I guess this is a whinge. Im just sad because every time i have lost a BS it has been to EW, and to date i have only ever had one "fair" fight in it (he warped away)
I dont see this as pvp in the sense of counterstrike, i see it like paper sissors stone. And i dont like it.

EW ships are fun. They dont even need to be scrambled, they just die before they can get to warpspeed.

Megathron can easily easily fit 2 x magneto backups, giving it a sensor strength of 22. That is enough to withstand up to 5 multispecs.
I assume you are talking 1v1, as 2v1 you should probably lose anyway. EW or no EW.

If my ship blew up to a bloodclaw light missile I wouldn't come on the forum to cry about how unfair it was.
EW is part of the game, its there to counter people that load their ships up to purely tank and deal max dmg.

and i just can't believe some of you actually waste your time telling people that them posting about a ship loss or whatever else is a whine? I don't get it..
this is a game, you expect people to not vent about happenings from in-side the game to people on these boards? haha, oh yes, naive is the word I would use for this.
What does it hurt them venting on these boards? not a damn thing. except, it makes these people an easy target for those of you who do take the game a little bit too seriously.

Flames aside, what makes EvE great is that there is no single "best" tactic or ship. Everything can fall before something else. For instance, the list is long and distinguished of the EW pilots who've lost their ships to insta-locking Gankageddons. If you continuously get deprived of a kill to the same thing happening, I would submit that you need to change your tactics.
Moral of the story: either kit your ship differently, change your tactics, or... nope - that's about it. Happy flying!

I've killed a target-jamming Scorp in a Blasterthron without any back-up arrays... used drones and did several attack runs, until he finally ran out of cap to activate all of his Multispecs... after that, it didn't take him long to die.
What I'm saying is, next time try harder:-)
(although I hate it how drones no longer defend you when you're target jammed)

Hehe, been trying that too. Just that a second BS arrived to prevent me from finishing it.
However, as has been stated, you should have no problems winning against a scorp.
If you're unsure what he has fitted, try to trick him to reveal it. Make a 'fake attack' so he jams you, get out of there, and 'show info' on your ship to see what he has. Then refit accordingly if you have a station in the system. If he has dampeners, just make sure that you warp in properly so that you land within 10km from him.

I don't see this game as pvp in the sense of counterstrike, i see it like poker. That's why I like playing EVE, it's a laid back game (only need one hand as opposed to WoW) and when you win it's got a lot to do with your wits.

Wait wait, you just sat around and waited for a target jammer Scorp to kill you? You didn't even, you know, warp away? Or had you managed to get yourself so close to him that he had you webbed and scrambled too?
In order for this to work, it would seem you were using a Blasterthron, without a MWD, against a Scorp with 4xMultispecs, at least 1xWeb and 1xWarp Disruptor, which would imply that he needed to have the other 6 slots (2 mid, 4 low) fitted with Cap Charger IIs and Cap Power Relays, just to keep the thing running, meaning he likely didn't have any speed enhancements either (i.e. he didn't have a MWD either).
So, you let a ship that was slower than you proceed to target jam you and get close enough to scramble you, and then you proceeded to allow him to get close enough to web you as well.
This does not make sense. There has to be more going on here than you are telling us about.

Hey buddy. my advice to you is this: get some of your corpmates together and practice fighting. Then figure out what you did wrong, refit, and try again. and again, and again. Eventually you will figure out some good strategies and tactics to use. THEN go out and find that guy in the scorp and try again. There is a LOT more to fighting in this game than rock/paper/scissors. You have to have a plan, follow it, and if it doesn't work, hopefully get away and try again later. If you want some advice on fighting with a megathron convo me in-game.

