oooooh... hmmm... are you fishing for compliments I wonder? EVE is a bit too dystopian for me.
X-wing and/or TIE Fighter (or I could just say starwars and be done with it). or Mechwarrior (and here I could just say Battletech and be done with that).
but a universe from one game or gameseries? Flashback. because for a platforming game, it has a surprisingly vast and very interesting world. and unlike it's spiritual predecessor Another World.. Not everything in this world wants to kill you in increasingly horrible ways.

I have a lesbian friend who said that game is "the gayest thing she's ever done" - that's gotta be high praise, right? :D
In terms of living in a game: Magicka. Crazy random stuff blowing up and control of various magical energies that cause things to blow up. And a not-Vampire. I like a bit of randomness every so often :)

Hey, Gnolams get double income, and janitors have relatively cushy (if yucky) jobs that are usually paid quite well for such a menial task. I could do worse than that. Plus, nobody wants to assassinate a janitor, and you don't see many janitors as collateral damage in any movies. Truly, being a Gnolam janitor has to be a dream job. Hmm, how do you mean? If you mean as a generic NPC, then there aren't many games that are that interesting tbh, what with the usual toil of daily life. If everything is happy-lala-land it's either unrealistic or something akin to Syndicate (a chip in your brain that changes a Blade Runner-esque world into a utopia, in case you didn't know). Either way, the NPC's rarely have it easy.
However, I suppose life in the Black & White universe would be pretty sweet, as long as it was someone like me being god (I'm total a wuss and can't even be evil in frickin' game if I have any choice).
Now, if you mean as the main character it's another matter entirely, and plenty of games (mostly sci-fi) would be appealing. No games I can think of stand out though, too many options.

Hmm, *if* I could be a capsuleer then Eve. I certainly wouldn't want to be a regular citizen in most of the empires.
Failing that, not sure tbh - games tend to be set in dangerous universes which, like films and fiction, are probably more fun to play in / read etc than live in. Slight cheat but I'll say STO - the Federation could be good as a member of the public.

You're not thinking outside the box - or the Age, for that matter. I sided with the Age Builders (as well as the Maintainers) back in the day, so I've seen what can be done. Example 'Link'.
Though personally, I'd probably make my own Age to be self-sufficient in, and jump in behind it (that was the reason behind the two main Prison ages, as seen in in the Revelation game).

Edited by: Yurij Sobeit on 04/03/2011 15:04:47 I'd Live in the Deus Ex universe. I don't know much about it, I was not especially a fan of the first episode but... With nano technologies, genetic engineering and stuff I could have a screen within my eyes and a brain controlled PC. So I would be able to play Eve while pretending to work.
I wonder why so much people want to be in Mass Effect. I mean I love these games, but the setting is not all that original, it's the narration that makes it so great... If it's all about Miranda, she is modeled after a real life actress (Yvonne Strahovski) so technically we all live in the same world as her already ! Better, there is only one system / one planet to search for her.

- Myst would be boring, and I would quickly starve. Did you see anywhere to grow food? - Star Wars? I'm already looking as vast tracts of black vacuum in this game. - Splinter Cell would be nice, but that's...reality. - FarCry was okay, but the Trijans get uppity and stalk you. - Neverwinter Nights 1/2 would be great for my social life, but dealing with a rogue's knife in your back or the neighbor casting Crumble on your security golem would be such an annoyance. - Mass Effect? Get ganked by Batarians if I leave Concord, err, Citadel space. - Prey? See Myst. Not eating my relatives. - MechWarrior? Truly, clan warfare is the apex of civilization. Who cares about peace? - Any game in the Unreal franchise. See above. - Battlefield. See above and Splinter Cell. Collapsing the house of the punk kid next door would be fun, though.
Nope, none of those are for me. Strange as it may sound, I'd like to live inside Half-Life 2 for the following reasons: - nice scenery (for the time it was made) - guns, and the encouragement to use them - chicks with guns - chicks that want to procreate but can't get their libido up - guns that pick up people and fling them over a cliff - guns that pick up the girl who wants to break up with me because I'm off saving the world and too busy to be with her and fling her into the headcrab pit
Can't swim in the ocean, but I'd be able to clear a few acres of alien infestation each day. Something for future generations to enjoy.

Damn you beat me to it, and i assume only because youŠve been reading the other "incarna issue whatever" thread where i mentioned that. Damn it! Are you even old enough to know it? DAMN IT!
I first played it when I was 12, so I was almost a whole decade after it's release date

Baldur's Gate/Forgotten Realms.
I'd love a scifi setting that is just as deep and huge, but there's none like it at the moment... EVE is also too dystopian, Mass Effect is too shallow (for now). Baldur's Gate i love, maybe because of nostalgia, but still...

I would say an Inquisitor like the one from Dawn of War Retribution...
I mean imagine being able to call whole legions of armies together at will, being able to have the power to have planets wiped of all life..

You can pretty much do whatever you want get busted by cops, get killed, go to hospital and you're fine. Like groundhog day but with style.
Attention to detail is great, you can drive any vehicle without having to BUY it with ISK and best of all you can follow the storyline or just explore and try all kinds of stunts. It's a true sandbox game IMHO.

Edited by: Actionbastrd on 14/03/2011 02:23:08 Not really a video game (the video games that were made sucked), But the DUNE Universe is where I'd choose if I could. Frank Herbert, and even his son, Were/Are both incredible writers.
