I join this game one month ago. One of the main reason I choose EVE Online is because since it's quite old right now, I thought there wouldn't be too many bugs in it. I was wrong. This game is plagued with obvious bugs. It seems that the quality of it is like beta. Beta tester is a real job. People get paid to find bug and report them to the developers. I feel like I'm doing that job but instead of being paid, I have to pay. __________________________________________________ He conquers who endures. |

I've seen this exact thread on the boards of every MMORPG ever made.
Perhaps instead of beta-testing eve, you could go play in traffic? Its free.

You know the term "Gone Gold"?
Well, that applies to Eve.

Don't forget having to mine, do missions, and other unrewarding but necessary tasks.

I second Rollin's post. Also realize you joined right after the largest expansion in the game's, maybe any MMOG's, history. But you should have been around for Castor if you want to see a buggy expansion (though it was fairly quickly stabilized).

It might be a broader problem than. It seems like game companies tend to fall into greed easily. Releasing unfinished projects to the public, creating a dependency and getting a huge flow of money to finish their projects. __________________________________________________ He conquers who endures. |

if they had waited longer to deploy shiva/exodus people like you would have been whining about that too

The second you installed windows, you became a beta tester.
Ask yourself "Do I get my moneys worth from EVE"
If the answers Yes, stfu If the answers no, see RollinDutchMasters post.

It's called an evolving game. If you want stability, try a single-player game. You might get it then, but probably not. Maybe in consoles, but they're far easier to program for.
The fact of the matter is, as long as everyone uses different equipment in the billions of possible combinations of configurations that are out there, you'll never see a 100% stable game. This is especially true for MMOGs that by nature aren't stagnant, continuously adding new features which cannot be accurately bug tested until released to the whole playerbase.

And as always the solution to this is easy. If you don't like the game cancel your monthly fee. If you like it keep playing. If you want to keep playing but still feel thr urge to complain then make some constructive comments and not a whine post.

Try writing for the PS2. It'll make you want to shoot yourself within two weeks. =)
We'll always have bugs in EVE, if only because the game keeps evolving. New features are added, tweaked, and rewritten every month. If you run into a bug, submit a bug report. If you don't like the current state of the game, then cancel your subscription. But if you expected this thread to become some kind of crusade where every player decides to quit, you gotta get off the Mindfood. =)

I had more fun in the beta.
As stated many other times. Bugs are the nature of MMOs. Eve is heavily riddled with bugs, moreso than other MMO's, mainly because of the constant "balancing" and "tweaking" going on. Every single patch we have to learn new rules, new tactics, and figure out which weapons systems got the silent nerf, and which got the silent boost. Which of those said nerfs/boosts were intended, and which were accidents and are now considered exploits, which fixes and additions have broken what NPC's and why the hell you keep getting wtfpwnd by concord or any other random things you discover on - or shortly after - patch day.
It's funny... this game has never been balanced, and it'll never be balanced. If it's alive in 5 years, it'll still be riddled with bugs and imbalances. We still wont have interbus, bugs from beta will still remain, and people will still whine about anything and everything. The devs will still nerf the entire game in an attempt to repair some exploit when a real fix could have been done in 5 minutes with little to no negative repercussions.
Yet, for all my anger and dissapointment with the way CCP has handled things over the years.. I can't leave for longer than 1 or 2 months. After I play around with all the other MMO's I come to the grim realization that EVE is the best of the best.
All you can do is chime in with constructive posts, and hope the powers that be listen to the smart posts and not the dumb ones. (fat chance I know) I've been here since beta phase 3, and I'll be here when expansion "buddah" tech 50 comes rolling around. So will the bugs. So will the nerfs. So will the random comments in IRC about how uber so and so is because he/she did such and such with this or that combination of doodats and widgets. Escrow still wont be "finnished and working as intended" the bounty system will still be a joke. Pirates will still just be gate campers, and fleet battles will still be blob wars. 1 setup will still pwn all others, and all the time you've spent specializing will still be time wasted.
And you still wont hear anything about interbus. (Leave me alone, I'm moving 40+ ships 20+ jumps AND SHUTTLES WERE JUST A TEMPORARY "FIX" 'TILL INTERBUS - yes I remember that dev post..I even had a nice little chat in IRC with the devs about it. Internal testing my ass.)
and it'll still be the best MMo on the market.

if you don't wake up, i'll have to stop kissing you. all that flailing has made you sleepy. you rest while i untie you. stay here until they find you. My hand made mannequin. i won't let them get you. they'll know you're mine by the fingerprints on your throat. isn't she lovely? isn't she wonderful? like the *****s that we are, swatting flies from the wounds we design. |

So far in this topic we still don't know what "obvious" bugs you're on about. Start naming some. I've been playing the game for a little under a year and I never thought it was that buggy at all. My conclusion is that you're a crybaby. Quit playing the game.

EVE Beta was very buggy (understatement), the game has come along a LONG, LONG way since then.
Now, I understand how upset some people may be, but understand - despite the bugginess you can experience, EVE is one of the best managed, least buggy MMO's out there. Then consider that it is made by a small company in ICELAND; and you have to stop complaining, instead you end up being very impressed. If you have played other MMOG's, at least.
Regardless, if you are so upset about it - cancel your subscription, I know I won't miss people that whine so much. --------

While every MMO has bugs. WoW which I also play doesn't have nearly as many issues. Should probably put the nearly in BOLD.
Nonetheless I'm not a elves/dwarves/warriors fan. So I stick with Eve. Just wish it was less buggy.

wow has a big development team...plus the financial backing to pay for development...
eve ha sa small development team made by a small company with not nearl;y as much money that blizzard has
and for how small ccp is...they sure make a kickass game and upkeep it just fine...
they just need to pay more attention to balance is all

Dont worry ive been playing eve since it was released in 2003[i even remember the random warp in location problems lol]. The problems you are seeing now are normal afer all big patches for this game give it a week or 2 sometimes a month and the game will be smooth again this is why you will see a lot of small patches like the one we are getting today [01/01/05].
Message of the post be patient be cool .

For every bug WoW doesn't have over Eve, it has the same amount of servers that go down multiple times a day and has auction houses (some simplified form of excuse for a market) that go down.
WoW's stability is a joke, please don't ever try to think that Eve is less stable than WoW :) ------------------------------------------ I am a love machine, feeding my fantasy, give me a kiss or three, have fun!

Edited by: Pelias on 01/02/2005 17:56:19 Well, check other games. No, seriously do. You'll be back in EVE after a week. Daakon: I don't give a **** how big CCP is. If they're too small, they should hire more people. EVE have 40,000 subscribers, that's 400000*15$=600,000$ a month. A month! My eve client use approx 90 mb/month. Multiply by 40,000 users, divde byday/hour/sec and you'll see that eve needs as little as 20 mbit/s bandwith, you can get it for less than 2,000$. Say 10,000$ if you want SLA. You end with 590,000$ a month to spent*.
WoWFanboy: you're seeing less bugs in WoW, cause entire game is just smacking monsters, with textures being only difference. If you could took everything besides npc farming from EVE, it would be pretty bugless, too:P
Neverthless, EVE is still best game of all. Market system, size of the world, unrestricted (in 50% of the world) PvP and just one server - you won't find it in any other game. If you do, let us know:P

To list a few of them:
- Ship's cargo used space not accurate/updated - The gang interface is not accurate/updated - Disconnect on undock - Agents not showing in the agents tab in a station - Agents sending evemail for missions but are not responding at the station __________________________________________________ He conquers who endures. |
