Well done CCP!
Lots of stuff being fixed/modified that needed it.
I'm sure some will complain, but I think this will be a very positive patch.
Looks like the Devs actually do listen :P ============================================== "Trust no man who says to you that 'The ends justify the means' or who says that 'We will do whatever it takes...'. These men have no honour, and are fit only to be politicians."

The new factory/research interface is much improved. The weapon damages aren't 'as' devastating as it was before.
A good patch it seems.

Missing info:
Missile Launcher Capacity has changed but so has missile volume.
Light missiles are now 0.5, heavy missiles 2.5 and cruise 5 (volume).
Pirate drop launchers have capacity bonus over standards now. (eg A3 arbalest holds 9, M12 Arbalest 14, Limos 55 <lights>)
Cruise missile dam now 300
Torpedo now 450
lots more

There is something said in the patch notes about a "Fast Talk" skill. Will it be in the market ? Or not available like some others skill... Anyway, we'll see tomorrow.
Thinking about it, as I am playing a female char, shouldn't I have that "Fast Talk" skill at lvl 5 from character creation. ;)

I don't like that they will make webbing and warp scrambling considered attacks. It's basiclly the only defense miners have against vultures out to steal ore from their operating.
They may intend there to be a risk to group mining, but where's the risk to the thieves ? They can slip in and snatch ore and with this change, there's nothing you can do but cuss them out as they fly away laughing. If you attack them, the cops blow up your ship (or try to). Even if you succeed in destroying their ship, you take a security hit, so you still wind up screwed.
As it is now, if we can web and warp scramble them, we at least have some recourse. If folks want to act as criminals, then there should be accountability for their acts. As it stands with stealing ore from someone, there is no accountability, you can't even place a bounty on them if they have positive security status.

please, people, stop dragging ore theft into every thread. I know it's a pain in the ass, but there *are* secure containers, and like has been said before, if you don't leave your ore floating in space for ages, then there's nothing for them to steal.
Most of the problem stems from people mining more than their team can effectively manage, leaving it floating in space/switching ships, etc.
The other alternative is to just kill them, suck up the sec hit, and laugh for the rest of the night, because ore-thieves expect to get away free, and haven't got the common sense to fit ECM. .

yep i dont like the web/warp thing either.
but, when you drop ore in space, its basicly "free for all". I think that the devs want to "force" players to dock regular to bring the ore's back to station, or use the miner's with indy scenario. Problem would be solved if there were some bigger cargo containers in the game that you can password protect, 250m3 does not cut it when you are pulling 65 m3 with one miner, or 350 m3 per minute with a full mining set. At the rate i and some others in a my corp are mining Indy sized cargo containers would be a good thing.

I see alot of GREAT changes in the patch previeuw notes
FINALLY the range modifiers on ammo works!! FINALLY the weaponskills have stoped stacking with weaponupgrades!!
This should bring a very good fix to those 'uber' weapons that have been sturing things up on these forums...
The new corp management options look to be very very potent. I aplaud any increase in security and expansion on given roles!
Thumbs up for this patch!
Now i only hope the implementation goes as smooth as possible and doesnt require an emergency fix...
Originally by: cashman It's time for Eris to get a clue. CCP should make a statement about this.
It's the exact same things as what Zombie did, you may not attack in "safe-areas" (empire/within sentry range) without loosing your ship.

I'll comment as I please. Your not forced to read it, and if the topic bothers you, skip it.
Secure containers aren't an option. They do not hold nearly enough. Plus they can still just blow them up without consequence. I'm sure most of these thieves only do it to make someone angry than for profit anyways.
Quote: Most of the problem stems from people mining more than their team can effectively manage, leaving it floating in space/switching ships, etc.
Or they can hang out and try grabbing it before the Indi pilot can take it.
Quote: The other alternative is to just kill them, suck up the sec hit, and laugh for the rest of the night, because ore-thieves expect to get away free, and haven't got the common sense to fit ECM.
Killing them isn't really a good option. Especially if they are stealing in a rookie ship as they don't even lose the cost of their ship. Killing them costs them nothing, and costs you alot. The sec hit for blowing up a ship is not trivial and can take quite awhile to repair. Yes, you can kill them, but then you will be hiding in the station for 10-15 minutes. Then afterwards, there's really nothing to discourage them from coming back to harrass you.
Perhaps you enjoy stealing from others and finding ways to grief people. And perhaps someday you will grow up.

Surgical Strike will no longer affect damage modification on basic gyrostabilizers, heat sinks and magnetic field stabilizers.
could some-one clear this up.
do they just mean the skill wont effect Basic-dmg mod equipment like basic gyrostabilizers or does it mean all dmg mod equipment including hydro-gyros and fluid-gyros.

