Are you seriously saying that the botters are not funding those massive cap fleets which include titans with their illegal isk?
Seriously?!

That's an interesting exploit.
Also, many wormhole corps got very wealthy from the range bug that allowed them to farm sleepers at impossible ranges.
I'll toss in another one -- hundreds of autopilotting L4 hauling bots to grind up LP all day. Those things are obscene and obvious.
Just sit outside any L4 manufacturing agent's station and watch the flow of Bestowers.

I think its usually alliances that purchase Titans. At least combat titans.
And Chribba, but he's just a collector.

Mostly this. Only alliances can afford to actually use them in combat ops due to the massive amount of isk even an honest non botting and exploit using corp can generate. Solo owners might log them in to make some screenshots of them for e-peening but rarely ever actually use them unless its under a pos shield giving out bonuses like in amamake for the pirates or jumping a bs gang with the bridge for smaller greifer corps with a bit of isk. As far as the average eve player is concerned they will never be able to afford one let alone use it in any meaningful way.

Bah we sure don't do it just for the e-peen! There's also mining involved (or for me at least )

I do believe that falls under the 'taking a screenshot for e-peening' thank you very much filed in the 'oh look I mine with titans!' catagory.

Back in the day, when ignorance still existed, Titan pilots would be in everyone's address book.
Them logging in created a stir, something to do. We knew roughly where they were.
Location agents work be put into action
Plans formulated
Fleets created or dispersed
Now days, nothing.
No one appears to care.
12 down in one fight and the sinking feeling that it is about as meaningful as a lost cyno kessie

Well when you can afk your way to a titan in a few days 'work' why would they be any more meaningful a loss than a cyno kessie?

CCP Games just lost the last sliver of credibility that it has left with me. It was your GMs that banned RAs leadership including their titan pilots _because_ they rented space out to macro miners! But just keep working on widening the gap between you and the player base. I'm quite sure that will end well in the long run.

Chribba, miners everywhere should be both honored and insulted by that photo you linked. For realz.
Sure you had 4 titans mining veld, and that's cool. But you also had your fleet set up with no bonuses... ???
That's just a slap in the face of all things sacred to true miners. Might I suggest getting a different e-peen mining photo which does not highlight a lack of respect for mining protocol.
Unless of course you intended that photo to show no bonuses. At which point I say, "Bravo, you arrogant son of a gun."

He had his rorq at the pos. Notice the bit of space on the fleet window that is hiding the other member of the gang and the obvious number 5 on the fleet tab?
edit; doh. didn't notice the broken chain of command in the window. Good catch.

Botting is on topic. Many supers are built from refined alloys acquired by bots, and bots are how many people accumulate wealth to purchase supers.

On related note, I'm curious what is the weekly income of major 0.0 alliances? both from moon goo and renters
It's something between 20-100 billion a week, no?

Yah, from what I recall it was present in teh game for a long time before someone went public on a third party website and at that point all hell broke loose.
The usual stuff... people accusing CCP of not dealing with it blah de blah.
Then it was plugged, the "magic" resources were no longer flowing into the market and T2 prices affected by this bit of moon goo went up.
Then people moaned about T2 prices going up.

The moon goo out of nothing was reported to the GM's and it was going on for 2 years. There several insert dozen 100s POSes that were setup specifically to do that for all that time and CCP knew about it.
Not really surprising their current stance on bots is as it is. RMT is problem so insted of chasing them down they invent their RMT mechanizm so they get a cut.
Why they don't just take that part out of the EULA introduce automation systems interface allow the players to save the scripts as a tradeble item and allow the better ones to be sold and copied.
Hell you can even introduce this as a new skill tree. with skill opening the different areas of the gameplay that can be automated. Pod |

Why is discussing botting as a the method for affording titans deemed delete-worthy? It's legit, so what's the big deal.

Edited by: Skareon on 18/02/2011 13:29:36 I think it's pretty funny that CCP has had to squelch this topic of bot flaming posts TWICE NOW. Even making two total declarations of such actions.
To be honest, when I read the topic title my first thought was "well that's easy, BOTs"
well. Now that I see CCP does not condone any posts against bots on any threads except for 1 thread in the entire forums... I guess I have no choice but to give another solution.
How to afford a Titan legitimately and completely on your own?
Work hard for it and never spend any isk. After 6-12 months (depending on your current isk situation) you should have enough iskies to buy one. Working hard for it is really the "honest" answer.
All other means of acquiring a titan involve some sort of ill activities.
notes: hard working includes: playing this game 24/7...mining, farming plexes, roaming for officers, manufacturing like a boss, etc. there's honestly no "short-cut" to getting a titan through honest means. (heck, even if you got super lucky and found the most rare officer module possible, that's still only worth 17bill, so you're still 30 bill short).
