(sad story about pod being killed before i could warp)
after i died, i noticed that the selected object was not still selected after i was in my pod. i'd like that to remain the same so that the deshipped pilot does not have to waste precious moments trying to use a clunky conditional menu or finding objects in the overveiw.
i'd also like the pod to be set up so that it immidiatly attempts to warp to some location predetermined by the pilot after ship loss.
please add ideas, support, or constructive flames. if there's enough intrest in the topic i will repost to assembly hall

if you're suggesting something that's already in the game, please explain how it works to me.
if you're asking for clarification, i want it to be so that you can designate a particular bookmark as the standard pod warpout point so that i don't get killed by between ship lag.

There is a lag of anywhere between 1-10 seconds on non-laggy grid, due to session change on ship popping (boarding pod), depending on connection and physical proximity of your location to server. Same session change is responsible for object deselection. The "pod-logoffiski" maneuver was once popular in the old Chinese player community in Tranquility. In non-bubbled environment, log off when you're about to pop, it will warp your pod out, then log on a bit later to pilot your pod.
Btw, supporting auto-warp pod on ship pop.

When your ship is about ready to pop, pick a celestial object and spam "warp to".
Selecting a point after your ship has been violenced, well get your popped sometimes.
And there you go.

baal, as the guy who posted just before you mentioned, you lose the selected item when you "board a new ship" (get blown up). your solution does not work.
try it with your buddies, have them blow up your rookie ship and see if having a selected object does any good.

Having never tried it myself, can someone answer:
If you set a destination to the next system over (before combat) and set auto pilot on before you pop, will the pod warp off quicker than spamming warp?
Curious for the answer

It has worked for me time and again. There is a momentary pause, then been able to immediately gtfo. It was a very common method, that i have seen in every corp / alliance I have been in.
Unless CCP has changed something, then....whelp.

No... I can confirm that what Baal said is true. I do it all the time (lost ONLY 15 pods in 2 years \o/). You just have to "anticipate" when your ship is about to turn to fire. Simply select an object in space and mindlessly spam the warp button (even when your ship is in the middle of exploding). More often than not, the pod will carry over the command from the ship and warp off. I have also done something similar on gates (even though it shouldn't be possible). I'm aggressed on a gate, taking a pounding, spamming the "Jump To" button hoping... just HOPING... that my aggression timer will be over in time. More often than not my ship dies and my POD will then jump gate. _______________________

Edited by: Misanthra on 15/03/2011 01:54:57 celestial spam works for me as well. Combat char flies caldari. At the ding ding ding of doom when shield fail imminent...the spam starts. Even the "op" drake falls quick once armor and hull hit. Been 3 alpha striked in one. First volley had me at 35% shield....did not wait for the alarm of death. POd actually got out, slow bs locks ftw.
In blob warfare...lag monster got you beat down, start it muuuuch sooner when your ship is not responding at all and it looks like some people have made you a target. You catch time delayed damage in lag...hits hard when it hits. Delay bad enough...you'll see you corpse next to you for a wtf moment. Or you see your mail flash with you Pend Insurance notice...and the we have activated clone mail as well. Smoke em if you got em after that...you are waiting for server to kill you off officially and wake you up back at the station.
edit: I also found running limited implants helps pod survival alot. I run all 4 int/mem/perc/will implants in the clone....that pod rarely lives. I started running an int/mem or perc/will clone based on skill in qeue...short of a bubble, pod always made it home. Had one pod at 50% hull....made it home though. Pods are autorepaired at stations by the way...don't even have to ask for it lol.