OK, so:
- no one should be able to take something from 'your' container - the container should be indestructible - it should hold an unlimited ammount of ore
Right? Does someone smell the cheese?
This is not a single player game - you are not left without options either:
- find a backwater system (often only 3 jumps from the 'n00b systems') to mine - take enough Indies for mining to be able to jettison only when an Indy is ready for pickup - take the hit and blast the thief into scrap metal - declare war on his corp and blast him into scrap metal repeatedly - put some of your hard-earned money to good use and hire mercenaries to do the dirty work for you (scrap metal, you know...)
Why are people so unimaginative and want everything to be covered by rules, terms and gamemechanics. EVE is freeform and in fact that's what makes it comparable to Elite ;)

So Tharrn, you believe someone should be able to steal from someone else risk free and without repercussion ? That is what your supporting anyways.
Can't declare war on someone who hasn't joined a corp. And someone can do this with a disposable character. Hardly takes a developed character to accomplish this. You don't even need a good ship. Hence, the cost is nothing. Even if someone does blow you up, you have not lost anything.
Perhaps you missed the reason why blowing up said thieves isn't terribly practical. For one, it doesn't prevent them from returning. For two, it will get the police on you, which will halt your mining operation. And lastly, you take a security hit.
Tell me again why they should benefit from your effort while taking no personal risk, or even having to spend any time developing the character they use. Using a disposable character for this means bouties are pointless, and they don'tt even earn a bad rep.
Only a coward would consider an obvious loophole like this "fair". Quit being lazy and mine for yourself.

Sanru, what's your damage?
"Perhaps you enjoy stealing from others and finding ways to grief people. And perhaps someday you will grow up."
Well done. Sanru intel -60%
Don't make unsupported accusations. It's weak.
I have not fired upon another player. Ever.
Although you might not understand this, but a decent mining op *does not* leave any substantial amount of ore floating around. If someone comes into range while you are handing your indy the ore, then get someone to ram him out of container range. It works a treat. Hand over the goods, indy goes back to station, cycle continues.
If you can't manage to move the indy fast enough, use another indy, rather than another miner. It's greed or ignorance that opens these extreme theft opportunities, much like giving too much hangar access to someone who has promised you the moon a stick.
to summarize:
Shut up Sanru Organise your strip mining better
If the concept of improving the quality of your operations is worrisome, please let me know, we have an FAQ available. .

I don't think anyone said it was 'fair'. It's not. But it will have to be looked at. But there are so many ways to avoid it, it's hard to start.
I know people who will come in and kill the griefer, for a small fee. (my alt being one of them)
Alternatively, just send him 25k isk and tell him to **** off.
Or shooting them. Seriously, I have never shot anyone but NPCs so far. But if I was running a slipshod, greedy, eyes-bigger-than-belly mining op, and someone came over to steal ore, I'd kill him.
But it sounds like you want to get maximum ore with no hindrance whatsoever, not even to untarget a rock to target the thief. That's greed. One of the seven sins, last time I checked.
Seriously, how much does it cost to 'not mine' for 3 minutes while you ram some stupid thief from one side of the belt to the other? (1 minute with MWD) .

Factory and Research slots changes have not gone far enougth.
If you have seen my posts elsewhere you will wonder why I make such a statement! While I'm against many of the ideas put forward in these forums, CCPs current changes will only help a little. The reasons being:-
1) for Factory slots a player can still block a complete station, or region just by producing 100 rounds of ammo in each slot they own per 3 day cycle.
2) Reseach slots can be locked by just creating 1000 copies of a basic BP at a time and the player does not even have to revisit the station.
More work will be required, the idea of ownership limits based on player skill and Corp size is still required. The only people hit by these changes seem to be 'real' solo players who decide to take a holiday or need to go on a business trip.

I agree with Relic, that was the first thing I thought of as well.
Though I don't own any slots (fac/res) nor am I planning on owning them any time soon, a previous idea that I thought they were going to implement is to limit a slot to your Skill.
Shame that's no where to be found in the patch. Sure, some slots will be opened, only to be taken by those who already own half a station...

Seems like you want to ignore the options you have - you can't blame anyone but yourself then.
If you are to greedy to hire mercenaries, don't have the guts to take the hit and are not able to organize your mining effort better, who's fault is that?

Great, the one thing I looked forward to most is to actually get a factory and a lab, just one of each, without having to go 30 jumps away to 0.0 space where I already lost my Mammoth to player pirates which had most of money in trade goods in the hold, too.
*sigh* All I want is one factory and one lab close to me. All CCP wants is to ignore the situation. Well, we'll see when the patch comes out...

This just shows you didn't read even every other word of what I was talking about.
No, I am not against there being thieves. I just want defenses against them that are practical. And I want them accountable for their actions.
Being able to immobilize them and force them to cough up what they took was one defense we had. They are taking that away, and that is what I protested at the start.
A better step would be "tagging" ownership to cargo containers you jettison, and perhaps ones from vessels you dealt significant damage too. They would still be open to loot by anyone, but doing so would cost you security status if the owner had sec clearance over 0.0.
The thieves at the moment take no risks but reap benefits at the cost to others. If you don't agree that should change, there's no point to us discussing this. I will not change my view.

