So i've wondered what this was for since joining the game. I've waited for an expansion that would open it or explain more about it. Expected a new race of ships to add to the already existing, something that would be of a higher caliber because of the "lore" but would require something like all cruisers to 5 or a totally new skill tree that would have that as a prereq. Does anyone know if CCP is ever going to expand on this? |

based on that link, i don't think they would be so OP...
Seems like the Amarr sent an undersized force, were out maneuvered by the frigs, and had insufficient intel. Top top it off, a Jovian titan (or the equivalent of one) shoes up far out of range and starts using Dooms Day weapon on the amarrian fleet, which was pinned down by the jovian fast moving frigs.
Great fight by the jovians... and also the only fight by them. They are obviously menuverable, have titans, and are good at putting out dps. They don't seem god like to me |

I find that the Jovians are there to keep the eve online francise going. Giving us hope and perhaps a goal to aim for.
And in case eve online is going downhill, that Jovian update could be a backup plan. |

It looks like a tick... Kill it with FIRE! Besides that, CCP should just have some kind of event where they all fly jovian ships and shoot people. Preferably in Jita. |

Since CCP dumbed down the races and character creation, adding more races in means nothing. Also Jovians should never be added in especially as a playable race. They really should always be the mysterious unknown race they are today. |

From memory it says they're just motherships, but with rediculous capital weapons that just smash through everything. Also, everything seems to cloak. |

What I'm going to ask is how CONCORD is more OP than the Jove when CONCORD is a product of the empires... "We will create the introduction thread if that is requested by the community. Also, we will have an ISD Seminar about the CCL team in the coming weeks in which you can ask your questions about the CCL team and provide some constructive feedback to us." - Countless pages of locked threads and numerous permabanned accounts later, change is coming. |

CCP needs the Jove to tease the playerbase when they are light on content for expansions.
We'll know if the Winter expansion will be any good or not if CCP employees start talking more about the Jove in upcoming interviews. If there's so much as a screenshot of a Jove ship that comes out we know it's going to be a light expansion...

jove ships aren't really that much more powerful then other races. the playerbase has just repeated the rumors that 1 jove cruiser could kill 100s of battleships, when it isn't the case. no lore suggests any jove ship ( aside from the motherships) can be seriously broken.
that said I don't really need them in the game. it would be nice to be able to use their space though. |

Doesn't go below 80% shields.
http://youtu.be/lHZdBkLDXvU Jove battleship takes on another player fleet... which has capitals. Its shields don't even struggle.
Granted... those ships were flown by GM or DEVs...
but take a moment to think of what'd you do with a ship that has... 8 high slots, 8 mid slots, 8 low slots, 8 launcher hardpoints, 8 turret hardpoints, 400 m3 of drone space, 125 m/bit of drone bandwidth, above average speed and agility for a battleship, and enough CPU and Powergrid to fit whatever T2/Faction/Officer mods of your choice and STILL have room to spare.
I'm thinking dual ancillary, nano-fit with high resistances, decent buffer... and I'm torn between artillery or launchers. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |

The moment you see Gé¼Gé¼P release the Jove (or Jove Ships) to EVE's playerbase you can be assured that EVE is on its last legs and/or Sony has bought Gé¼Gé¼P (which is the same difference). |

Jove ships used to pop up now and again in new Eden on TQ!.
Not anymore though cos CCP pretty much killed them all and started flying there ships around in SISI to annoy the hell out of us and stack them senseless with GM mods.
Tbh we all go nuts when we see a polaris in TQ flown by a dev or a ISD.
The jove race died many years ago and it was kinda killed off when we found that Jove space is actually the testing grounds for CCP and the Tourny.
However in the BATTLE OF VAK'ATIOTH we did get a idea of the power that the Jove race can do using energy compensating defenses. Then obviously a mother ship that fires a ray so powerful it pretty much split through everything it fired upon.
We had a screaming fantasy when a trailer was brought out with a baddon firing a doomsday type weapon giving us a hint that the amarr may have taken jove tec.
The idea to bring Jove chars or ships would cause a melt down as players from 2003 beta could have had that char to start which could cause issues with the old school, then again we have had numerous nerf bats and there still here.
I beleive if jove ships are made available apart from the jove ship we have already in eve it would be given to the highest trained chars and somthing for the younger chars to have a goal to hit.
I think it would be an idea to re-open jove and have us poor souls fly there and get blapped senseless when we try to find there secrets. Would be fun :)
However in the light of day its something to look forward to and thats one of the main reasons I stay in EvE. To be able to one day jump in a decent jove ship and go nuts

I always find it odd how GMs who are so adamant about "not restoring destroyed modules, etc..." and other things that might damage the balance of eve are still okay with going into the game flying ships using the most insane god-like modules... sure, it's because they can. But seems lame to me. Might aswell just say, "Trollolol i will destroy real hard earned assets with something i can spawn at will and cannot be destroyed." Might as well just show up in Jita, like someone else stated, and just destroy everyone flying about. Oh might as well DD the station and blow it up too with the one pod that has a doomsday on it heheh. And have countless cargo containers explode around the system with all of people's assets in it...
The point that I'm kind of over-emphasizing is any display of force by a jovian ship being piloted by a GM is simply a useless reference to explore the capabilities of jovian technology and it's mythology in the game... and what it truly would be within the realm of reason. They can do anything they want.
Highly advanced battleships, cruisers and even frigates could be introduced that match jovian technology by introducing tech 3 versions of those ships ... and there you have it, maybe all jovian ships are tech 3.
I speculate that releasing jovian ships as playable content for players doesn't necessarily indicate a move of desperation for eve, although it could also be that way... In the end, making jovian ships playable may be a natural evolution for the game, same with concord ships... lol. I don't see why the hell not. Concord can be invulnerable still ... the only arbitrary mechanic that I'm willing to support! |
