EVE without highways was much bigger, miss the old times without autopilot and highways...

EVE is a good game (except R&D profession), CCP is a small but good game company. They gave you EXODUS for FREE. They worked their asses to get it where it is now.
They make mistakes as anyone else.
Call me crazy but i nearly have time to play but i still pay my subscription, mainly because i feel EVE is my "baby" too.
I like the family type corp CCP is and i admire them for being small but with an enourmous vision.
But im not a fan boy. There's alot of stuff that really **** me off like R&D, highways, IJBM's, logging off timer too short.
Well a perfect game for me doesn't exist but this one is preaty damn close to it.
I'm just sad i don't have time to play more as i did before.

I second that.
I third that
I wonder how all those kids would feel if we'd take away the highways and autopilot, bringing Eve back to what it used to be back in the days
Should that include Arkonor within 5 jumps of Jita?

hahah yeah
And don't forget the Gemini plutruns!
50m isk an hour in a Kestrel anyone?

The whole point of Eve is that it's continually evolving.
Sure, there are bugs in the game, but as far as I'm concerned, they're a small price to pay for a game that constantly challenging.
The day that CCP stops introducing new stuff or developing the game is the day that Eve becomes stale.

Bugs, I accept, exist in every game.
But some things cannot be excused and these relate more to communications, and holding up other examples of bad managment or bad customer service isn't an excuse either.
There isn't any excuse for old bugs resurfacing each and every time there's a new patch, especially when they're features that haven't (or at least don't appear to have) been touched.
There's no excuse for stealth changes - they should all be logged for development, surely, so tell us about them, even if the patch notes are long and dull. (See MWD/AB changes)
There's no excuse for saying you've patched something when you haven't. As part of releasing it, surely it should be reasonable for us as customers to expect someone to have gone down the list and checked each function or change is actually working or exists.
There's no excuse for the number of bugs CCP don't even seem to have acknowledged - how can we help them find bugs if we don't know what they already know about or not, or what they're working on fixing or not?
Building new levels of content on incomplete foundations is frustrating and leads to extra work for everyone in balancing and fixing all the new content as well as the old content.
At the end of the day, what we as customers are lacking is a sense of CCP's direction, beyond the shiny new ships they like to distract us with in blogs.
What about the missing Exodus features? Where's the brief note to explain what's still to do and in what priority, that at least would let us see whether things are likely to improve, what's coming and what's on the backburners etc.

ooh please, its all the same every patch. I guess the ones putting up these posts are about 1 month old and never experienced an eve patch day because it goes like this:
Server is patched. Then everybody comes home from work and in about 4 hours time about 30.000+ people want to download a 6 mb patch from the server.
I day of lag, the game is unplayable, the second day it isn't great. But after that we have another bugfixed new content patch.
live with it:)

Quote: Even with your definition, EVE does crash for me once in a while especially when I undock.
mine did this if i changed from full screen-> window or vice versa while docked then undock. Then I updated my graphics card drivers and all is now fine.
have you the latest version of your graphics card drivers? All possible windows updates? re-installed directX?

I've got the lastest drivers, every possible windows updates and I just re-installed directx. It is also happening to some of my friends so I guess it has nothing to do with my configuration. __________________________________________________ He conquers who endures. |

Originally by: Deliz Seemack I join this game one month ago. One of the main reason I choose EVE Online is because since it's quite old right now, I thought there wouldn't be too many bugs in it. I was wrong. This game is plagued with obvious bugs. It seems that the quality of it is like beta. Beta tester is a real job. People get paid to find bug and report them to the developers. I feel like I'm doing that job but instead of being paid, I have to pay.
Alright n00b. Here's the dig. This isn't your average production game. It's dynamic. It's being coded as we speak to prepare for the future. Have you ever written a program? If you don't have bugs to work out (even little ones) ii's inheritly flawed somewhere that you haven't looked. And beyond that what bugs are you talking about? The only things I've seen as of late are grammar problems and alot of user error. Grammar because the people making this thing are from iceland I'm sure their english is fine but it's not something they ever really wanted to master just like you probably don't give a hoot about bushman. You have to let some of that go. User error because you don't jump when you come out of a bm cause you don't know when you're actually out of warp or because there are too many cans in your n00b belts and you don't like them there. How many times have you actually crashed to desktop? or gotten stuck? or had an acutual error message come up? If it's been more than once on any of those problems I promise it's something on your end. I've played through alot of the 'bugs' and have seen very little (EVEN in the WORST of times) of any behavior that could be defined as a sure fire bug.

Agreed!
BTW I don't know where you live but i've never had bad problems with server lag. I've been playing as long as anyone and i've only been stuck twice (even in beta) and I probably play 300 days out of the year. |

Hmm. I think "durrr" is the only possible response to your post.
CCP did *not* make EXODUS for free, they just didnt screw us over like most other MMO companies* (*cough* SOE *cough*). We pay a monthly fee that covers server upkeep *and* new content development.
Every MMO is constantly evolving because they want your $15 bucks a month for a long time. CCP don't add new content because they are nice guys, they do it because they want you to keep p(l)aying.
That said EVE beats every other game I have ever played for sheer longivity.
* I find it insulting that companies like SOE will take your $15 a month and still have the cheek to charge $30-$40 for a crappy expansion. --------------------------------------------------

Ok, I'll list some MMORPGs
WoW (MAYBE, THE ONLY ONE)
Ac2 - crap EQ - haha EQ2 - yes, real winner EnB - err? DAoC - nope SWG - yes, most stable game.. ever AO - haha RO - pure balance :D CoH - shouldn't even be called an MMORPG FFXI - Not very popular, for a reason. Lineage2 - The definition of stability and balance Neocron - joke of a game
now, where are these stable, well balanced mmorpgs that Eve is behind? Short of WoW and maybe CoH, I see NOT ONE.
All mmorpgs are unstable, need balancing, noone is ever happy with their current state, etc. get use to it.. or speak up and let us know about some of these magical games, because i'd like to be playing one right now (in my opinion, i am. Eve.. )
Comparing games doesn't answer my question. Are we beta testers working for CCP ?
As someone said, you are a beta tester, as any computer software you bough ! Nice links (updated 20 Dec 04): BP, bugs about them. (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way. |

I have been here since Early beta.
This is the same each time they do a new patch and old Bugs i have not seen in a long time appers almost missed them. I usally lose a Bs on each patch day. and asking for a Reinbursment is like asking the wall. Given that all up.
What makes me curios is how they managed to dig up old bugs and employ them on new patches ?
and to info to all of you girs & boys out there, take you BS fit 2 armour reps and 3 armour hardners, 2 seiges Launchers with torps. go out to a rock zomm in and activate it all. And tell me that the game works really nice now
Patch day is not good for my heart.
and to all of you that has only to say quit the game. If we do that the patches get even whorse as ccp get less money

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
I Love Patchday!
before i used to keep up with the Eve-Offline Community (forums, irc, etc.), i had no clue when a patch was coming. and i'd love to randomly log in and see "Patching".
i still love it today! Patchday for the Win !!
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

I 3th or more that. Beta-testing was a whole differend thing then playing it now. I can say with having done beta-testing EVE from beta6 and playing it still that this game is jumping forward with all kind of cool stuff (with a few bugs sometimes) but still is 300% better then what it was in beta-time
enjoy playing
-edit oh, and btw, if you ever find a bug-free game, let us know about it
