Issue total: 10b Price per bond: 100m Interest rate (per month): 3%
When does this bond end? I don't plan on ever ending this bond offer, and if a bond is called (see "calling bond", below), I will make that amount available for reinvestment.
Calling a bond: You can call your bond, requesting principal repayment at any time. Please do so by BOTH replying to this thread AND evemailing me. Please allow up to 1 week for me to free up sufficient liquid for this.
Deth, what are you going to do with this ISK? Mostly station trade in Jita. I'll use some of it for collateralized loans, too. I might even put a dime or two towards a PvP boat now and again. What I do with the ISK isn't really of concern; you either trust I'll continue to pay 3%/month, or you don't.
Deth, audit? If somebody wants this, I'll ask Breaker77 to do one.

why does it make a difference whether it has a definite end or is a perpetuity?
The only good reason I can come up with is that you expect interest rates to rise - however, rates have been relatively stable over the past few years.

cool story, bro. Why dont you buy some bonds & let us all know how it goes. The guy's likely to buy some magic beans that boost his cool PvP ship, up the beanstalk. but who knows you may end up getting a cool pvp ship out of it too.
Few years? what was the last 3% bond that was filled?
Blocks cash reserve is a more solid investment than this guy & thats saying something, & they offer the same rate.

Yes, I offered to run a surety on Kalrand's bond.
That offer's been voided, as his offer's been voided.
I think you'll have to do better than that if you'd like to show I have problems fulfilling the terms of my bond offer.

what is your current debt amount?
does the person with whom you have said debt approve of your asking for more isk publically?
when do you plan on repaying this?
what is your NAV?
Why mention PvP ship in your first post? implying your going to fund a new carrier or the like.
Obviously what you do with the isk is a concern, if you plan to underwrite other bonds with it, it presents a significant risk to investors.

The current debt was made with the understanding that I would not limit my debt to just the private debt.
Originally by: Misty McGinnity when do you plan on repaying this?
Please read the OP.
Originally by: Misty McGinnity what is your NAV?
Somehwere in the neighborhood of 4b, I think. I don't worry about NAV much because mine varies frequently.
Originally by: Misty McGinnity Why mention PvP ship in your first post? implying your going to fund a new carrier or the like.
Implying that I don't plan on being careful to separate the "bond" ISK from my "normal" ISK - it's a fungible resource, and as such it is likely to float from my PvP toon to my trade alt and back as necessary.
Originally by: Misty McGinnity Obviously what you do with the isk is a concern, if you plan to underwrite other bonds with it, it presents a significant risk to investors.
I disagree with this statement. The only concern imho is "Will Dethmourne run off with my funds, or fulfill the terms of his agreement?" - this has effectively nothing to do with what I do with the ISK, unless you believe I'm going to magically lose the ability to make ISK in the process of trading/investing.

A couple of points.
First, Deth, NAV calculations include outstanding debt obligations - if you calcuate your NAV including your debts you're somewhere around -5b NAV.
Second, Dethmourne is a valuable member of this forum. One might even say Dethmourne is too valuable a community member for MD to let him fail. In light of this I propose that MD begin austerity measures (shared sacrifice yo, we have to to support that which we value) and bail Dethmourne out before his finances and financial reputation are irreparably ruined. I propose that we refer to this Dethmourne Bailout Plan as T.R.A.P., or, The Really Atrocious Plan to get dethmourne out of debt so he doesn't rage quit eve or slash his wrists. I know the acronym is shorter than the plan name, but whatever, this isn't relevant to saving a valuable member of the MD forum whorum community.

Lending someone a further 10b when they are already in the red by 5b is a great idea!

Why you gotta hate? Deth might be terrible with his finances but that only means he provides the rest of us with endless income opportunity.

Son I am disappoint. Misty tries a bit too hard to be good at this. My ship toasting, by comparison, is both pointed and nonchalant.

Originally by: Misty McGinnity cool story, bro.
I don't have a problem with trolls per se - but imo trolling posts should have a basis in reality and be somewhat believable.
You're just showing off that you have no idea of finance.
A friend of mine made some nice money with Greek government bonds last year - the bonds had a duration of 5 years, but guess what? he didn't hold them longer than 8 weeks. A miracle!
Either come up with some argument why you expect interest rates to rise or empirical data indicating that longer running bonds are more prone to failure (guess you could make some argument about burnout but otoh a perpetuity at a low interest rate allows the business manager to sit out prolonged periods of burnout without having to worry about earning ISK), or just drop your "OMG a foreverbond!!!" attitude.
A perpetuity means you get your money back when you want it (by selling it on the secondary market) and save on transaction costs while you hold it (as you don't have to look for new investments once your old ones have run out).
If you think 3% is a low interest rate that's fine - but that argument is entirely independent from the duration of the bond.
