Hi everyone,
Soon I will have the opportunity to have a laptop provided to me from my work place; it will have the Radeon HD 5650 1Gb.
Does anyone play eve using the same graphics card? How does it run eve?
I have had a look and in terms of numbers itĘs a large improvement over my 8400M GS which can hardly play eve on low settings.
Any feed back would be great!

Overheating will be your biggest concern, and is why 'gaming laptops' are fundamentally flawed. Well, that and not being able to easily swap parts in and out.
But you can't lose if it's free.

Just wanted to check if eve would be ok on it! Most important question of them all !

I play on med-high at about 1800x1080 with a i5-540M and 5650M with 2XAA and get 60fps.
Things like post-processing and HDR are unnecessary.
5650M is a perfectly capable card on medium resolutions. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

Sounds good to me, on my current laptop eve is on the lowest settings and still has input/output lag, its so bad I haven't really played eve much.
But to have it running at 60FPS WITH 2XAA sounds great to me! Have to wait until April for my new one to arrive
Thanks for checking that out for me |

Video card sounds fine. And since it is a late-model unit, the CPU should be fine. But the RAM(memory) is where [sometimes] laptops fall short. Pay attention to how much RAM is being used with one or more characters running.
Oh, and since that is a work laptop, make sure that your employer doesn't mind personal-use software being installed on the machine. For many reasons, some employers do not look kindly upon non-work software installations... or that software creating non-work traffic on their network.

I have lost several jobs this way, but let's hear it for unemployment
I think the next time you make one of these bad threads on this character, or any alt, you will be having a nice vacation to help work on making better threads.
CCP finally acknowled |

Thanks for the tips; thankfully I am like the mulder and scully of my work place, I work alone and in the basement And I get some nice extras such as being able to install anything I want on the laptops (but not the desktops) and play games (in my free time)

Cooling pads generally fix that problem. You have to get a good one though. I used to regularly have my laptop ice mining all day without heat problems, but I have a really good cooling pad. - - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring

This bit of advice sent my fps from 60 to 102. You made my life. Thank you.
