Edited by: Aderata Nonkin on 14/02/2011 09:44:28 I recently flew around in lowsec with a buddy of mine to see if we could hunt down some easy victims. Yes, we were bored. Turns out everyone flew away, scared to engage into combat with us, even though our ships were nothing to write home to mummy about.
My conclusion is, after spending several hours in lowsec, that people in general have grown soft and only flex their muscles in lowsec because "that's how it is". I feel sorry for you chickens.

They run away with their tails behind their legs, afraid of engaging in combat even though the terms are pretty much equal. We didn't hunt freighters or anything of the kind, we wanted a challenge and nobody was up for it. Only makes me believe that lowsec is for losers and I shan't go back there anytime soon.

Hi,
I'm relatively new to this game and the pvp, but on the weekend, I built a little Rifter and fly a whole day in low and nullsec, but I can't really figure out how to find targets. I used the on-board scanner and check belts, but found noone. Sometimes some1 flew in when I was doing a DED2. So how can you find targets for pvp?

My story is straight as an arrow bud, nothing wrong with it. We couldn't find a challenge nor could we find anyone easy to kill because they all ran away.
Maybe you're one of these chickens that scuttled along and now end up feeling hurt by the truth? In that case I suggest you stick to highsec where you belong. Nothing wrong with that and you shouldn't feel to ashamed of it. But you're still a carebear.

That's because there aren't any. They all hang out in nullsec being arrogant. As soon as they hit lowsec they become scared cats and scurry away at the first sight of engagement.

Not scared, paying attention to avoid being ganked. It is not possible to know the kind of ships that will attack, so unless prepared - it is always advisable to run or hide.
It is also common practice for scouts to tackle first - swiftly followed by a mini blob. Which is why people rarely engage unless they are acting as bait with a counter blob in reserve.
Being cautious and sensible does not equal afraid. If they were afraid, they would not be in low sec now would they?

You are obviously the soft one and chicken****. Looking for soft targets, yet failing completely to find one (let alone manage to tackle one).
You thought you could flex YOUR muscle against an unsuspecting victim - and failed. If you stayed around long enough I daresay you would of been baited and popped....

Maybe if you actually lived in low sec (as opposed to dipping your toe in occasionally before running back to empire) you'd realise why people who live there are so skittish - solo or small gang (1-5 people) PvP is very rare - everyone has backup a jump or two away, people scout, people set up traps and one or two people arriving in a system will be seen as tacklers or scouts for a blob that's waiting to jump into the system.
Low sec is more dangerous to live in than nullsec - there are no borders or controls and roaming gangs move quick. Those who live there have to react quickly to any threat as 9 times out of 10, it'll turn into a blob that will take a few hours of navigating a hauler through gate camps to recover from... they also learn to pick their fights very carefully, on their terms, not yours.
If you really want to find PvP in lowsec then go solo in Placid and track down your targets... you know, use your intelligence, use the directional scanner & probes and WORK for your kills instead of taking the lazy approach and expecting everything to be handed to you, pre bound, on a platter... or try calling the locals chickens & despicable scum and see how long you last
Also, post with your main... or are you a chicken? |

I entered lowsec fully prepared to engage in combat and expecting to lose my ship. That would be fine with me. Sure, people might put the occasional trap or call on their buddies (which someone actually did at one point, lol) but that doesn't diminish my experience of lowsec as a tired, quiet area where nobody does anything of value.
Based on what I've seen I wouldn't hesitate to move into lowsec, take my family and pets with me, and live there happily ever after.

I seriously doubt that. It has become the breeding ground for funfair carebears who like to strike their e-peen against the wind and think they're tough guys.

Simple fact of the matter is that you admit that you live in empire, not low sec - you don't have enough experience of low sec and therefore don't know what you're talking about. People here are trying to tell you what the reality is (i.e. when you stay there for more than a day) but you're taking the approach of sticking your fingers in your ears and shouting "I substitute reality for my own!"
Live in low sec for a while (like I said, I'd recommend Placid) and then by all mean come back and complain about all the "carebears roaming free in lowsec"... just make sure that you do it on your main though as we'd like to be able to see how many kills/losses that you get from the "carebears" living there |

I don't think my post was an inconsistency as much as maybe I wasn't clear enough on the subject. We went into lowsec to find "easy victims" to kill but there was none to find as they probably don't hang out in lowsec for various reasons.
We therefore went on to find us some challenges and there were none of that either, mainly because they ran away at the first sight of us coming. Thus leading me to think lowsec is void of anything worthy of my time.

Sorry about that, I must have been a little too fast on the quote finger. This laptop is a bit annoying to write on (Dell Latitude) as well; if your hands come too close to the pad, text switch places and/or disappear altogether. I'm sure I wanted to quote you and not myself in that particular situation.
Quote: Live in low sec for a while (like I said, I'd recommend Placid) and then by all mean come back and complain about all the "carebears roaming free in lowsec"...
Oh, you can count on that. This wasn't the first time I did an excursion into lowsec, even though that's what you might think, and the results have been the same every time.
Thanks to creating this thread I seem to have got a few areas I'm going to try out. I doubt it'd be any different but at least there's hope.
Quote: just make sure that you do it on your main though as we'd like to be able to see how many kills/losses that you get from the "carebears" living there
You have probably found out already that this particular character wouldn't be able to hurt a space flee so I don't think it would be appropriate to do anything fancy. My main however is good enough to cause problems for most wannabe-tough guys in lowsec. In any case I wouldn't be traversing there alone.

Must have been many years ago in that case. I used to remember lowsec as a free-for-all wild west. These days it's the middle ground for people who are too afraid of null but don't want to admit they reside in highsec.
