It can come as no surprise that players will travel from all over the globe to attend Fanfest and the Party at the top of the World. This year we intend to have a special award for the person who has travelled the furthest. For those players who are travelling many thousands of miles to be here with us we have a simple process that could earn you this very unique prize. Simply come and visit the registration booth at Fanfest before 13:00 UTC on Thursday, March 24 with your boarding pass or a printed copy of your flight itinerary. Once we verify the person who has traveled the farthest, the award will be presented during the opening presentation.

The criteria for winning is how far did you travel from when you packed your case, left your house/hotel and went to the airport to board a flight for Reykjavik, Iceland.
Having the boarding cards or a copy of your itinerary to prove the distance traveled is the main thing

I beat that the next year (2005) with a Trip from Hamilton, New Zealand with my girlfriend. When on stage to collect our prize I proposed ... she said yes.
THAT is the benchmark that you have to beat. And if you want a definition of nervous flying try sneaking an engagement ring through 3 sets of Customs checks and making sure said girlfriend does not notice. Jonathon Silence

Indeed, because nothing says "I love you" like giving her an object that has passed through your digestive tract.
I think we're better off not knowing...

Indeed she did.
Got married 3 years ago on Febuary 29th, so we have just had our 3/4 anneversary. Her choice of date, though she did agree on my choice of music to enter the reception venue to ... The Imperial March.
Ok, so we are both Geeks. Jonathon Silence

Coming to my 3rd fanfest from Melbourne, Australia. 1st time came was 48hrs there, 72hrs in Iceland, 48hrs home. Does this count as most distance. This time there is also a couple of thousand miles of train travel in Europe?

Not going to be there this year. Just not enough free cash and work is still very heavy with clean up after the Christchurch Quake (I work for an insurance company).

Edited by: Mara Rinn on 23/03/2011 10:00:55 Damn, I'm only from Canberra. Canberra -> Sydney -> Dubai -> London -> Iceland. Melbourne's at least another 400km flying distance :\
I'm told there is at least one person here for Fanfest that travelled from New Zealand this year.