I totaly agree with that, for ex. I own a good share of factory slots and most times im near my HQ I try to give away slots to small starting corporations that own a HQ or own offices at same station, to keep the system free of large greedy corps. operating in near space, that will go on a huge fact. slot takeover once this patch is out, just to throw small players out of entire regions, talking about the 100% beta corporations before the release of eve, something has to be done, enouph with those, CCP has been handing them everything for free since day one of the release, no room for starting players or the freelancers, and better nobody tell me that noobs can venture in 0.0 systems and find labs or factories, since all 0.0 chockepoints are ussualy blocked every 2 to 3 days, from same beta corps alt. pirate characters. Since I do not see CCP taking any notice of these conditions I cant help to think they have some pack and leave option ready for them untill somewhere in the middle of Fall. Earth and Beyond lasted for a year, maybe eve expiration time is about due in 6 months time, I really wonder, is it Earth and Beyond Reloaded here? lol

My original point was to take the **** because you hijacked a 'the new patch has new features' thread and turned it into another 'someone robbed my ore' thread.
There is already a 'pure' ore-robbery thread on page 1. Had you read it, you would have noticed that my views are fairly in line with your own, except I don't moan about people stealing my ****. I organise my team so that said '****' isn't in space for more than a few minutes. And if someone comes near it, they are dealt with.
Also, I am not for changes to help vultures, for a couple of reasons:
1) You don't *need* any changes to help them, they have all they need already.
2) It affects me too. You're not the only one whose had people nosing around your cargo. The difference is that I took positive action, whereas you asked CCP to help you out.
And in case you're just scanning through posts than don't wave your flag, grab this: I am not an ore-thief. Why would I want to make life easy on those that make *my* life hard?
I want the ability to instantly smack these *****es down the second they get into sniffing range of my stuff. Sadly, this will not be possible. And until it is, I will adapt.
Think about it. Write up an answer in notepad. Save it. Delete it. Then write one that isn't making daft accusations. .

@Sanru-->boring :( We understood well your point...Does you have to repeat it at each post? Thief problem is an organisation problem. You bought a game with its rules. Rules changed. And you? Mining a letting container inspace isn't a problem if you manage the miners team correctly. We never had such problems because of our organisation. Unless mining is IMPOSSIBLE for you, you cannot blame anybody (CCP, thief...).
Maybe you need more practice on team-work. Anyway, stop repeating the same boring "problem"...This thread is about the latest patch, not ONLY your mining problem. Thanks. (\_/) (O.o) (> <)=Oveur (proof) "Jumping 50 systems I can like, have sex 150 times during that period" |

I've only been playing a few weeks, but I've been reading the forums carefully.
This game has 5000 sectors? When I joined, my roommate had formed a corp with another person. They had picked a quiet sector that sees little traffic and set up shop there. There've been no conflicts with other players, rude, asses, nice, or otherwise.
With all the whining I see from some posters about all the problems they have with other players, why in the hell don't you just point your ship somewhere and move the hell off the freeway to a suburb?
Just a thought. Do however you like I guess; maybe stress and yelling is better than uninterrupted playing.

Sanru, the fact that the new webbing/statis fixes will allow easier ore-theft is bad.
But until you've been webbed by a PC pirate, and not been able to do anything, and the guy webbing you getting no negative effects, you will NEVER see why the fix is good.
I'd rather have some*****master steal a tristan's-worth of ore than have a pirate get away with stealing 500k isk without a security hit.
Plus, I'll kill anyone who tries it on with my cargo anyway. I can afford a sec hit if I need to.
The fix is to stop pirates attacking you (webbing, etc.) with no repercussions. The ore-thieving is a seperate issue. And if you have a good mining team, it's not an issue anyway.
another summary: I *DO NOT* think people should be able to freely take ore from other peoples cargo containers. .

Another good idea on dealing with ore-theives without having to blow them away, jam them or scramble them. How about slamming them with mwd's at full bore, 2000m/s will send any ship flying through a belt. I've sent corp mates up to 10k in any given direction from recoil of a mwd hit. Wouldn't this discourage would-be thieves? Just my 2 isk thought on a solution to an anoying problem. Take what ya kin... Gives nothin back!!!

Tjattras, would you rather they patch on last Friday and then have a super buggy crap patch ruin the next 2 days of gaming? They're pushing the date back becuase they have things to work out with the patch, and they know if they patch while it's still buggy they'll have every whiner in EVE scream bloody murder for releasing a buggy patch.
Honestly the devs can't win, no matter what they do people whine about it, unbelievable.

If they still have things that cause the patch not to go in by Thursday I would rather they wait till July 7th to patch and not screw up my weekend.
I would rather have a patch that is has painless has possible then a patch rushed for the screaming masses.

All these changes to make piracy more difficult, and still no way to raise security in any reasonable way.
Props CCP. Why am I paying you money again?

LAB/FACTORY STILL PROBLEM: I admire the fact that CCP sees lab/factory slot problem and trying to fix it. However, the proposed fix is not going to fix it. It will only hurt the little person, again. 3 day expirations without use? What if I go on holiday/vacation in real life? Skill level needs to drive this in addition to a variable rental period with the same proposed "use it or lose it" plan. My scenario goes like this: Skilled to control 3 factories, I rent 3. 3 days/5 days/7 days/9 days (use your imagination) rental periods, shortest being significantly cheaper/day. Whatever factory which is not used, is not re-rentable. I go on holiday and I get back and I still have factories, use them properly, and life in EVE goes on properly.
