Women Gamers of EVE (WGoE) is an ingame chat channel created for IRL Women gamers only.
It has been around since 2003, and has since become an active chat channel where female EVE gamers can come and chat about anything EVE or non-EVE related.
I have just created our first EVElopedia page with further details about this channel. Please check it out if you're interested in the history of WGoE, and for further contact details.
I would like to invite all women gamers in EVE to join the Public Channel "WGOE=Public" and chat to us there. Please note, this is a public channel so anyone - including men - are allowed. In order to get into the private "WGoE" channel you will then need a voice interview with one of the channel Administrators.
The channel has been rapidly growing this year, and we would love to see this trend keep going!
If you know any IRL women that play EVE, please get them to check out the EVElopedia article and to contact us ingame.

I've been thinking about joining a few times, but forgotten about it. I'll try to remember joining the public channel after the DT.
Oh, and I can always try to get soem of the EVE-players at my knitting forum to join up as well (almost 20 known EVE-players there) =)

Also, I don't believe at all that these ladies are seeking attention by doing this. Rather, I'm sure it's a bit of an 'escape' for them. Every time I've ever been on a voice channel and a female pipes up, the whole room goes bonkers with the equivalent of "ZOMG A FEMALE!"

Yeah, just to clarify. The Public channel is mainly there as a process for women to find the Admins online, and then proceed to have a voice interview for the private channel.
You'd be surprised how quiet the public channel is really, usually only the Admins and Mods hang out in there. I've only ever chatted to a handful of guys that come in and leave very quickly likely due to boredom

Its a great channel if you just want some quiet place to hang out in and small chat once in a while if you feel like it. There is no pressure to be active,and you can leave the channel for months at the time and rejoin whenever you feel like it.
I know plenty of girls that choose to not join a channel like this,im guessing because they think its something like... "ohh hey look at me! My boobs look huge in this dress!" or "i got some new makeup today". If that is the case please rest assured that i have never even once seen a conversation like that occur (unless you count showing off wedding dresses and pictures but i think we have the right to do that
You will find people from all sorts of corps and alliances ofc,but its kept civil with some friendly banter once in a while
So if you just want a nice place to hang out and meet some new people,or possibly a new player looking to join corps with other females,please stop by and say hello

The channel regularly has 20-30 women online at the same time these days. This is up from an average of 10 about this time last year I think, so it's great news.

Posting again to say how much I like this channel.
I didn't start playing Eve to join a "girls club" and talk about knitting, kittens and how smelly boys are.
Then I discovered WGOE! It's great fun and I've made some new friends I'd not have gotten to know otherwise. And as much as I hate to admit it is quite freshing to be talking to ladies sometimes rather than dudes (as much as I love my dude friends).
Anyone who is curious but not sure what the appeal would be, think of it as a womens networking group/little side community that you can be a part of.
And the knitting isn't all the bad either

I'm assuming that she's female since she's your mom and not your dad.... lol The requirements for joining the channel are pretty easy:
1. Be female
2. Have a voice chat with us so we can verify you are female
As long as she meets both of those, she's welcome! :) She (and anyone else) is also more then welcome to join us in the public channel at anytime. No interview required for the public channel.

You'd be surprised how quiet the public channel is really, usually only the Admins and Mods hang out in there. I've only ever chatted to a handful of guys that come in and leave very quickly likely due to boredom
