The quickest way to recover security status would be to take a nano-thrasher (or assault frigate if you can fly them) out to null security space and rip on some belt rats. Whenever you get and kill a battleship spawn, jump over one system. Rinse and repeat until your security status is over -2, at which point you can enter any highsec system again.

i just created a second petition about the warning message. so far the first has yet to be answered so i don't know if there is just a long waiting list or if CCP just doesn't care about the concerns of its paying members

Petitions always take a good while to get answered unfortunently. Stuck and billing petitions tend to be higher priority petitions than reimbursement and other game mechanics issues. As such it can sometimes take upwards of a week or more for your petition to get answered, if it is in a low priority category. _____ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. Yeah.
The Advantage of the Petition system is that it lets you contact CCP and voice your concerns.
The Disadvantage is that everybody and their brother does.
Which is like Unix ... but ... never mind ...

That ONE pod-kill gave me a -37.6632%. I went from i believe 0.01 to now -3.37.
Is that in any way normal?
A pod kill in 1.0 space? Definitely.

OK. Got a replay to my message and sorted how the Reset Panel works.
The question here was - did the OP turn off the warning?
In your ESC Menu there is a Reset Tab.
That tab brings up a three panel page allowing you to reset various settings.
On the left is one for resetting warnings.
If you tried to fire on say - a friendly NPC station - and got a "Proceed with this Dangerous Act?" warning - AND checked "Don't ask me again" - AND - Selected YES to fire on the station - THEN - you will get a reset button in the left panel for resetting the warnings about firing on a friendly npc.
If you got the warning message AND checked the "don't ask me again" message BUT - said NO and didn't fire on the NPC station - you will NOT have turned off the message and thus there will be no reset button for that function in the left panel.
Thus - if the OP had selected to turn off this message AND fired on something - there WOULD be a reset button in that panel under the ESC Menu's Reset Tab. Checking that panel for a reset button would show the OP if that function had been disabled. If the reset button is there - he turned it off (whether on purpose or not). If the reset button is NOT there - then he didn't turn it off.
Now there appear to be more than one type of warnings. The one I tested was against an NPC station - so the reset button had to do with shooting a friendly NPC. If I had shot at another player - I might have a slightly different warning and an different reset button.
I did not check the functionality for every possible warning the game gives - so while one works the way I tested it - there's no telling if the others work that way too - but - they probably do.
*shrug*
