I've run out of useful things to train. Sure I could open up a whole new skill tree and fly minnie ships but it'd be pretty pointless. It's now just come down to capital ships 5 so I can fly a titan on the test server one day maybe.
Anyone else in this situation? What are you training?

Most people cross-train, but if you don't want to cross-train, and you think maxing out your racial skills completely is also a waste of time, then that sounds like a personal problem.

Try something completely different. I hear that T2 production, for example, can eat up a helluva lot of skill points. ----------

Cross-trained. Being able to fly any T1, T2 and T3 sub-capital ship makes you FOTM-proof. I honestly don't see the point in dedicating a character that can fly tons of ships to a Titan. If you can buy a titan you might as well buy a character that is specialised in the titan and titan only. Same could apply to SC.

Edited by: Pesky LaRue on 28/02/2011 00:11:46 currently training T2 lazorrz to pimp out a legion a little further, and on another char (indy) i'm training all the invention related skills to 5.
cross training turned out to be pretty much essential for this char once I'd gotten as good as i wanted to be with minny, so now my goal is be able to fly every ship (sub-cap) well. I can fly caps, but it's not really my style of game, so mine currently gather dust somewhere in deep lowsec.

Not quite at 70 yet, but I'll be there by the time this bit of training is concludedà
àand that's finishing off all the Freighters. When that's done, I'll be able to fly every ship in the game that does not require me to train for battleships, except for one. I have yet to decide whether to actually go for the Rorqual as well just for completeness sake, even though that would mean training an awful amount of otherwise unnecessary skills.
Then I'm off to finish the leadership and industry skills I started long ago. ùùù ôIf you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡à you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.ö ù Karath Piki |

I have every frig/cruiser/battleship to 5, currently going through and doing all the turret spec skills to 5, after that probably finish up on the missile skills, then do all the tech2 ship skills. then probably a remap over to int/mem got some skills over there that could use some polish.

I'm crosstrained, no capitals and only have one race BS trained while still somehow clocked up 96m SP on a pure PVP character.
Currently training medium pulse spec 5 btw.

Once I reach this point I hope for CCP to introduce T3 frigate, T3 BS and T3 module skills
I'm broadband-trained anyway.. except for caps. Will never sit in one. Got 70M and 80M on two characters and the 10M difference will be purely leadership on the older one once I'm done.

I'm in the exact same position and was wondering this very thing, rather lucky I found this thread.
I was going to get the second and third character slots trained for PI/datacore production, and I still might.
Cross training sounds like a good idea but it's only really useful to pvp pilots.
I suppose I could go that route but I do hate module shopping.
70M sp is a LOT of skill points actually as I have maxed shields, missiles, PI, research (to the point I want them), mining (orca maxed not rorq), as well as the important caldari ships maxed as well.
I suppose I could max the tengu skills but I don't fly one any more even though they are pretty damn sweet.
So thanks for the thread I'll keep an eye on it see what other people suggest.
I guess it's easier if you max any and all skills that you can for the sake of doing so.

For a SC? You just need an alt that can sit in it when your main is off fighting in subcaps.

Train toward a hulk or something and have a combat/miner pilot. And then train an alt for cyno/orca support/scouting.
Very long term skill plan and the two chars will compliment each other nicely.

I completely maxed out every Gallente ship I fly, vexor/dominix/ishkur/proteus/tristan (hell yea), and got most of the useful Minmatar-related ones up, including all the nav's, and have Caldari BS 5 and shield tank skills to max out a Rattlesnake, but I haven't even scratched Amarr whatsoever and am around 80M sp.
Cross-training is an inevitability after a certain point, since getting Rails to 5 is just plain silly.

If you do only have one character, I would do like what was suggested above. Train all medium sized weapons and train all race ships from battle cruiser on down. Not only will you have a tremendous variety of ships to chose from, but you become nerf proof.
