Is it me or is pvp in this game a bit slow and boring. You spent weeks saving up for a really good ship to find that it almost costs half that again to insure it for just a week. On top of that the insurance doesn't give you back your weapons. surely if the insurance was better then the game would be far more fun. You would have massive wars going on and no one caring if their ship died.

If there is no risk, where's the challenge?
In my opinion, if you are a miner who has spent weeks mining themselves in a cruiser, then you are taking an enormous risk with PvP. You should buy a whole bunch of frigates and learn how to fight first.

Don't worry though, CCP is doing all they can to make sure that the only way someone will be able to die in this game is if they want to.
I hear the next patch after wednsdays prompts people who are being targetted and asks their permission to engage the person targetting them.
Simple 'yes/no' modal window.

Oh, that 'permission' thing will only pop up if you are not at war with the corp the person belongs to.
If you are at war it will allow you to lock on without the other person agreeing to it.

There are no such plans.
On another issue, the DED are planning to start a new defensive product line with funding from all the major empires. Termed the Pirate Leash(R), you will be able to attach that annoying pirate on your tail to the nearest planet, allowing you to zoom off to another asteroid belt with ease. For exploiters, they even ship your leash and pirate 50 systems away from your location (depending on regional availability).
For more information, consult your nearest DED official.
(Okay, so this was an over-enthusiastic response. PvP is a core part of the game, as long as it's legitimate, legal (in terms of game rules and their intended meaning), and not overly oppressive. Pirating is a welcome part of gameplay.)
