Here is a shout out to those fat, neck bearded bad guys: The Goons.
For years I played EVE on and off in High Sec, merrily doing my missions in my T1 Amarr ships, saving up for the day when I could maybe get a Battleship. All through this time the Goons were this bad, evil force lurking on the edge of the galaxy, a larger than life force which I knew nothing about ready to eradicate me as soon as I leave high sec.
Now I have finally got into what I always wanted to get into on EVE: NullSec Alliance warfare. I'm blue with the Goons and let me just say I love them like a brother. The type of brother who sometimes you walk in on him in his room and he's doing something so ridiculously stupid you question whether or not you're adopted (Tip: you are) or you ask him how his day has been and he makes a juvenile joke, realises you're not laughing so he swears at you and runs off.
I'm not scared of the Goons, anyone who spends time with them knows they are too bad at EVE to be scary. However I do love them as a brother.
So here's to the Goons! The Bad guys of EVE, the moustache twiddling villains, the barbarian hoardes, the communist super power, the terrorist organisation, the evil mega corp who wants to move all the natives to mine their imaginary metals.
Because let's face it, EVE is an amazing and detailed story, and every story needs a bad guy.
PS. Since this is CAOD I expect there will be like 100 posts telling me how they also love the Goons. I know this has probably been posted 100 times before as everyone loves them so much, but I thought I'd do it again.
