OK, so I'm actually going to have to explain this to you??
1) There are a whole bunch of systems (1158 was it?) that suit your playing style.
2) When you jump to 0.4 for the first time, you get a little warning telling you that it is not safe space, and that CONCORD won't protect you there. That message is there for a reason. If you accept the message, you are clearly accepting the fact that you can be attacked there.
The idea behind this message is to warn players that have a lot to lose (ie. implants), that perhaps its not the best idea they ever had.
Now, you can see above the reasons I think you should stop complaining. Please explain to me why you complain without using all caps and without swearing or STFU. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

OK, now we are getting constructive - it only took 18 replies.
I used to run missions, and by carefully selecting the right (Level 3 was highest at the time) agent, I was never asked to go below 0.7 security.
If you run missions, select an agent in a nice high security system and give that agent all you got. I am sure you could do the same with a level 4 agent if you need to. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

This is a question of wish. What if i wish/want to do missions in 0.2 also? You know, more NPCs - more fun. But I also wish/want that NO ONE WILL DESTURB ME !!!
Well, now comes the problem. You can't have both, and this game would suck balls if you could have both.
You have to decide whether the risks outweigh the rewards - it is what this game is all about. I have lived below 0.4 for a great majority of my playing time, and never once been killed by a pirate (that I had not attacked myself).
Edit: Hmm... better make that once.... I just remembered this one time.... when m0o was camping Orvolle (when it was 0.4).... and they blew me up. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

Originally by: RollinDutchMasters Perhaps instead of complaining after getting obliterated (I assume thats what prompted this little alt-outburst), you would be better served purchasing a ship destruction insurance plan from your local neighborhood pirates.
Originally by: RollinDutchMasters
Two, you wouldnt be paying the so-called 'murderers', because they wouldnt be forced to terminate your current clone if you paid - ergo, they would not be your so-called 'murderers'.
Read carefully your previous post (the first quote). You mentioned pirates there. "to buy insurance plan from ... pirates"
If you read your reply to the first post quoted, you called them murderers. The second posts explains how if you paid them they would not be murderers because they would not kill you. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

I never said that 0.4 is for pvp only.
What I said is that by going to 0.4 you are accepting the risk that you may be killed while there. This has been a fact of EVE ever since I can remember.
I tell you what, 0.4 is great for mining too (not that I ever did that). There is lots of cool ore that is worth so much more than the stuff in 1.0.
Why is it worth more? because it is riskier to get. That doesn't seem to stop a lot of the players who mine there. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

Indy's are what you use after you scout. You can speed the process up by making something called a "friend". This "friend" can be used to run a jump or 2 ahead of your indy, and ensure the path is clear.
If your scout runs into any trouble, he can let you know that there is danger ahead, and that you should best dock or proceed to the nearest safe spot. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

If you would like me to spell it out to you again: If you go into 0.4, you are clearly accepting that whether you want it or not PvP may come to you.
NPC's are riskier there, yes. If you want to fight high end NPC's in 0.7 systems you can do that too, as I outlined earlier, by getting yourself an agent in a nice high security system. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

Worst... Idea..... Ever.....
This will ruin the game for pirates and anyone who is trying to chase down a ship.
I suggest this idea for a module. It's called a "Tech II Clue".
When you have a "clue", and are flying your industrial ship, this "clue" will help you to realise that it is not meant for running past pirate battleships. Having a "clue" will mean that you won't take your indy into a system you have not scouted. A "clue" often goes hand in hand with the "friend" i meantioned earlier in the thread.

Oh.. my... god....
Just imagine, xTHE ONEx, if you had a SCOUT, you would not need WARP STABILISERS, and you could fit CARGO EXPANDERS instead.
This is the sort of reward you get for team play. I think that our friend Ellandrian D'Amerathe has a Tech II Clue!!!

Dude, the whole point of 0.4 and less is that you can be attacked there.
The whole point of making Stabs and Expanders both fit in low slots is that there are rewards for teamwork.
Remember that "friend" thingy i told you about??
Well, (and I know this concept is waaaaay out there), you get your "friend" to scout. That way you don't need warp stabs, and can use expanders instead.
If you cant make or buy any "friends", you will have to do 2 trips instead of one. In reality, you are actually better off doing 2 trips than doing 1, because you are actually alive at the end!!! WHAT A BONUS!!! -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

Originally by: xTHE ONEx Trading comes from INDYs too. Story missions are in 0.4-0.3 also , and i think till 0.1 or 0.0 even.
Well I can't argue about story missions. All I know is that last time I was agent running, the game mechanics specified they would never send you to a system where the security status was vastly different from their home system.
That may well have changed now, but it was originally introduced because of this exact reason. I suggest you make a post on the "missions" forums if this is what concerns you, as I am sure there are many others who run story missions and manage to NOT get killed.
As for trading in an indy: I will start the broken record again. Use a fricking scout. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

You ever heard about "Stay on topic" !?

Edited by: jamesw on 31/01/2005 05:52:21 By the way, I don't see those "issues" as linked together.
The log-off-to-save-battleship issue is a). an issue, and b) not restricted to low security PvP.
The "wahh wahh i got shot by the evil pirate in 0.4" issue is a) not an issue, and b) if you think it is an issue, refer to a) and to my other posts on this thread. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

GOT NOTHING TO SAY ? - SHUT UP.
I have a lot to say, as evidenced by my numerous posts and helpful suggestions in your thread. You can thank me later for all my tips.
To the Mods - I think this thread does deserve a sticky: Perhaps we can delete all of xTHE ONEx's posts to this thread, then make it a sticky full of useful tips from myself and others on how not to get yourself killed in 0.4 or below.
It would be very helpful to the newer players of the game, and may help them not become so bitter like our friend here.
