My understanding is that if you warp to a moon where is located a POS and the POS has weapons it will own you. Since the POS is located right at the warp in point and some guns have a range of up to 400km how do you safely warp to such a moon?
Also, am I safe if I go to a moon in a 0.4 system or higher? I read that guns can only be used in POS's in 0.3 or lower is that right? _____________________________________________ I am not an alt |

As far as i know, guns cam be used in every sec status.
Why don you just use a covert ops ship with a cloak and warp there under cloak! they guns wont shoot you if the cant see you!
My old toon had a pos in low sec, i always had the guns to shoot at anyone who came near it, this is an option you can change, im assuming its not the case in high sec as i would imagine concord would attack the pos if it fired on a neutral for no reason?
If anyone knows any different?

Even if the owner's put the tower at the 100km warpin to the moon from the planet, and/or has bubbles and cans/shuttles/****e-petitionable-spam to decloak you, you should be able to burn away and cloak again before the thing's locked you. Or just warp out. Most of the time the bubbles don't even get you from many angles, or the pos is just at 0km so you warp at 100km and you're miles off, or it's way below/above the plane you come in on. Try going from one owner's pos to another in the same system, they usually don't bubble this route either. |

Use your d-scanner, if there's a tower and a pile of junk obviously deployed to decloak you, then dont warp there. ---------- Who, me? |

Towers takes far to long to lock you with anything substancial.
In a BC you might get pinged by 2-3 small guns, but warp disrupters and medium/large guns aren't going to touch you unless you sit around like an idiot.
Anything smaller shouldn't even get hit with smalls ------------------------

I landed in an Large Warp Disruptor II bubble the other day, I was uncloaked, I burned to the edge, as I was dialing into the final warp, it said you've lost control of your ship ... it was sad, so I wish you could always just get away, I'd always done so before, but this time I just had awful luck!

I made an overview tab called Warpable, and it doesn't have moons on it as they are a risk. |

not every tower have a warp bubble on it. check your overview for bubble before warping, if there is no one you mostly safe to warp if you're not on a slow ship. ---------------- ** Wormhole Trading ** |

The question is not how to avoid moons with POSs, I know how to do that.
The question is how to safely warp to a moon, given that there may be an armed POS there; and secondly what systems can have armed POS's?

There isn't a way to warp to a moon with absolute certainty because with the default warp-to-zero or warp-to-100km, you will land on grid with it. You can avoid in-line bubbles and decloak cans usually by not warping from a gate or station (warp from a planet that's not in the same direction as a gate or station). What you might be able to do for future use is warp to 100km and drop a bookmark as you land, warp out immediately, warp to the bookmark at 100km and so on until you've made a bookmark that's no longer on grid with the tower.
I'm not sure how highsec POS guns work, but I'm pretty sure that people in highsec (= or < 0.7 sec) can anchor and use them to fend off war targets.
How does that work, anyhow? If your POS is incorrectly configured and shoots a neutral in highsec does Concord swoop in and pwn you are tower? |

That is a pretty interesting question. I was kind of worried about this because I was thinking what if I warp to a moon in, say, a 0.5 security system and there is a POS there. Can it blow me away? _____________________________________________ I am not an alt |

The "Attack if standing below XXX" is not available for a hi-sec tower at all. It can only attack war targets. ______________________________________________________ PVP is a question that has no one right answer but a lot of wrong ones. - Aelana Anais

iirc it may also attack if you have are flagged with an aggression timer (if that option is selected by the owner of the tower).
Overall, in highsec, if you are not at war with the corp that owns the tower and you don't have an aggression timer, the tower will just sit there.
In lowsec and null - use a cloaked ship and be smart about it, or alternatively just a fast frigate.

Wow...noone has said?....realy?
It takes 30-1min for PoS guns to lock onto you, so for escape reasons quickly warping to a moon is fine, as long as ur ongrid u can be shot as PoS's go up again caps dreads ect=long range _________________________________ Looking for cool pilots, check our advert |

Haven't tried it in years but it used to be safe to warp to any moon in your pod. The guns didn't fire on pods, only ships.

a POS will not shoot a pod on his own but if there is a POS gunner he might shoot you with the pos guns
ps: if you want you can shoot your own POS guns as well altho i don't recommend it

One of my corpies did that, can't remember why. Four hours later, he exitted the POS shield to anchor more guns. Seems the guns wanted revenge. They popped him.
Had to wait for downtime before the guns forgave him.

T1 ship with a cloak works too, just cloak up as soon as you drop out of warp (assuming there is no junk around to decloak you)
Prob the best way to avoid bubble traps would be to make a safespot then warp from the safespot, or probe down the pos and use the warpin from the scanner probes and warp in from a safespot.
