Badly managed alliance, internal command fighting, missed deadlines, someone had lost a jump frieghter, our system got raided by a blob and we lost tons of hardware, our supply chain was broken, the promises were collapsing, you get the picture.
I log in and I'm in the middle of a huge fleet of blues. What a fun and comfortable feeling. I start to sort through the sudden rash of emails that had infected my inbox. The intel channel is flashing, but I am a mining cargo pilot, what do I care, I'm in a fleet of blues in my Hoarder.
I notice my CEO just logged off.
Wait.
Everybody is now red.
"UM, guys, why is everybody red?"
The chat channel is full of colorful replies, and I am targeted by almost everybody at once. I grab my headset and get on the corp channel. Nobody is home.
Crap.
I switch to the CEO channel where I can hear all the CEOs (other than my own) talking about how we have just been booted from the alliance.
I hit the intel channel, which for reasons to this day I never understood how I was still in it, and there is a debate over if I should be killed on sight or not.
That fuzzy warm feeling was now LONG gone.
I cut in to the CEO voice comms, "Guys, did something happen?" Two other people start to talk over each other accusing our corp as being a spy corp and our announcement to leave that had been posted on the Eve Forum gave the enemy intel to attack us. (sidenote, the attack happened a day BEFORE my CEO's post, but don't let that logical failure cloud the story).
I was webbed, I was scrammed, people were ready to fire on me. My ship held 50% of my assets. The other 50% were in a nearby station which I would later discover I had no access to anymore.
A voice came over the comm system. An old sounding voice that I am sure belonged to a grandfather. "Let him go." All the locks on my ship dropped and I made a run for it. I was kicked from voice comms.
I raced to the nearby station to get the rest of my stuff, but I was forbidden to get it. Double Crap! I turn around and raced for high sec.
I was through he first gate on my panicked exodus and flying through our bubbles when local filled with a half dozen of my now ex-alliance mates. In local the words popped up. "Boss says you get five minutes and then we can kill you."
For the next three hours I ran my afterburners off to get back in to high sec. Looking back I'm sure those guys never did follow me, but I wasn't about to hang around and find out. I popped through a couple gate camps that we too busy with the poor souls that were just ahead of me (probably thinking I was hunting them) before I finally popped in to a 0.5 system.
Half my crap was locked up (I would later recover it when I found I remembered I had a jump clone there) and I was in a corp that was branded a traitor. I was also new and didn't understand what the heck had just transpired.
I am about to log off when my CEO logs in. "Dude! WTF?"
He laughs, "Oh yeah. I apparently ticked them off with a feat of time travel. You'll want to get out of the system as quick as you can. We'll have to start over."
He was out a couple billion isk and I was out of patients. I logged off and left the game a month later. Now I am back with a better view of things. It is much better this time around.