Btw people are assuming it was a scorp but it wasnt, it was a raven.
Yes i am a combat noob... I charged towards him, he only jammed me when i was close in.. then i wondered what the heck to do and the guy i was with said leg it... so i got to 25 k away (i had a mwd) and started to warp, but he had a 20 k jammer, so just before i warped he jammed me again, and i popped cause i ran out of cap (it was a mega, after all )
I posted what i said cause i was ****ed off. I was ****ed off because it seems imposible to have a proper one on one fight, at least it seems it to me. (and when i do, i die hehe)

Your basic statement that there is a counter for everything is correct, but I did have to laugh at the idea that an instalock geddon is gonna pee on my parade anytime soon as an EW guy. I think your source of confusion lies in the idea that every scorp pilot kits out 6 multis in his med slots. Got dampener? :D

So what is a proper one on one fight ? I see tier 2 bs vs tier 2 bs playing the same game, using the same rules. All seems proper to me. Perhaps you would like your opponent to file his setup in triplicate before commencing combat, just to check it's fair by your standards ?
You didn't lose your ship to ew, you lost your ship to not knowing how to deal with ew. You want to post on the forums that you don't know what your doing, fine. Just don't try and make out that game mechanics has anything to do with it.

If a scorp guy is gonna sit there at <20 and duke it out w/ pretty much anything(cept an intie in which case I like more inties to make it merrier for my nos's) then he\she deserves to die. Just get some range, and the drones are meaningless.

I guess fleeing via logout is the ultimate tipping of the hat in respect for an EW guy. I guess you are literally scared out of the game of him\her...hehe.

You didn't lose your ship to ew, you lost your ship to not knowing how to deal with ew. You want to post on the forums that you don't know what your doing, fine. Just don't try and make out that game mechanics has anything to do with it.
I never "make anything out" i said what happened. I think it sucks, and it spawned a whole page of trolling. So unless someone has anything interesting to say (which a few have) i wont respond to any more trolling teenagers trying to be hard.

Edit; im not even umplying the guy in the raven did anything wrong, i am saying i dont like the way the game works, RE; EW.
Especially as a blaster pilot (well, ex blaster pilot, i wont buy another) to gimp your ship with a mwd etc, and then, when you actually do manage to get in range... to get neutered is simply frustrating. I dont think its fun, which is why i play the game but it gets exasperating.

i dont use EW very often, but it's presence in the game is something i approve of whole-heartedly.
it is one of the things that prevents the game being a contest of "who has the biggest gun"

(probably already been said, didnt read all the replys)
All you need to do to avoid this is sacrifice 2 low slots for defensive mods (wcs's/backup array's). I know 2 low slots are tough to lose but so is a ship. If you choose not to spend the slots you'll be fine most of the time but eventually it will cost you a ship. Also with a mega use 2 launchers and keep FOF's ready, a EW ship cant take much damage and will eventually have cap problems. Just defend and repair yourself til the EW boat runs out of cap then own it(done it to a raven personally).
EW adds alot to this game. It allows lesser player to stand up to stronger players, it make fleets battles more intresting, it allows you to fight out-numbered etc, etc..

fair points, yes. I gotta say, i dont (havnt) used defensive mode. I wouldnt use back up arrays though, as they can also do the EW that increases your locking time.
Oh yeah, thats the thing that is especially annnoying about EW... its not like if i put x number of backup arrays in low ill be ok... cause they could use the other type of ew... but yeah, WCS qould have been ok. plus i wasnt expecting a 20k scrambler :) ah well.

Thats right to be a know it all in EVE you need the abilty to flame people with a variety of symbols numbers and letters, this will make you easy to recognise as a leet player. Its also hilariously funny, just like it was over 5 years ago in Quake and CS and the like.
Now admittadly for the last 3 or so years it has only been kids left saying it as the rest of the community has realised how unfunny and dumb it is now (aside from being very old and tiresome) , But i can say with all confidence now i,m playing EVE and the same type of online chat is comming back, none of these "leet" talkers look like 12 year olds atall in fact i am in awe of their ability to curse and insult using numbers and letters and using the same words we did all those years ago. Its how I know these guys are the best you know!
Yes i,m appologise i can be a little sarcky, but honestly when i stopped playing cs it was largely down to 2 factors
1: peoples insistance on playing the same dull map all the time not trying any new ones cos they only play dust and aztec and they suck on anything else.
2: the incredebly old and so unfunny (after a few years) leet speak which most adults had ditched and only the young teenagers were still using
cos they thought it made them sound like they knew what they were doing and cool.
I joined EVE alot higher percentage of adults here
But it turns out although the pysical age is older the mental age apparently isnt.
