Hey ppl..i just moved into a c4 with my new corp mates, and i have a veeery hard time deciding what ship should i train for. I currently fly a passive Rattlesnake there, but i know it wont do very good.
Fact is, i'm just 4 days away from proteus, and 25 from tengu.
We will always do a at least 3 members gang for sites in C4 , so i'm asking you....should i go for proteus, or take the long way to Tengu?

Edited by: Raid''En on 17/02/2011 12:39:20 depend of what the others guys fly. tengu is better, but if your friends are all using armor, may be better to go for proteus. so you'll be able to use RR modules if your friends use shield tanking go for tengu without hesitation. ---------------- ** Wormhole Trading ** |

mostly legions , but we don't use RR's ... Not sure why, but that's how they rolled before, they used to do only with 2 legions.
Now me and my friend joined, he already has legion, and training for tengu on his other account, and me, on my other account im training for legion.
But since we won't use RR's, don't think it matters .
Anyways..i looked at some proteus fits, played in EFT .... it kindah sucks...so i'll just stick to Tengu, even if it takes longer

Edited by: Daneel Trevize on 17/02/2011 14:12:02 If they're local tanking, they're likely pimped a bit. This makes rebuilding them awkward if you go in a RR role, as I don't think you can local tank and RR them without some support in return. Even then you're gimping the legions to fit them to rep you though they free some low from tank for spank. The tengu fits in much easier. Why not train a legion though, you must have the shared armour and gunnary skills? |

Proteus is just not an option in C4. It needs MWD, so its barely if not at all cap stable and will die in a fire when it's neuted. AFAIK Proteus is only useful against sleepers in C5 possibly, as a heavy buffer tank with capital rr. Basically, as a PvE ship the Proteus is bottom of the T3 league.
I did some Sisi testing when sleeper neuting was re-added, and was able to solo a Frontier Barracks in a T2-fitted Tengu. Took a while ofc
Neuting is the primary issue, and you need at least 65% cap stability.

Legion takes 6 more days only to train ( than tengu ) , + 0 skills for lasers , and since i don't even want to wait for tengu...it makes it be my last choice...i'm really in a dead end...training navigation to V now...and in 3 days i will have to make a decision.
I managed do make a dual MAR proteus fit that can pull up to 900+ def, but with some big pimpin' ... and i like the idea of this, because i trained before for drones..i have drone interfacing V, and stuff like that...and the proteus would enable me to use drones , even if ppl say they suck in WH...i used them without any problems until now .. u just have to look after them.
Anyway ... i'm not looking for a ship that can solo sites in C4 ... at least not for now ... but, as a long term investment , Tengu is my choice ...
Thanks a lot guys for the info, and advice.
Fly safe!!
