This would all be fixed if the pilot would simply fit a proper combat ship (posted below). I caught this on Scrapheap and I think it will be the way forward. Some guy named Garmon seems to be flying this now? What does FoTM mean? Apparently he solo'd 4 rifters in it a few weeks ago. Theres a video on youtube about it. He disabled comments apparently though.
Btw, I agree on the insurance. And, question, I thought Gunpoint Diplomacy was a WH mining corp?

You know, I was (painfully) mining ice in my retriever the other day. Ship comes up, and before my slow arse could get into warp BANG BANG BANG dead. Between the insurance and isk on hand, I simply bought another. It happens. Eve doesn't coddle players, there's some degree of risk in simply undocking. You deal, you move on.
Hulks/Exhumers (Mackinaws, Skiffs) don't get **** for insurance due to the fact they are tech 2 ships. You only get the payout for the tech 1 hull used to make the ship, so ~10 million isk.

Far be it from me to support the Amarr but...To the OP, I feel where you are coming from.
-First of all, is high sec 100% safe: NO. As you discovered.
-Should a Hulk be able to (when properly fitted) withstand suicide ganks composed of T1 ships in high sec till Concord arrives and does their thing : YES. (with exception to sheer numbers as at some point the number of pilots in a ganksquad eventually out performs Concord's ability to destroy them all before you are safe again. The number of suicide gankers required should however be substantially large.)
-Is it unfair that a ganksquad operating in high sec should only need to expend 1/100th or less of the cost of their ships and fittings (not to mention time and effort) in comparison to their victims (who they are not at war with) costs: YES.
-Is it an exploit?: Well, only that which CCP is willing to declare (and enforce against) as an exploit is considered an exploit in EVE gameplay.
-Is it unfair that a player who commits an act worthy of a Global Criminal Flag has only a 1 minute penalty timer till they can dock or use a gate: YES
-Should suicide gankers enjoy the same insurance payouts as lawful citizens enjoy?: Logically NO. However when people use throw away alts to suicide gank others in high sec who cares about insurance on a cheap T1 ship.
-Should CCP make changes to the gameplay to make it less easy and less profitable for players to suicide gank other players in high sec: YES.
Worth noting that CCP has made changes to gameplay to deal with suicide ganking in EVE in the past. So don't feel that you're swimming completely against the stream. Too it's worth noting that many will criticize you because they know the gameplay is unbalanced and unfair but also that it works in their favor so...Seriously, you want to here crying? The minute CCP makes any sort of change that balances gamplay (few and far between IMHO), changes that mean so called EVE "pirates" have to actually work for their goals/kills, actually have to take part in the "risk vs reward" they like to expound against others on the forums, well here comes the tears, the anger, the threats to cancel accounts, etc. Really, the way I see it a lot could be done to balance EVE's gameplay that would actually mean more fun, more potential (true) PVP and overall more interesting gameplay for the majority of EVE players. CCP just needs to be a little more open minded.

Yea, this is a problem and it makes Eve really seem like CCP didnt think this thru. Sure, it has alot of depth but the scripting is so bad it cant even deal with an exploit.
It is pretty clear that this is an exploit, you were never intended to kill without provocation in high sec. The whole point of Concord is to discourage that except, strangely, it doesnt.

But seriously learn game mechanics bro.
I tell u more: even if you r outlaw it is still possible to gank miner ship with only 4-5 Thrashers in 0.5 system. Concord gives enought time to jump to hisec, warp to belt ( useing alt as an warppoint ) and gaank a miner. We did this before in Emol.

I have come across the Gunpoint diplomacy a few times but they never managed to catch me when I have seen them, to be honest they strike me as incompetent at best, I looked on battleclinic records and they are something like 5000th in the corp roster. I bet all they do is gangkill hulks in their thrashers hence their poor record, they will get tagged as a loss each time they do this right? I don't think any of their pilots can do something so dedicated as 'proper' combat like good old fashoned 1v1 fighting. Instead they use exploits like this to bend the rules of the game.
In fact one of their members tried to ransom my pod in a lowsec system I was in and I hadn't even had a fight with anyone, asshammer invited me to chat then tried to extract funds. How stupid can these types of griefers be? (ps I didn't pay the ransom ether, I just closed and left the channel, I consider that a morel victory).

Wait, it gets even better... one day you'll be out in your shiny new tank-fitted Hulk, and you'll see a corp member fly up in your belt, maybe to "help" you with the rats or to salvage, or maybe they've offered to haul for you. Then they'll scramble you, open fire, and pop your expensive ship, all without Concord aggression; because corpmates can fire at will on each other.
At that point, best you can hope for is your CEO didn't give the guy roles, so he can be kicked and you can try to mine again. Or you could have corpmates try to retaliate and kill him, but if he's in a shuttle, you'll never catch him and will just make him lulz at your impotent fury.
This is not WOW. This is kill-or-be-killed. Some people like killing defenseless ships even better than ones that carry a risk a loss. Hunker down, figure out how best to protect yourself, and accept that you will most likely lose every ship you ever buy, sooner or later. If you've made more at the end of the month than you've lost, if you've learned something, then you've come out ahead and wil be better prepared for next month. Good luck!
