Not only has it become embarassing for a miner to hear the miner tears during Hulkageddon (hint, don't mine), it is now embarrasing to be a transport hauler as well.
So far there are 4 Transport ships down, 3 of them Cloaky Blockade Runners. One and only one so much as tanked a Shield. NONE had even one Warp Stabber on.
Yes, perfectly good Cloaky Runner, and not a shield...in Low Sec to boot.
Your fault. Stop embarrassing the profession.
Pathetic.
Between this laziness and the Botters, does anyone REALLY play EVE with any strategy at all ? Very few apparently.

And a 5th down, another Prorator.
Tanked with passive shields amazingly, but no Shield Booster which these ships get a freaking Bonus on.
And again not a warp stabber in sight. Again, in 0.4 system. Sigh

Prorator with shield boost bonus, hulkageddon in lowsec, catching blockade runners in lowsec.
Yes, this thread makes sense.... --------

Edited by: Furb Killer on 19/02/2011 22:01:53 Getting caught in low sec in blockade runner is usually pretty stupid, but please educate me, why would you possible want to fit an active shield tank on those blockade runners (or armor for gallente/amarr)? Yes i know they get some tiny bonus to repair amount, is there really any blockade runner in the history of eve who survived due to this bonus? I think it is reasonable to say when you are caught you die anyway.
Same pretty much for warpstabs, when they got you decloaked and locked (which is kinda needed for them to warp disrupt you) you most likely got so many points you arent going anywhere. Sure if a solo ceptors disrupts you the warpstabs help you, then again that solo ceptor gets alpha striked by gate guns in low sec. The logical thing to fit in your lows are either cargo expanders if you need more cargo space of nanofibers if you dont need more.
I recently got gallente industrial V, so also got transport ships skillbook, only for blockade runner. And guess what, i havent trained it further than lvl 1: It got plenty of CPU for fitting with lvl 1 and i really wasnt planning to active armor tank it.

Edited by: Koragoni SkyKnight on 19/02/2011 22:24:23 Edited by: Koragoni SkyKnight on 19/02/2011 22:23:26 Low Sec = Small Gangs usually, and if you're flying that blockade runner properly there is likely only one ship that can put a point on you before you vanish. In these cases, a single stab will send you right out of the field.
My Prorator aligns in 4 seconds, by the time the cloak engages and the ship starts moving the guys on the gate have less than 1 second of actual reaction time to lock it. And even then, without an interceptor to bump it, or a bubble to stop it, the thing is gone.
Those ships are almost as good at running as the Cov Ops frigate. Flown properly they simply can't be caught. This thread is dead on, learn to fit the ship, and learn to use it. These things are designed to penetrate bubble camps, and they can do so!
That said, all I fit is buffer. Tanks in a PvP situation just don't work.

Asking that question does not negate the fact the ship class has that bonus. It is not insignificant. Use it.
And, you cannot personally know that no transport ship has ever been saved by it's shield booster. Money says that many more than likely have, at least in High Sec. And I believe I was discussing some High Sec encounters here.
Also, Warp Stabs give one at least a fighting chance.
My point is that these pilots are not even trying.
Go ahead and BRAG about not having to train that Transport Ship Skill. You are deliberately losing out on that cargohold you do not need anyway I guess.

Furb is right, in empire it's cloak and cargo fit. The cloak is your tank. Some choose to fit istabs, but I've never used them.
Oh and fyi, training transport skill doesn't increase cargo space.

In todays pvp environment, an active tank boost is not only insignificant, it may as well not exist.
Transport skill gives a boost to cloak cpu use btw, not cargo capacity.

If you are tanking a Cloaky transport you are doing it wrong. The bonus is 100% useless. The cargo size is the t1 bonus, which you have at full to be able to fly the ship.
If you are stabbing one, you are doing it wrong. You should never be uncloaked long enough to get pointed.
I've blown through PF / FD 40 man bubble camps with my Viator. If I had tanked it, or stabbed it, I would've lost it.
Cloak and MWD. Bookmarks help, but bouncing off planets is always a good idea in 0.0 / low sec. Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

Flying a Blockade Runner without stabs is just...???
I mean, unless you don't have the skills to fit stabs...
Gives the legit Blockcade Runner pilots a bad name.

You keep talking about shield boosters. The Prorater is an Amarr ship, it gets no bonuses related to shields.
What it does have is the ability to fit Covert Ops cloaks. You say "it has the bonus, use it" and I think you'll find that most people flying these transports do infact use this bonus.
It does not have a shield bonus of any variety, so fitting it this way is just going to end badly.
And its other bonus is an armour repper bonus. Armour reppers do their thing at the /end/ of a cycle. Given that hulkageddon gank ships are designed to do their thing with a high alpha damage, the show is generally already over by the time that first repper cycle would have completed.

Edited by: Nova Fox on 19/02/2011 23:49:54 Shield booster on a transport that can barely support cap? Some pilots are making deiscisions though, kill enough cargo space that maybe a battleship would fare better in the spot or make several dozen trips safely or get it all done and hopefully not get caught at all in one trip. Its not like they're fitting hull reppers... are they?
I at least have a jammer on mine and an afterburner on a tier 1 for what little good that will do as in most cases ill never acheive lock in time even with perfect electronics. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 20JAN11

As an avid pilot of Viators and Occators, I have only ever once had a repair module on any of my setups. It was when I borrowed the ship from a corpmate and didn't bother to change his fit. Luckily every jump was high sec, though I was carrying quite a bit of valuable loot, so I still cloaked every time. The only two modules that have ever saved my T2 Haulers when I've jumped into a camp of some kind are the cloak, and the ECM burst. The only reason to ever use the burst is if I'm uncloaked, and it's highly unlikely it's going to save me. The armor/shield repair bonuses are almost worthless in any gank situation, and would only save you from t1 frigates, maybe.

Blockade runners are speed boats. The agility is amazing.
With Dominion adding 200ms of desync to jumping of gates it's near impossible to get caught.

Occators are cool with tractor beam and some buffer/resists in mids, it can pull convoy wrecks from under the nose of big NPC battleships. Normal haulers are likely to pop.

Edited by: Doctor Ungabungas on 20/02/2011 02:30:30 Putting WCS on a cloaky transport ship is just giving you the illusion of safety, because you're either in 0.0 and dodging bubbles or you're in low-sec and (assuming you have working fingers) can just cloak and warp.
PS: active tank pvp ships (which is what these are) erry day.

It is insignificant. I'll keep using 2 invulns on my Prowler, tyvm. It'll take no less than 3 battleships with full racks of the best officer smartbombs to pop it with those puppies active.

Stop embarassing yourself.
Passive resists, cloak, mwd, nanos/inertia. That's how you fit a blockade runner. With the change to blockade runners some time ago only the cloak changed, nothing else.

If the life of your blockade runner depends on your tank, its dead no matter what you have fit.
Blockade runners have two defenses: Stealth and speed. Get caught, you die. No amount of tank will change that.
