling and I called him up on it. Of course he wouldn't confess to it, I wouldn't expect anyone to be honest about it on the Internet, but I still know the truth.
I don't think your silly remark adds to this discussion though so refrain from sharing them in the future.

you have to take losses
hell last year i lost a orca (fitted) which contained my 2 hulks (also fitted) and a raven plus someone else who was flying cover.
total lost was a lot for me at 1.2b isk..
only took 2 months of working to get isk back for ships and refit them out. was just unlucky

Oh, but the bargains there are worth it! And I never get caught! Well....until recently...

So I was podded by a member of the New Eden equivalent of a Forbes 100 company, and mentioned on his blog too? Things are looking up! And if you read his blog like I did, you'll see I handled my situation a lot better than the other twits who raged and screamed at him.
The point of my post in the first place.

Talk about taking losses, I had an all T2 fit Cyclone (just love these things) with a deadspace module get primaried by 20+ Sansha battleships during a pre-incursion incursion and rumor has it that the GMs direct the fire.
If that's true then I can say that my greatest loss was being ganked by CCP.
(of course I just had to fly in under the FCORD banner with no support - might as well AP through Amamake myself)

Edited by: Pehk Mak''mel''ahma on 16/02/2011 08:00:07 You handled yourself well, Red, but remember this is EVE Online. Looking for good sportsman-ship here is like searching for snowballs in hell.
Still, while you lost your ship and your pod, you may have denied "The Lukka" the tears he wanted. For someone "in pursuit of mathematically optimal ways to ruin peoples' day", that was probably as important to him as a killboard mark.
