So, I have been training my drone skills up lately, mainly because I want to fly my Typhoon bether. Now I want to reward myself for following a strict skillplan and I want to buy myself a drone cruiser for some 0.0 pve action.
I was looking at the Ishtar first as I had heard many great things about the ship, can both armor and shield tank, solo most complexes etc. Then someone told me to get a Gila instead and I looked it up. The Gila looks very good too and I need some input on what the pros and cons are with the two different ship. Please dont bother with any skill related argument as I got very good skills for both of them.

Ishtar: can speed/sig/armor tank much better. Has the calibration to fit two SDAs, significantly increasing drone-only damage (and it has the lock range to take advantage of this). Built-in SDA helps with fitting. T2 resists favor Serp/Gur. In an armor fit, omnis are easier to squeeze on while maintaining a solid tank.
Gila: better omni passive shield tank do to resist bonus, but only at the cost of increased sig. Larger drone bay. Slightly easier to fit highs to increase non-drone damage. Hurt by short lock range and inability to fit two SDAs (but then you probably want space for purgers anyhow). Omnis compete with your tank.
Both have significant CPU issues so make sure you've maxed your skills (including drone rigging) to get the most out of either.

Thanks for the input, really appreciat it.
I plan to fly the ship mostly in angel space and since angels can deal any kind of damage I think I would feel safer in a good omni tank. Happened to me before that I get Therm and EM damage fired on me while I was tanking Exp and Kin and that hurt alot.
Also angels tend to come up close and personal so I think I might do fine with the shorter lockrange of the Gila.
What ship would you favour in my situation?

I think the Moa hull looks cute, like a dinosaur with a briefcase. Thanks for the input though, looks like you came to the same conclusion as I did.

Yup, Gila for Angels. Dealing with explosive you're going to be shield tanking either ship so you might as well pick the one with the resist bonus in the first place. And as you point out, Angels like to hug you, so the extra drone space for Valkyries in addition to your sentries on a Gila is welcome.
I'd look at some variation of this for missions:
[Gila, angels sda] Shield Power Relay II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Power Diagnostic System II Power Diagnostic System II
Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Omnidirectional Tracking Link I 10MN Afterburner II Explosion Dampening Field II Invulnerability Field II
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Havoc Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Havoc Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Havoc Heavy Missile [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Medium Sentry Damage Augmentor I Medium Core Defence Field Purger I Medium Core Defence Field Purger I
Bouncer II x5 Berserker II x5 Valkyrie II x5 Warrior II x5
Fits with drone rigging 4. Do as you will with the extra drone space. Nano is there to help speed tanking just a bit -- plus you've got to find something that doesn't use CPU so... yeah.

I was thinking to maybe drop the heavy launchers to standard missile launchers to be able to put on a tractor beam and a salvager. Keeping the drones on the bigger ships and picking of the frigates with my launchers. But I like the fit and will definitly try it out.
Thanks for your time Zhilia, I owe you one

I can't speak for level 4 missions, but I use the gila for fast level 3 missioning. I don't see much difference between the two ships, except the gila can field a great passive tank. Nearly the same in price last I checked and performance should be very similar. The missiles are a little more convenient since they work on everything including most frigates, but ishtar dps should be better (with sentry damage augmenters). For level 3 missions, a passive gila tank is more than adequate and this really is what sells me on the ship. I occasionally run into neut missions, but it doesn't phase the gila at all. The only change-outs I do are for sentry drones. I probably don't need to do that either since I rarely use the heavy drones. Sometimes I need to do level 2 missions too, gila can fly all of them while the ishtar gets blocks out of some of the missions.
So for my purposes gila has three advantages: great passive tank, can get into all the level 2 missions, and missiles work against almost everything I face. In addition to lower dps, the targeting range is a problem, I would like the extra kms that the ishtar gets.

gila....missiles give flexibility
you got a few choices with missiles:
AML Gila....great frigate killer while mediums play with cruisers and such. Once done, aml's some added dps to larger stuff. I liked AML. mediums kill big stuff while frigates are nice enough to come die to aml's. Seemed faster than waiting for light drones to get done dancing with elite frigates for them to die as well.
HAM Gila...decent frigate killing goodness, and better dps to cruisers and above. HAMs a pita to fit....eft for a good fit before buying to save headaches (even good fitting skills they are "fun").
HML Gila...all around good weapon (hits cruisers better than frigates but frigate killing isn't too bad push come to shove) and gives you the option to kite to max drone range avoiding optimals of larger harder hitting targets.
Hybrid boat....pack blasters, no long range. Pack rails and lose dps. Limits flexibility in my mind. Then you play ammo games as you close or move away from the target. Missiles...40m or 40km's is the same dps. If motivated to t2 them...I found you only need 2 ammos. Plain t1 and the high dps ones like furies for HML. Precision like ammo never thrilled me...ymmv.
